Cork), each unique and charming in it's own way. We arrived on Saturday evening and were met by the owner, who was such a gentleman. You can tell he really loves what he does! He gave us a run through of what we would find in the cottage (leaflets on local restaurants, delivery takeouts and things to do) along with giving us directions. We stayed in Lassanroe barn which was only 5 minutes away from the main check in. When we got in, the heating had been on and the place was wonderfully cosy. A little blackboard propped on the wall read "Welcome Alan" and was accompanied by a personalised letter from the owner wishing us a lovely stay and a bottle of bubbly. The cottage was beautifully decorated and really clean. The kitchen was fully kitted out too which was handy and I ended up making some brownies that night! They really think of everything though. We had hot water bottles, robes (for the outdoor jacuzzi), DVDs and they even had Sky TV! As for the jacuzzi, it was fabulous. Perfect temperature, clean, and very private! It was really the icing on the cake! I cannot speak highly enough of this place. It was just perfect! If your looking to treat your other half or are looking for a couple retreat this is the place to go!!

In this small & quaint town you'll find many things including a lovely bed & breakfast establishment located by the water known as Seascape B&B. I stumbled upon this lovely B&B while doing an internet search for a place to stay for one night as my daughter & I had plans to do a starlight/moonlight kayaking adventure at Reen Pier which is about 10 minutes South West of Union Hall. I could instantly tell that it was a popular placed based on how quickly it was being booked through various sites for the date I was looking to book. We arrived later in the evening than anticipated (almost 8:30pm) as we spent a little longer time at the Blarney Castle. Upon our arrival we were greeted by our hostess & the owner, Julie. This place was exactly as the pictures on their website showed and as others had described in their reviews. Julie showed us to our room, which was located on the second floor and was very spacious. The room had 2 night stands, an armoire that had an iron, ironing board, hangers, etc., a couple of dressers, chairs, and the room had it's own bathroom with shower in it (some individual rooms do not, they have to share with other rooms in the hallway), and the bathroom had a blow dryer. Julie had asked what our plans were and I mentioned the kayaking trip. She then asked if we had eaten, I said no so she called down to a local bar/restaurant, Casey's Bar, to let them know we were coming as they were getting ready to shut the kitchen down for the evening. This is what I love about the Irish, super friendly, accommodating and the hospitality is the best! There was plenty to choose from as far as Julie's home cooked breakfast goes. My daughter choose the Eggs Benedict which she loved and I choose the traditional Irish breakfast, but I said she could skip the black pudding. Julie had asked if I ever had it, I said yes the day before to which her response was that I needed to try hers as it was far better then others. And you know something, she was right, it was very flavorful! For those who don't know what black pudding is, it is made with....... wait for it.....pigs blood. Yup you read that correctly. I only ate a small portion as I just couldn't get passed the blood thing. ha ha. If you're looking for a great B&B in Union Hall I highly recommend Seascape B&B. It's quaint, lovely, has a fantastic hostess, centrally located, you can sit at the patio table and sip wine, coffee or whatever and take in the view and the town all while relaxing and enjoy all that is Seascape B&B, all that is Union Hall, all that is Ireland!

Right off the start, if you plug in the address of Driftwood Bed and Breakfast in your GPS, you will end up on a golf course behind the actual B&B. Driftwood is located right on R569, so stay on that road and it will be on the left if you're coming from Kenmare (if you hit the old church you've gone too far). GPS issues aside, you're in for a treat at Driftwood B&B. It feels more like staying in a good friend's home than anything else. Your hosts Mignonne and Peter are immensely friendly and knowledgeable in the area, and more than accommodating. Parking is readily available out front of the B&B and it's a 10-15 min walk to downtown Kenmare and a good jumping off point for the Ring of Kerry. The rooms are large and plush, with a large bed (if it's a double it's a big double, probably closer to a queen), private bathroom, satellite TV, and fast WiFi. Everything looks to be really new and up-to-date, and the place is refreshingly modern and yes, there are pieces of driftwood decorating the walls. The breakfast is made to order by Peter, who provides a menu with several options along with a serve yourself breakfast area. The food is pretty good and light, a welcome reprieve in Ireland in which you usually stuffed with large breakfasts. All in all, you'll probably love Driftwood B&B, and rightfully so. It's ideally located in Kenmare, near downtown, the Ring of Kerry, and several golf courses, and with new a modern amenities. I highly recommend.

The bedrooms are huge and beautifully furnished, complete with comfortable beds and writing desks. Each room is named after a writer - and each one has its own quirks and benefits. The Carberry offers wonderful light for writing and has the added benefit of a bath, while the Ross gives you pretty views over the harbour. Breakfast is between 8am and 10am, but if you're working on a project, Katarina will make a late breakfast for you; anything from scrambled eggs and bacon to a full Irish. It seems nothing is too much bother - Katarina's whole philosophy is to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The house is a short stroll from the local bars and restaurants - though Katarina will set you up with a healthy and filling evening meal for just €10 a night. You can opt to eat in the dining room or in the living room in front of a blazing fire. Check out the wine list too - there are some pretty tasty choices available. If you want to explore the local area, there are plenty of walks nearby - I'd recommend visiting Sailor's Hill. See if you can meet Cornelius Griffin and get the story of the metal cross and the watch tower. If you've got a car, there are plenty of villages or beaches to explore. The true beauty of Grove House is that it really is a home away from home, without the interruptions! It's the perfect base for a week or weekend away. I managed to redraft half of my novel while staying here, thanks to the lovely surroundings, relaxing atmosphere and thoughtful service. If you intend to visit this region, make sure you stay here.

Its really designed for adults and couples wanting to get away. Most rooms have a balcony looking out onto pastoral scenes. This was by far the most relaxed stay I've had on this trip. Even though you are a stones throw from a bustling tourist town you feel none of that here. I could return and spend an entire week or two here as a base to explore everything southern Ireland has to offer. I hope to be back.

Victorian decor , an old fireplace... The gal that checked us in sat at a table on the right, was super sweet, and gave us our keys. Parking was easy and no issues. Our room was in the Coach House, a separate building from the hotel. Must stay in Room 1 !!! A beautiful landscaped courtyard lead to our room. Our room was spacious and filled with antique furniture.. I love antiques. We had our private patio space with patio furniture and with the most scenic emerald green views! And views of a field of sheep : ) What was really nice...our huge bathroom. Annnnnd it had heated floors and a heated towel rack, a spacious shower, separate tub, and a vanity table. Appreciated the complimentary book provided regarding the history of the hotel, complimentary water, and bike rentals (wish we had time to utilize the bikes!) The breakfast room was a nice addition. There was a mini buffet ( just a few items like fruit, granola, etc) and a made to order menu. Food was just ok. The hotel does have a high end restaurant- must make reservation, and a casual bar restaurant. Perusing the hotel lobby and adjacent rooms were lovely. Wish we had more time here. Killarney National Park was nearby and within walking distance. We walked to and from and within the entire park, and booked in 11 miles!!! A beautiful space and fun town to visit, near the Ring of Kerry.

The home is furnished with the most beautiful antiques. The breakfast is amazing. Fresh herbs from the garden, and the freshest best breakfast of our trip.
