The problem is, he travels between Spokane & LA (where he now lives). He was supposed to fix it the next time he was in town, a month later, but cancelled the day of. Now I am left with this terrible hair, and will have to go somewhere else to have it fixed. He never once apologized or even seemed to feel bad. I paid over $300 for my cut/color. This unprofessionalism is unacceptable. Also, both separate occasions I had my hair washed in the bowls, my back got soaked. Everyone agreed it was because the bowls sucked. The light ash brown came out NEARLY BLACK. I had just spent 16 weeks, 3 half day appts and over $1000 getting dark brown OUT of my hair at my local salon in CA. I am beyond upset. The stylist then argued with me about the color. She then said it would take 30 minutes to fix (after I just went through this process at my local salon, I know a 30 minute apt will not fix the issue without burning all of my hair off). I wanted to have the mani-pedi ahead of my vacation, so I made the appointment for the day before I was leaving (and the only day I could do it), but Bri wrote the wrong day down in her planner. It was a simple mistake, but when I didn't show up on the wrong date, no one from the salon ever contacted me, despite taking my phone number when I booked. Since I didn't know that I had "missed" my appointment, I made the trek from Spokane to CdA in heavy rain only to find the salon closed tight. Someone eventually showed up, but I was told that Bri was busy and no one else could step in for her, despite recognizing it was her mistake. I was told that I could be rescheduled for a time *eight hours* in the future, which I refused to accept. To her credit, Bri did work with Groupon to allow me a refund, but it ended up being only Groupon bucks, not actually a refund. Plus, I had to find a last minute place to get in for just a manicure before my trip, costing me even more money. The entire experience was unprofessional. By not calling to check on the missed appointment, it said to me that they didn't believe they could have made a mistake and the problem must be on the customer's end. It's just good business to follow up, especially if you require a telephone number to make a booking.

The salon is incredibly aesthetically pleasing, clean and organized every time I go. Everyone is always nice -- You can tell that they have a great work culture, and community there. I truly cannot imagine going anywhere else. I have always seen Makayla, she is a wonderful and talented hairstylist. My review really isn't even going to do her justice, really that's just how talented she is. Whether I come in with an idea for color/haircut or not, she's always ready to jump in and bring the idea to life or help me work through what I'm looking for. I usually request a balayage or highlight, and her balayage is truly artful-- like I do not have amazing natural hair color to start with by any means, and she makes it look great and really adds some great blonde tones. (Same goes for highlights) Since I've started going to her, I am guaranteed compliments. Makayla just in general is amazing. In addition to being skilled in hair, she is very communicative, has a lovely personality, is incredibly patient, respectful and always has thoughtful, as well as often funny, conversations.
