I recently had the 42 Apex wood-burning fireplace with Green Start technology installed by the Stove Connection and I couldn't be happier with the experience. Chris and his crew arrived right on time and were professional, clean, and extremely knowledgeable about the unit, including how to use it and maintain it going forward. The installation looks great and everything was done with attention to detail. One tip for anyone choosing the Green Start technology: ask Chris to cut back the sheetrock with a Dremel tool so the box cover plate sits perfectly flush with the wall - it makes a big difference with the finished look. Left 2 messages to have someone come to my house for a fireplace insert consultation. No call back. Way to conduct business!

I purchased an expensive insert from this company just a few years ago. They installed it. It cost more than another company I had been talking with, but these guys assured me that they would do any servicing. Two years ago I paid them to come out and clean the chimney and check the insert gasket. I also had to buy a new fireplace grate as the original one fell apart. Yesterday I scheduled a service appointment for next week. Today I get a call telling me that they can't do it because they no longer have the equipment for a two-story house. Seriously? They don't have a ladder? My house is not a high rise and it's not at all difficult to access the roof. I have no problem getting up there and I'm a senior citizen! The Stove Connection has a pathetic lack of customer service and I highly recommend you DO NOT GIVE YOUR BUSINESS TO THEM! They might say they will service your fireplace, but apparently they can't be believed. read more

The fireplace is in a corner and is rounded (approx. 180 degrees). Because of the design, there were not many options to install a new gas fireplace. Bob made it happen and we were scheduled in a reasonable amount of time. One the day of the installation Bob and his crew came out and after some serious manipulation got the new fireplace installed. They were so clean that I didn't have to dust after they left!! The price of the fireplace and the labor to install it was very fair. I had been to other businesses in Placer County and The Stove Connection was by far the most reasonable. Bob and Cathy are both amazing people. They took the time to help me pick the perfect fireplace for our home. The installation didn't take long at all. They have a professional staff willing to help their customers. They will take care of the permits, plumbing for the gas line, installation of the fireplace, they will teach you how to use it more effectively, everything is included in the estimate except for the mantel and tile work. I love my new gas fireplace, after Bob and his employees finished the building and installation of the fireplace: my husband was able to build and install the mantel and we both did the tile work around the fireplace. It was a difficult but rewarding DIY weekend project. The Herringbone style of our tile was a little challenging for us but so rewarding after we were done. If you are considering installing a fireplace, give them a call, we are glad we did. He went through our 10 yr old stove and not only fixed the problem we'd been having for some time, but upon request got everything working like new. This was the best idea ever as an upgrade to our house. The existing fireplace was just to messy and to long to heat up. Instant best us so nice, fast, and no mess. Bob was so nice in holding our stove for about three months while my husband had time to run our gas lines to the other side of the house. Bob never wanted a deposit even. He trusted I wanted the stove. They were super fast on Install. Took about 2 hours. My husband was not in favor of this but now us loving it. Heats up the house fairly fast. This place is awesome! We got a beautiful stove for a reasonable price. We did a lot of homework before we decided to go with them, and by far they had the best total package around. Not only are the prices fair, but their installers are "in house" employees. You don't have to deal with a contractor on the side. Also, they completely took care of the permit, which was so nice. A competitor not only encouraged me to not get a permit, but even told me that if I really wanted one I was "on my own" to get it. Bob was right on top of everything and even gave me his personal cell number just in case the inspector had any questions. The inspector said the job was well above code and that they did a great job....very nice to hear! He came out to do an assessment of what was needed for our gas insert to be properly installed (was not connected properly when we purchased our home). Really difficult working with this company. The technician that came out to clean our stove (which we had purchased there years ago), was rude, short, unprofessional and kept telling us we were going to need a new stove soon as ours was too old. After he left I called the owner to let him know our experience. He apologized and said he would order a switch we needed "on the house" (10.00 value). We have never received it. I'm done with trying to work with them, so will not pursue any further. I do not recommend this company for purchase or service. Bryan got our LP gas fireplace insert installed and working by Christmas eve despite some inconveniences from other contractors and an inspection. He did some very nice work custom fitting the surround into our rock opening. They were very personable, timely, clean and neat. I wanted to provide my business to local small shops, especially during the holiday season. I placed a call to The Stove-Connection in Loomis (CA) to inquire about sales and service. Although the call taker answered the phone relatively promptly, he (the owner of the business) was extremely curt, dismissive and negative. He undoubtedly exhibited his feeling of inconvenience with my telephone call. I feel as though I was the courteous and professional salesman and he was the tough-to-deal-with customer; I greeted him with my name, residential location (local prospective customer) and my needs. He answered with abbreviated replies (No!) and offered no alternatives, suggestions or other local businesses and sub-contractors who possibly could assist me and would likely appreciate my business and hard-earned dollars. I WILL NEVER KNOWINGLY PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THE STOVE-CONNECTION. I will most certainly take my business to its nearest competitor, Valley Stove & Chimney, just around the corner. This incident proves that sometimes even when a consumer is conscientious and concerned with the small business man or woman, the consumer's effort, energy and human decency is wasted in a futile effort.
