My wife and I completely enjoyed the wonderful hospitality of Anthony and Melissa O'Shea before,…read moreduring, and after our stay at Harriet's Cottage on the Dingle Peninsula. From the moment we booked our trip until we returned back home in the US, the O'Shea's were extremely helpful in giving us information and letting us know what to expect, as well as offering fantastic recommendations for places to go and food to eat during our weeklong stay. We found the cottage itself to be very comfortable and in immaculate condition with small written placards explaining some of the quirks and idiosyncrasies of the cottage and the local area. Coming from the US, it would have been much trickier renting a car, driving on the left side, finding the best places to eat and drink...heck even getting in the cottage's front door and turning on the heat would have been confusing if not for the O'Shea's incredible attention to detail and welcoming sense of hospitality. They seemed honestly as excited about our trip as we were and checked in with us from time to time during our stay to make sure everything was well and to see if we had any questions. The town of Dingle itself is a beautiful little coastal town with plenty of shops and more than enough restaurants and pubs pedaling beautiful souvenirs and serving absolutely amazing food and drink. As a self proclaimed beer-loving foodie, the high quality stouts and seafood dishes were an especial treat. Best of all, Harriet's Cottage was no more than a ten minute walk to all of the downtown and its pure Irish charm. Other than coming to and from the airport and a few day trips to the local sights, we never used our car. Speaking of local sights, a drive around the Slea Head Loop is a must when visiting. Along the way you'll find a distillery, a brewery, a little spot to hold a lamb, ancient ruins, quaint shops, and some of the most breathtaking landscape I have ever seen. My only complaint about the entire experience was that a week just wasn't enough time to experience all the Dingle Peninsula had to offer. My wife and I are already planning our next trip and you can be sure, we'll be staying a bit longer than a week next time. Not only do I recommend that everyone on the planet visit this beautiful, fun, friendly and stunning part of the world; I recommend you make the most of your visit by staying at Harriet's Cottage and experiencing some of the most welcoming and helpful hospitality you will likely ever find. Thank you Anthony, Melissa, and Harriet O'Shea for an amazing time. We can't wait to return.

Yet another lovely stay at Klondyke House. The location is perfect along the Ring of Kerry, near…read morethe sea, surrounded by mountains and rolling green Irish countryside. This is a magical place to visit, truly enchanting. The hosts always take care of us well. They know everything about the area, having spent most of their lives in Waterville, and Cahersiveen (larger town just down the road). The Waterville Golf Links - a world class golf course - is located within minutes by car. Excellent seafood restaurants are nearby, either by car or on foot. The Waterville Craft Market is located right next door. Also nearby, the Tech Amergin Arts Centre offers all sorts of interesting classes, workshops, art exhibits, as well as amusing Irish film nights we enjoyed viewing during our stay. Lastly, behind the B&B, they have a lovely modern vacation rental property that is available to rent by the week. Having stayed in the B&B, and the vacation rental, I highly recommend both. My only complaint: I can't stay here long enough!

Prior to staying at Klondyke House, I would have been very hesitant to lodge in a B&B. I always…read morefigured that they don't offer the facilities and comfort of a hotel, and the whole "staying in someone's home" vibe was something of a turn off. Klondyke house completely changed my perceptions of this. Our room was of the standard of many hotels I've stayed in, very modern and clean. It also had a lovely bathroom (which appeared to be brand new, or else very well maintained), with a very nice, powerful shower (I like a good shower). Everything you'd expect in a hotel -- kit for making tea and coffee, hairdryer, good TV, free and fast Wifi -- it was all there. Noise does seem to travel between rooms in this house, but the other guests were very quiet. I would worry about the noise levels had there been any louder guests. The proprietors were nice and friendly, but not at all overbearing. They made polite conversation without annoying you (I'm not really a people person when on holiday, and am always wary of B&Bs because I'm worried of the hosts being up in your business). The breakfast is beautiful! A very good selection, and the soda bread is a highlight (bacon and salmon are also very good). I do prefer the buffet style of hotels, because I like to try a bit of everything when on holidays, but I appreciate this mightn't be feasible in a B&B. Maybe the hosts could encourage guests to order more than one thing from the breakfast menu? But that's a tiny gripe, the food and service were both wonderful. The property is a five minute walk into the heart of the village. There isn't a huge amount to do in Waterville itself, but it's at the centre of a beautiful part of Ireland, so there's a plenty of attractions in the vicinity. If staying for a week or so, a car would be handy for seeing the sights, but for a weekend, all you need is to make your way to the pubs for the great seafood. A highly enjoyable weekend, and the Klondyke B&B played a large part in that. I would recommend it to anyone.

I am just after a great week in Kenmare Co. Kerry. We booked a cottage throught Kenmarerentals.com,…read moreat first i thought it was another one of these agencies, but it was only when I booked that i realised that all the Houses were owner by Jer Foley. Firstly we had no problem booking the house, the web site is well laid out and you can book online safely, and you get your confirmations etc, so it takes the ease out of reserving and phoning for confirmations. We booked the Ardmullen 3 bed house , there was 5 of us and it was perfect, the houses are well laid out, all modern and well finished, so it became a Home away from Home for the 2 weeks. The house is less than 10 mins walk into the town centre, so it is perfect if you fancy a pint, and easy to walk Home afterwards. We had a great time in Kenmare, it must have been 15 years since I have been in Kerry, but Kenmare was a great base, as there is plenty to do and see there. Jer was a pleasure to deal with, and even the last night he called to the house, to see was all o.k, it was a nice touch especially since he works so hard, as well as the houses he has a very busy Bar & Guesthouse in the town centre. When he called we were just talking and i said that it is a pity that we are going home tomorrow, all jer said was ' when are you back to work ' and i told him that i was back the week after, and all he said was that he did not need the house for 2 days and we were welcome to stay on, we did at no charge ( well i think we were lucky as the other guests were not arriving until 2 days later ), but it was nice, i can highly reccomend Kenmarerentals.com as there Holiday Homes / sel catering are the best we have stayed in so far. The best thing was that myself and my wife stayed until Thursday, as Jer reserved a room for us in the Guesthouse, O Donnabhains on Henry Street, really nice. With all that is happening in the Irish economy, it was jice to get a way and relax, and feel relaxed going Home. We are booked again for Chirstmas and New Years, and cant wait to get back, even now with the roads it only took us just about 4.5 hours from Dublin, so it is not the end of the world any more. treat yourself and go
