I followed the FANTASTIC and one-and-only Allison from Pilates by Allison in the Shore to this location. First, if you want amazing 1:1 instruction and focused toning through smooth, lengthening, controlled movements, she's the best! This is not a kick-your-butt kind of workout, but it will indeed tone your butt (and your core and your legs ... and help you correct alignment)! There's a reason I've been with her for over 5 yrs. Now onto the studio. Holy cow is it spacious! 3 high-ceiling, loft like rooms with floor to ceiling windows that overlook the waterway. During my stretches today, my eyes wondered to the names of the boats docked just outside the open door. One was "Swallow This" - we figured that dude didn't have a smart wife or girlfriend around to tell him that probably wasn't the best name for his boat, but I digress. The pilates equipment is top notch and brand spanking new. There are cubbies for all your belongings, water, hand sanitizers, a very spacious and clean bathroom and plenty of parking (underground - enter just passed Ralph's). Even though I've only done privates, I plan to sign up for reformer classes soon. read more

One of my gripes about this place (originally) was the pricing. But, I just noticed that nearly everyday (if you are a FB fan), they pick one class - and no it's not the 1130 weekday class - and it's $15. They give you a day's notice and if you like the class on FB you are "signed up". You still have to sign up with their online system, but you don't get charged extra and you get a killer class for a VERY reasonable individual class rate. If I hadn't signed up to take classes somewhere else, I would definitely be putting this studio into my rotation!! I hope that they keep this up - - it's such an awesome deal! read more

I hit the jackpot with the LivingSocial deal I purchased earlier this summer for 10 reformer classes. The studio is nestled within Marina Pacifica so there's always plenty of parking and you can watch a movie, buy groceries, pick up a smoothie, or have dinner after you've worked out. The studio is spacious and nicely decorated. There are 6 reformers, so class sizes are small, which can make it difficult at times to get into a particular class during peak times, but it also means that there's more personal attention. I've been in classes with Bridget, Maria, Debbie, and Karen. They are all fabulous and have a keen eye for when you're not completing the movements or exercises in appropriate form or alignment. This is something many places don't always emphasize, which is why people get injured while exercising (there's my mini PT schpeel). I've also heard them ask others in class how they were feeling and if such and such isn't hurting. I'm assuming like myself, they've had some injury. I'm really interested in taking one of the cycling classes they offer cause they seem to be having an awesome time as well getting their sweat on. I've got 2 of my 10 classes left and I'm trying to figure out where I'm going to find the $. Sigh, one of the downfalls of being a full-time grad student aka unemployed. Signing up for classes is easy via MindBody online scheduler and they've got quite a selection of morning and evening classes. I highly recommend the Backside Burner with Karen. This review has been long overdue! I started coming to the studio two years ago. I was never a big fan of Pilates. In the past I had one-on-one instructors and attended top notch studio's. I decided to give Bridget Studio a whirl. I started a couple months before I found out I was pregnant. I continued attending 4-6 days a week, up until I gave birth. I fired out my baby so fast, within in 24 hours my stomach was close to flat and the nurses attributed it to my core being strong. The studio is super clean and the teachers are fantastic. They will give you your bang for your buck, no messing around...you are there to tone that body! read more

The Studio By Bridget is hands down the best pilates studio I've been to. The instructors are top notch and not only provide expert pilates instruction, but also provide a genuine, hard core work-out. The environment is beautiful, but also very welcoming and comfortable. The staff are friendly, always willing to help, and never intimidating or aloof. This kind of environment makes me want to have it as a regular part of my weekly exercise routine. I've been doing pilates at this studio for about two years now and I truly do feel that, thanks to Bridget and her amazing group of instructors, I have grown stronger and more flexible and seen great improvement in my stamina, posture, and muscle tone. The rating for 2 stars says Meh. I've experienced better. Here are my reasons. This was actually my 3rd time here (2xs before about 4 yrs ago and then now). These were equipment classes. First, the facilities are NICE...new well kept equipment and aesthetics (they don't take advantage of their view which is right on the canals for the amount of rent i'm sure they're paying). And the concept of the courses good. My first 2 times I had interacted w/ Bridget the owner and an instructor (Maria, whom I LOOOOOOOOOVED). Issues: You don't feel welcome. Bridget seemed bothered both times I've interacted with her that I was there even before the classes began. During the classes, it's almost as if it's annoying to her that you can't figure out her instructions or how to use the equipment, even though it's only my 3rd time there and the last time was a couple years ago (which she knew). And she's saying things like back wall, but since the room is a room in the middle of the place, i'm not sure what she considers back wall. The one to my back, the one facing the back of the building or what she was referring to which was the "side" wall on the inside. I just started to follow everyone else.) She did however remember/learn my name to use a couple of times during the class which I thought was nice (though i do have a unique first name), since she briefly spoke to me (just to sign me in). The exercises were called out as if you should already know what they are, and where all body parts should be. How far away from the end of your board, to the side, etc. I am athletic and guestimated what she might mean, but if I had no fitness background like one of the earlier ppl mentioned on here, it would be even more frustrating. Basically it is NOT a class for all levels if you want to get something out of it. If you are an avid pilates person, you might not mind as much; but I have had other instructors who paid more attention to each individual and was more helpful than what I felt. And I realize the owner might read this, and I am not intending to offend, rather just offer some helpful feedback. A warm welcome goes a long way. I have an injury right now so I thought pilates would be best for me. And I just haven't gotten a good vibe from this place either time--except with other instructors. This place is close to me. But I won't be signing up for any classes in the future. read more

The Studio by Bridget has a great variety of classes. Pilates both mat and reformer, barre, TRX, spinning, and more. The instructors are knowledgeable and professional. I bought a Living Social voucher for 10 classes and it has been money well-spent. The studio is is the marina and is a wonderfully light and airy space. Equipment is clean and up-to-date. If you sign up on their Facebook page, they offer special pricing on packages from time to time. I plan to continue taking classes after I use up my ten classes from Living Social. I can't give higher praise than that! read more

Great little studio (and I don't mean that condescendingly--it really is petite!): bright, airy, and clean. Terrific instructors--I'm not the sort that likes to be barked at drill-Sargent-style and I'm happy to say that the class leaders are encouraging without being harsh. I appreciate that they're willing to hold classes even if only a couple of people are signed up (this is typically true of mid-morning, mid-week classes; weekends and evenings have lots of participants). Have only been going for a couple of weeks (thanks to an AmazonLocal deal) but can already see noticeable improvements in my muscle tone and strength. Only one critique, specifically tied to the AmazonLocal deal I purchased: the "unlimited classes for a month" deal did not make it explicit that it would only cover "non-equipment" classes (I'm the sort who obsessively reads fine print before buying so I am pretty darn certain this limitation was not stated); I didn't find out about this stipulation until I called the Studio to cash in the voucher. If I had a normal 8-5 work schedule, the limitation to non-equipment only classes would make the deal significantly less valuable (about 90% of weekday pilates classes happen mid-morning, evenings, non-equipment classes are almost all Spin). I don't think that's necessarily the Studio's fault, but if they offer deals in the future, it might be good if they could insist that any limits to "unlimited classes" be made 100% clear on the deal site. read more

I love this studio! I have been seeing Maria for over two years now, as I started using her when she worked over at Pilates by Allison. I have a very bad back and Maria is my "physical therapist" as I like to put it. She stretches me out and works out my core to get it strengthen so I can't hurt my back. If I don't work out with her at least 3 times a week my back goes out. She works miracles. You don't need to have a back problem to go see her though, she can also make any workout tough and she will kick your ass if you want her too. I also love taking all of the classes that they offer here. There are so many at all different times that if you are like me and have to work 8-5 you can still find a time for you to come in as there many night classes as well as day. I highly recommend this place!!! read more

Great atmosphere and people. The setup is really nice as sometimes you feel like your outdoors. I especially enjoyed the TRX, Jumpboard, and Reformer classes. I've had classes with Michelle, Tracie, and Bridget and all were excellent. I'm a beginner to Pilates and I felt very welcome and well-instructed. I got into it because as a chiropractor I have learned the importance of taking care of your back and Pilates is an excellent system of maintaining a healthy, stable spine. The Studio by Bridget is by far the best pilates studio I've ever been to. All the equipment is spotless, the instructors amazing and super attuned to keeping you in proper alignment without embarrassing you in front of others, the studio and view breathtakingly beautiful. It's been only three weeks since I started taking classes after a hiatus of almost four years. Didn't take more than a class or two to remember what a great workout pilates can be. I bought a LivingSocial deal for 10 classes at the Studio by Bridget for $30--this is an immense deal, as classes are normally $15 each. I took several spin and mat pilates classes here, and really enjoyed them. The studio is very clean and comfortable, although the mat pilates/spin room is a bit small. Luckily they keep classes to a minimum of 8 people, which is nice (though you have to book your classes in advance to ensure that you get in). Unfortunately I had to stop coming here after the LivingSocial deal ran out, as I currently pay $30 a month for an L.A. Fitness membership, which is equal to only 2 classes here (you can get a small discount for signing up for blocks of classes, but it's still on the expensive side). It was a great experience, though, as it helped me feel more comfortable taking spinning classes, which I now take at LA Fitness. If you can afford to take classes here, you should! read more

I first reviewed The Studio by Bridget 2 1/2 years ago, and I'm still a HUGE fan of this place; in fact, it's the only workout place I've stuck with. The Spin classes are plentiful and to me it's the best cardio workout ever. Every instructor has a different style and they are all excellent! Pilates expertise is a given - but there are so many different types of Pilates that you will never be bored or unchallenged. The biggest change in the past year or so is the addition of boxing, which is part of the class schedule, but I also recommend private training with Adam. It is the most fun and challenging workout plus it's got the real-world benefit of learning self-defense. So, the workouts are the best...but what really makes the Studio stand out are the people - the instructors and awesome clientele - that keep me motivated every day! read more

I love working out at The Studio by Bridget! I've been coming here for a little over 2 years now and can't imagine any of the other places I tried getting me nearly as far as I have come here with Bridget and her team. I take classes with Bridget, Rebecca, Adam, and Karen, mostly, and they are all wonderful. Sometimes I have to have my phone within eyeshot because it's a morning class and they are all very understanding if I have to send a quick text or if I have to leave a class early for a meeting. They're all very encouraging and supportive of my personal goals and journey. I love that I never feel like I'm being judged by any of my classmates or my instructors. If anything, I'm constantly being encouraged and supported. It's a community. There are some folks who come, sweat, and leave....but I really enjoy the motto - Happy Sweating - and that includes the instructors, the classmates, and the community. I REALLY wanted to like this place after reading all the reviews but it's just not for me. I almost felt like you already had to be in shape in order to be welcomed here, everyone there already had a great body. I got a Groupon and was looking forward to taking spin classes again on a regular basis but did not want to go back to the chain gyms. When I went to take my class I almost felt like I was an intruder. Granted I arrived about 5 minutes late but the instructor barely acknowledged me, saw me struggling with my bike setup and did not come offer to help me and there was very little interaction with the class at all, I felt like I was intruding on his personal workout rather than the usual energy you find in spin classes that I had missed so much. It's a beautiful location and space but I just did not feel welcomed at all by him or my fellow students. I decided to give it one more try to get my Groupon price worth of classes and the second time was better which is why I am giving 2 stars instead of one. Again though, the other members were not very friendly and again I sat in the lobby for quite some time before class, there was no one there and when another student and instructor walked by no one acknowledged me, not the other instructors or the students. Quite surprising for a small fitness studio. I finally went outside and waited for another class to end and asked that instructor about the next spin class which turned out to be Rebecca. Rebecca was very helpful, far more interactive with the class, very helpful with bike setup and came over and give me advice during the class out of earshot of the rest of the students. It wasn't enough though to convince me to go back again and brave the unfriendly reception I had received previously. I got a referral for another place called Excutrain for spin classes and had a completely different experience with them, The instructor was interactive and engaged and everyone was very welcoming, it's closer to the house to so it worked out but I was just really dissapointed with Studio by Bridget experience. read more
