You know how you take a million pictures on your trips, but you don't have the energy to actually do anything with them and over time your memories fade and you can barely remember what's in your pictures? Yeah, I hate that too.
One of the only specific B&Bs that we can remember from our drive around the whole of Ireland (yup, the North too) is Reendonegan House. Its location is unparalleled, right on Bantry Bay. Our trip here was way too brief. I think we arrived at dusk and left after breakfast (our trips tend to be whirlwind), but I remember I really wanted to make use of the knee-high boots we were offered to go exploring in the grounds in the dark. My husband being more practical/afraid than myself thought it was a bad idea.
Seriously though, it's this amazing 18th C house right on the water, a little piece of history, practically unchanged since that time. It's well furnished and the breakfast is good. I remember thinking the whole thing was a deal (currently about 80 Euro per night for a double). Oh yeah, and it is approved by the Irish Tourist Board which was my main criteria when I booked places (seemed to work well). As far as the hosts go, they were friendly, but we didn't strike up any life-long friendships during our short stay (who does that, really?) I wish we spent more time here, but I think we will make it back at some point. One of those many, many amazing spots in Ireland. read more
