Our servers were very friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely superb. The fish tasting starter with 6 different fish to sample was excellent. The black sole on bone was among the best fish dishes I've enjoyed. The other entree-brill and swordfish was very good. The grill was lightly fried and tasty, the swordfish was cooked enough but not dry. The vegetables and potatoes that accompanied the fish were well prepared and tasty. We didn't have room for dessert. I ordered the microbrewery flight and received 4 to try. The lighter beers were better in my opinion, though I usually prefer dark beer or stout. There are other highly rated restaurants in Baltimore, we didn't try any of those. In my opinion, you will likely be very satisfied at Casey's.

What a gem of a spot. The staff were super friendly and helpful. In fact, they could not do enough for us. Even though they are on the outskirts of town, it's an easy 10 minute walk or less to the pubs and restaurants in Baltimore. They also have tons of information and flyers regarding various things to do in the area. Lots of trails & water activities. Casey's is a great spot & I will definitely stay here again should I be in West Cork.

Once settled her restaurant, pub and sightseeing tips were first rate. Bed was very comfortable and house was quiet (although we were travelling during the off season). Having your own bathroom and shower is great as well. The breakfasts were top notch and ample, a light lunch at most was needed between breakfast and dinner. Central location also makes it attractive to those who like their amenities close by. Should we ever get back to Cork we would return here to stay.

Upon arriving, Olive was warm, welcoming, and took care of us with a pot of tea and chocolates and a friendly disposition that made us feel as if we were her old friends just popping by for a visit rather than strangers meeting for the first time. She had plenty of stories to share and wisdom on where to go and what to see while in Cork (and the appropriate maps to guide us in the right direction). Our room was cozy with a reasonably sized bathroom (by Irish standards) and a sweeping view over the city. The breakfast was prompt and piping hot - my husband raved about the black and white pudding, while I stuck to scrambled eggs, beans, and toast. Plus, the B&B is located a comfortable walking distance from the bus terminal and train station. I'd recommend Auburn House to any out of town visitors looking for the full B&B experience.

It's just outside the small village of Banteer, and around 17km west of the town of Mallow in north Co. Cork. Agherton Lodge is a 2-storey detached house in a very striking setting, so much so that you feel like you're the lord or lady of the manner staying in this environment, in a pleasant ranch-like way. A really nice lady who was originally from the north welcomed us the early evening we arrived, and she very kindly laid us out tea, coffee & biscuits in the open plan front room, which was much appreciated. There were spacious solid wood floors throughout, (good for my asthma), it all looked both spotlessly clean & new, as well as warm & inviting. There were 4 of us, 1 woman, 3 blokes, staying in 3 rooms. Our 'boss' and only girl each had spacious double rooms to themselves, I shared an equally spacious twin room with the other guy. It was €35 each, which I felt was very good for this standard of accommodation. The bedrooms were fantastic, bright, breezy & cheerful, all with ensuite. The doubles have a lovely indulgent looking bath. Jo was so impressed she photographed hers! The beds, even the singles were blissfully comfortable. My room had a superb south facing view of fields, trees & rolling hills in the background and horses,(very frisky horses), in the foreground, with big french windows that opened onto a balcony. It was just so lovely & peaceful standing on the balcony & watching the horses frolic around, on a lovely mild evening in October, and relaxed me completely before a show I was doing at the nearby Glen Theatre. After a bit of a drink with the generous guys at The Glen, the B&B was equally welcoming at night. It was quiet season I should stress, and it was just us 4 in residence, but bearing in that the mind the couple running it had a son, & a very friendly dog, we were given loads of space, and truly felt it was ours! Breakfast next morning was to an equally high standard, and generous. I always love places that don't seem like guesthouses but places that you feel, well at home in, and we all definitely felt at home here. Real 5 star quality, and a lovely place to base yourself if you want to explore Cork & Kerry by car.

I was welcomed with a lovely chat over tea and a scone by the innkeeper Rosaleen O'Leary! I really appreciated her taking time to get to know me and share her thoughts on Irish history and culture. My room was good sized, appealing and a great value. Showers were hot with good water pressure. The gardens on the property were just gorgeous - imagine Secret Garden type plantings. My stay included a complete hot Irish breakfast with lots of coffee, eggs and Irish bacon - similar to a fried ham. Mmmm. I enjoyed a morning walk down the road to Ross Castle, which I highly recommend. Who knew the advancements in medieval architecture and defense? Ross Castle Lodge B&B is adjacent to the Killarney National Park, and one may walk through the park to get to the 'town' of Killarney where you'll find lots of restaurants, pubs & shops. In this small & quaint town you'll find many things including a lovely bed & breakfast establishment located by the water known as Seascape B&B. I stumbled upon this lovely B&B while doing an internet search for a place to stay for one night as my daughter & I had plans to do a starlight/moonlight kayaking adventure at Reen Pier which is about 10 minutes South West of Union Hall. I could instantly tell that it was a popular placed based on how quickly it was being booked through various sites for the date I was looking to book. We arrived later in the evening than anticipated (almost 8:30pm) as we spent a little longer time at the Blarney Castle. Upon our arrival we were greeted by our hostess & the owner, Julie. This place was exactly as the pictures on their website showed and as others had described in their reviews. Julie showed us to our room, which was located on the second floor and was very spacious. The room had 2 night stands, an armoire that had an iron, ironing board, hangers, etc., a couple of dressers, chairs, and the room had it's own bathroom with shower in it (some individual rooms do not, they have to share with other rooms in the hallway), and the bathroom had a blow dryer. Julie had asked what our plans were and I mentioned the kayaking trip. She then asked if we had eaten, I said no so she called down to a local bar/restaurant, Casey's Bar, to let them know we were coming as they were getting ready to shut the kitchen down for the evening. This is what I love about the Irish, super friendly, accommodating and the hospitality is the best! There was plenty to choose from as far as Julie's home cooked breakfast goes. My daughter choose the Eggs Benedict which she loved and I choose the traditional Irish breakfast, but I said she could skip the black pudding. Julie had asked if I ever had it, I said yes the day before to which her response was that I needed to try hers as it was far better then others. And you know something, she was right, it was very flavorful! For those who don't know what black pudding is, it is made with....... wait for it.....pigs blood. Yup you read that correctly. I only ate a small portion as I just couldn't get passed the blood thing. ha ha. If you're looking for a great B&B in Union Hall I highly recommend Seascape B&B. It's quaint, lovely, has a fantastic hostess, centrally located, you can sit at the patio table and sip wine, coffee or whatever and take in the view and the town all while relaxing and enjoy all that is Seascape B&B, all that is Union Hall, all that is Ireland!
