This place is wonderful. The Sunflower Garden is three gardens on five acres. Admission is $18 for picking beautiful flowers or $5 for picking fun places to take selfies and photos all over the grounds.
Ticket reservation is only required for weekends. There is limited parking on the property. You can pay online or in person. Someone will guide you where to park on your way in. After you take selfie's, the counter to pay is a short walk. You can borrow cutting tools, buckets & metal vases (to see what your bouquet will look like). Colorful mason jars and small vases are for sale.
Tips: Bring a bucket or container (and a jug of water) to transport your flowers home. A tripod is also useful for photos. If you have anything with a sunflower on it (even umbrellas), your photos will look great. You may also want to bring water (and a sweat towel or hat) If you forget, water costs $1.
We spent about two hours enjoying the fields of flowers, butterflies and taking pictures. The grounds by the paying area are loaded with cute antiques, a chalk wall and even a huge bathtub. There was evidence of a few proposals. You can make arrangements for petals to be placed in heart shaped hints on the ground or chalkboards sharing your congratulations or thanks.
There are mirrors placed around the gardens to make your photos even better. I loved the chair in the middle of all the flowers. The giant wooden heart was my favorite prop.
We met David, the owner. He was happy we chose to spend time on the grounds. He said some of the fields were "spent" (done for the season). I feel that way at times myself.
There is still time to see the sunflowers, chase the rooster for pictures, trim flowers and pose in the tub! Just follow the Facebook page or view www.thesunflowergarden.com for details. read more
