TV galore with every sport you can imagine. The staff is friendly and the food is plentiful. Have been there many times in the past and have not been disappointed though must say we have the Taco Salad for the first time and it was loaded with onions which over powered the salad. They are reasonably priced and the breakfast are always a good choice. There are different sections to the restaurant so it seems there is usually a big party in one of the sections. One thing I noticed is many of the tables are round and can comfortably seat 6 which means if you are a party of two you may feel like you are taking up space which could better accommodate a larger group. read more

Went for lunch and regretted it. The waitress kept apologizing for the SLOW service, took her about 15 minutes to take our order, glad we weren't in a hurry. It was Restaurant Week...but since there were no breakfast options...we went to the Doors. I love that we no longer have to suffer a smokey atmosphere just because we go to a sports bar for food. As usual, we had great service, decent price, good food. We had the Mulligan and the Irish breakfast. Both were good and too large to eat in one sitting so we have leftovers. Neither was greasy and they are happy to adjust your order ( I don't like green peppers). The waitress was consistently filling our drink. It wasn't very noisy since there were no games on TV...yet. This is one of those places where everyone says " you gotta go there for the big game" and "they have the best bar food". So today I decided to venture out and go watch the Montana game. The following is what I observed. 1. If you are under the age of 40 good luck, there wasn't one attractive person in the bar. 2. They very worse nachos I've ever tasted. It's as if they asked a guy who had never cooked anything in his entire life to make nachos. Stale chips, the meat had no flavor and was very dry, canned olives and jalapeños (not a huge deal), but Pace picante sauce which they call salsa. Come on guys. Buy a packet of taco seasoning follow the recipe on the back and find any Salsa Sysco sells besides Pace brand. Honestly there was only one thing that really caught my eye on the menu. I opted for the nachos because there was just a review about them in the Inlander. They just lost much credibility in my opinion. On the positive there are many tv's with many different games on them. So in closing after I pay $12.00 for nachos that have a food cost of about $2.25. I will never set foot into this bar again. The food is horrible and overpriced. I went her to watch a WSU game and ordered some nachos to share with the table, I was shocked when I got the check and they were $15.99! My fault for not checking first but seems a little steep for some meat product shredded cheese and sour cream. I don't live in Spokane anymore but I came back to this place and had an expectation of what swinging doors used to be. They let me down. I ordered nachos, they forgot the Cheese. My friends ordered deep fried mushrooms and apparently they made them half the size they used to be. My other friend ordered the bacon burger and got a blue cheese bacon burger and hates blue cheese. 5 of my friends ordered Irish trash cans and there was not half as much alcohol as there should be in a trash can. They used to have a full sized shuffle board. They got cheap, they now have a pos shuffle board you have to pay per game for. I feel like this is new ownership and the new owners don't care. If it's not new owners the old owners just decide to start sucking at what they used to do so well. I definitely recommend you stay far aware from this place. read more

The last day I came here, it was a weird day (I was heading to a funeral a few hours later). But I enjoyed my time more than I thought I would, given the circumstances. My family and I came here for brunch. Late morning, and two of us ordered lunch, while two of us ordered breakfast. I ordered the taco omelet (or whatever it was called - it had salsa on it and was a half-breed of traditional omelet and a burrito), and was happy with how it turned out. It ended up being big and filled with a lot of stuffing, which is how an omelet should be. Very tasty, and exactly what I was looking for. Wife ordered a bloody mary, and it was pretty disappointing. It was pretty poorly mixed - not that it was overly strong, but she had to ask for some extra tomato juice to put in it to get the flavor to be better. The color was WAY off, and the taste wasn't where it should have been. Which seemed odd. Being a beer nerd, I had to check out the beer list. I wasn't in the mood for a beer, but I was reasonably happy with the selection. They had 20-30 taps, roughly half of which I'd consider craft options. This wouldn't be my first pick to go for a beer, but if I were here for some reason, I could certainly find a few things I'd be happy with. Service was really nice. Our waitress was super friendly (bordering on overly so, but I was in a bad mood, so take that comment with a grain of salt). She was very attentive, and as prompt as possible with what we needed. My mom even wanted to be her friend. It was weird, but oddly sweet. All in all, I was happy with my time. I wouldn't really go out of my way to come back here, but wouldn't be opposed to it, either. Oh - and they have craptons (yes, that is a valid measurement unit) of TVs. Pretty much all are tuned to sports. It's a great way to ignore your wife and parents. read more

My husband and I come here every weekend/game day and it's always been superb! The food is delicious. (& we're picky) they also change the T.V. Station to what game we want, Steelers game. The bar tender Jan H. is nice, kind and very attentive. I like her A lot!! Actually every waiter we've ever had is quick and accurate, & friendly. They don't make me feel like a bother. The Swinging Doors, is a whimsical place and the building, food, and clientele are the reasons why. If you filled a hobbit's house full of electronics from best buy... You would have a similar interior to that of The Swinging Doors. Inside the dining area they have a plethora of flat screens along with heavy wooden beams and a oversized fireplace mantle. But beware, my fellow hobbits of the shire. The clientele seems to consist of elderly couples, trolls, and all of the guys who beat the living daylights out of you in high school. Haven't spent a lot of time there in the evenings, but it's one of my favorite places to grab a breakfast on a hangover morning. The Eggs Benedict is top-notch and the staff are always super friendly. I had a mediocre experience on one occasion with an inattentive server who seemed more concerned with texting on his cellphone than bringing us our food, coffee and eventually the check, but I wrote it off as a guy having one of those days. On a side note: I haven't noticed an inordinate amount of fat people bloating up the establishment as the other guy stated, but LOL @ that being an issue for anyone. I could see regulars putting on a few pounds, but I have to say a sports bar is the last place I'd expect to find a healthy menu. I go to Taco Bell for that. read more

Every time I've gone tO watch a game. Arrived 1hr early and every table is reserved. Only regulars are welcome as no tables available for walking. Not even a important game. Nachos could feed a small country- would be better with classic tortilla chips, not the tri-colored kind. Drinks were well poured and service was friendly and fast. Wow, this place has some of the best chicken fried steak I've ever had! Obviously this joint is no hidden secret, and it's obvious why. Decent prices, HUGE portions, and good greasy spoon food. It's a sports bar type place, but we went for brunch. The chicken fried steak was huge and delicious, better than most bfast/brunch joints, and 100x better than the crap you get at chains. The gravy was thick and contained liberal amounts of meat. My eggs were cooked over medium rather than over easy, but not that big of a deal. It wasn't a problem for them to pull 4 tables together for our large group (maybe 20 of us). I don't make it to Eastern WA often by any measure, so I wish this place was in my hood! read more

I've had countless meals at the Swinging doors over the years, but today's lunch was less than a 1. ordered the lunch Fish & Chips and when it came it look fine. However after the second bite of the large piece of fried fish I knew something was wrong. The fish inside was not only cold, but actually partially still frozen. The manager happen to be at our table and I handed the meal back and told him the fish was cold. Then they brought me back the original fish (less the large piece), but this time it was hot -- just re-fried now twice. And you guessed it, now the fried fish was seriously over cooked. And they topped if off by charging me full price like nothing had happened. Some days are like that. read more

Not only are the drinks great, the food is fantastic too. This is bar food at its finest. The pizza sandwiches are amazing--I seriously dream about them at night. The French dip is awesome and so is the broasted chicken, but the pizza sandwiches are perfection! The only reason I can't give five stars is because the staff seriously messed up a reservation that my office made for a going away party. We reserved a table for 12, but when we arrived (on time!) they had forgotten to put the "reserved" sign on the table and the place was packed. A true sports bar, even if you have some young'uns in your group. By far the best place to go in Spokane for mozzarella sticks. If you are a U of Montana Griz fan, this is the place to be for any game you can't make it back to Missoula to attend.
