Star Trader is one of the go to stores located in Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park if you're looking for Star Wars themed items! On our latest Disneyland trip in June, one of the evenings we stopped by Star Trader before the store closed! This store originally opened up in 1967 and has changed during the years! When the debut of Star Tours opened, it was then transformed into Star Trader! Inside the store, you'll see a large X-Wing Starfighter hanging from the ceiling! Disneyland used to have the PeopleMover operating, but now the windows have been replaced with other projections. The store is open from 8:00 A.M to 12:00 A.M during the summer hours. There is so much merchandise in this store! You'll find limited edition collectibles, apparel and so much more! There is an assortment of Star wars merchandise, and Disneyland memorabilia. My daughter and I ended up picking up a 70th anniversary snow globe and shirts from here! There is also a unique experience at Start Trader. You can assemble a personalized lightsaber with different components and even adjustable sound effects! After riding Star Tours, you'll be dropped off into The Star Trader. Such a fun place, it has a total Disney vibe without having to go inside the park. Cast members are always super friendly and willing to answer any questions or help in any way. For those of us that still remember the days, this was the old Rainforest Cafe and you can still see the cool designs. They have a great selection of items including some limited time offerings. Before Disney acquired Lucasfilm and Galaxy's Edge was built, this was the place to go to at Disneyland to get your Star Wars merchandise. It has been around for some time. The Star Trader is located in Tomorrowland next to Star Tours and Space Mountain. When you exit the Star Tours ride, they make you pass through this gift shop before you head back into the park. It is a pretty large shop that has a full size X-wing fighter hanging from the ceiling. The Star Trader sells souvenirs, clothing and toys. Majority of the items in the store is Star Wars merchandise along with other Disney and science fiction themed merchandise. You can even custom-make your own lightsaber here. I found an area for Princess Leia with her costume and everything. You can make your own lightsabers. WOW! The Star Trader in DTD?!!!!! Need to pickup some Star Wars themed items b4 leaving Disneyland? The Trader in DTD is the perfect place. Located where Rainforest Cafe use to be, it's an easy walk from the DTD monorail station. Found the Mandalorian collectible medallions a treat. Only available at the DTD location. The Star Trader is the largest of the retail stores inside Tomorrowland. Before Star Wars Galaxy's Edge, The Star Trader was the main location for Star Wars Merchandise in the park. With Star Tours, the shop still carries a substantial amount of Star Wars items. At this location, guests may customize and build their own lightsaber for purchase. There are other Disneyland space themed goods as well. If pin trading, there is usually a pin trading board available. If planning on riding Star Tours, you may want to save visiting this shop until then. Star Tours exits into the retail space. One must walk through the majority of the store before existing. One of my favorite parts of Star Trader is the sign outside. At night, the sign lights up to show Mickey dressed in a space suit, tumbling in space. It's an old neon sign. It's probably more nostalgic than truly a must-see. read more

This store is located in the downtown Disneyland district. They do require a bag check to get inside the shopping district. The store is one of the 1st stores you see on the left. My nephew wanted to complete his collection of life sabers so I was shopping for him. The workers at the register were very helpful. They looked through his list and helped me via the phone with him. We did find the one he needed and they boxed it up and helped make a tape handle for me to carry. I found the store to be helpful and convenient. They could not ship it for me because it was a limited edition but I found a UPS store nearby. read more

This is the shop that the exit for Star Tours filters through, so it can get a bit crowded. I love all the Star Wars merchandise, so I do frequent this shop outside of just when I ride Star Tours. They do offer mobile merchandise checkout, which is a great way to skip the line to check out! Also, there's a fuel rod station just outside if you need to swap out. I visited this shop when I was in Tomorrowland but not primarily to look for Star Wars merchandise. It is the gift shop that is attached to the Star tours ride. However, I was in search of a Halloween Stitch plush wearing a spider cobweb outfit for my daughter. Imagine my delight that after all day of searching I found it here!! I learned that this was the hottest selling item in the theme park. Unfortunately they cannot hold anything you wish to buy if you have something pressing in the meantime. I was glad to just put him back and grab him when I returned. I also purchased an Apple Watch band for myself and a couple pieces of clothing. They do honor the Chase Disney Visa discount if you make the minimum purchase. Half of the location currently has Mickey 2019 souvenirs...I'm hoping this location stays and isn't being weeded out with Galaxy's Edge opening! Some days I just want to pop in and get my SW fix on. Cute store as you exit the Star Tours ride. My son had been wanting to do a "build your own" lightsaber. Their build station was amazing! We had a little trouble at first trying to figure out how to put it together and thought that we had it right. When we got to the counter to pay, a cast member told us that we were missing pieces and took us to the back to show us which ones. That was SO nice of them as we would have never known we were missing anything. We did not have to pay for the anything extra and we had already paid. I can't express how nice that was for us. Highly recommend this store and the cast members here! read more

I love to look at all the new pins that they have or build a droid and R2D2. They recently added a section where you can have your name engraved onto a name tag in starwars language! "It's Great to be a Kid Again!" One of my favorite shops at Disneyland, this store is the themed shop for Space Mountain/Hyper Space Mountain. They are always stocked and have more variety than most other stores for other rides. The shop is always rotating inventory and every visit to the park calls for a trip here to check out the new items. My little one loves this shop. We have purchased everything from pins, Ray shirts to light sabers and the BB-8 Robot. This is one of her favorite shops. The store is always organized, This is true even with the mobs of people making a mad rush during the 60th Anniversary Celebration, Christmas shopping and the Star Wars release. Customer service is always good and the cast members are most helpful. I especially like the 20% savings with the pass! Overall, I am a fan! read more

Review #600: If you're a fan of Disney and a fan of Star Wars, then you'll love this shop at Disneyland. Star Trader can be found at the exit of the Star Tours ride in Tomorrowland. There are the basic Disney themed items but the majority of the items sold here relate to Star Wars in some way. You can build your own lightsaber. You can buy a mini ewok or Chewbacca. You can even buy Star Wars themed bath toys like I did for my nephew. Everything in here is a mix of sci-fi fantasy with a dash of Disney thrown in. The staff is nice and amicable. It tends to get busy later in the day but for the most part you can always find something that you can't find elsewhere in the park. So take a ride on Star Tours, and then get lost in the Star Trader. read more

The build-your-own lightsaber station. Besides trying to cross the parade of lights to get to the other side of Disneyland there's nothing more frustrating than the build-your-own lightsaber station. There are two types of people at this saber station. The ones that hog up the limited area and build sabers but have no intention to buy, and those that want to buy but have no room to build.. It's a little convoluted on actually how to build a proper lightsaber. There are simple pictures of various saber models that you can make but it's picture only. Tip - Just grab one of the workers manning this station and ask them to help. This will save you a lot of time and frustration. These "Disneyland" lightsabers have been pretty reliable so far ( one month in). Cheaper unlicensed light sabers at SeaWorld are unlikely to survive the walk to back to the car because they're so cheap and brittle. These Disneyland ones are about 30 bucks but I think they're worth it. This is the shop that you get dumped into after you exit Star Tours. If you love Star Wars, it is the greatest shop in the park, and if you REALLY love Star Wars, it is one of the greatest shops ANYWHERE! I could easily dump my entire Disney budget in this place alone, so it was with extreme care that I started looking around the other night, fresh off of Star Tours and 5 minutes before park closing. I figured I couldn't do much damage in 5 minutes, right? So here I was, trying to decide what ONE thing to buy (plush backpack designed to look like Yoda holding onto your back? AWESOME. Jedi robe for toddler? AWESOME. T-shirt with a picture of a Storm Trooper holding a Mickey Pop that says "The Dark Side is Sweet." AWESOME.) And then I saw it: the Build your own Lightsaber bar. Let me repeat that. BUILD YOUR OWN LIGHTSABER! I felt a little faint from the giddiness. Oh, I thought, this has GOT to be expensive. Nope--only $19.95. I grabbed Friend (fellow Star Wars junkie) and Toddler, and we got to building. OH.EM.GEEEEE. It was SO much fun! And the resulting lightsaber is really cool! It comes with three different "crystals" that cause the lightsaber to make different noises--you can change them out at will. Of course, you get to choose your color (Toddler chose red--BADASS!). Put the whole thing together and then when you check out, the cashier installs your "power source" (2 C batteries). The thing lights, up, makes noise, and is the actual size a lightsaber should be. AAAAAWESOOOOOOME. The best $20 I spent in the park. Hands down. read more

Me and my son had just got off star tour when the custom light saber area caught his eye. He's only 4 years old and begged me to head over there. It was crazy busy! And the two employees that are there to help build light sabers were constantly helping kids. I assumed by the time it was me and my sons turn the associates would be really tired and rushing us. However the woman that helped my son customize his light saber took her time and made my sons day extra special by making sure he was involved in picking everything he wanted and most importantly she did it happily! I am so pleased with awesome customer service me and my son received despite a crazy busy environment. I didn't get the woman's name but she had shorter hair and wore glasses and was working Oct 28 at 7:00pm. read more

If you love Star Tours, you know all about the Star Trader. When I was a kid, I always wanted to build my very own lightsaber. Now that I'm older, DIY lightsaber build doesn't interest me as much because I would love an all metal movie prop. They sell a bunch of Star Wars items, but there are some Disney items that have some Star Wars influence. Those are the cool things I would buy. It's a trap! This is definitely one of our favorite stores to visit when we go to Disneyland. It's located in Tomorrowland next to Star Tours. If you are a diehard Star Wars nerd, this is the place for you to go. The store is dedicated to Star Wars and you'll find all kinds of Star Wars items. You can build your own light saber, find a dress that looks like R2D2 or a rookie backpack! Of course they have the basics too...tshirts, key chains, etc. The prices are what you would expect for a theme park store but not overly priced. And they have a lot of items that are probably only found here. What makes this store cool is that they also have Disney items mixed with Star Wars. Think Darth Mickey. This store has always been fun and I can't wait to go back the next time I visit Disneyland since the new Star Wars themed land should be open by then. read more

I haven't been to Disneyland recently, since I no longer live in So Cal (or have an annual pass). But there was a time when I did, and I would be at Disneyland twice a month - at the very least. I would always like to visit The Star Trader whenever I was in Tomorrowland. After you come out of Star Tours, this is the store you end up in (those Imagineers sure were smart, because of course you want to buy Star Wars-themed items right after enjoying Star Tours). Because I like Star Wars, it's always fun to see what kind of merchandise this store has. I don't really buy the apparel, but I like seeing the shirts, magnets, key chains and picture frames. I also really like looking at anything Tsum Tsum related, in addition to anything Princess Leia themed. What can I say ... she's still my favorite character from the franchise. One cool factor about this store is that they have a section where you can build your own lightsaber. The last time I visited, there was also a section where you could put together your own droids (similar to R2), which adds a nice personal element. This store has always been crowded, during any visit of mine, but there's always lots to see. Again, even though I don't necessarily buy any of the t-shirts for myself, that's not to say that I don't check out the selection. Some of the Darth Vader and Storm Trooper ones are really amusing (one of my favorite prints is the one where Darth Vader is riding the space shuttle and holding a Mickey ice cream, as well as the Storm Trooper one with his different "expressions"). read more

$30 for a single sided deluxe light saber and one happy kid later, we found ourselves at the Star Trader a second time later that evening purchasing a second deluxe light saber and leaving with two happy boys who were then able to battle later in our darkened hotel room. In fact, if you have big children who grew up in the 70's and 80's never knowing anything of the horrors of the prequels, this store can also be trouble. Especially since it's where Star Tours pushes you out into. You may as well watch your wallet leave your pocket as it's pulled out by the force, because there's no way you can walk through here after riding star tours and not suddenly want something completely nerdy and completely useless. They got a build your own lightsaber. A slew of star wars related toys. Hell, they even have a replica star tours cruiser. Dirty Pool, Star Trader. And here I thought I would never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy... and here you come along. If the people mover still existed, you would see them ride above you. Though that's another rant in itself. Over all, this store is really neat. You'll find R2D2 mickey mouse ears here. That alone should be on your wish list as well as the wish list of any self respecting nerd around these parts. read more

I've always loved the Astronaut Mickey progressive neon sign on the outside, and it is kind of neat how there are "vacation" posters featuring Star Wars-universe planets on the way from Star Tours into Star Trader, but I'm kind of over all the toys and clothes and junk. I do like the fact that it's connected to Starcade, although that's nothing like it used to be back in the day. The absolute best things about Star Trader, though, were the oh so futuristic phone booths they used to have. Remember those? They were just vaguely cubical rooms with glass walls, stools, and this weird blue carpeting. I remember feeling so special standing in there with my friends and my friend's mom as she called my mom and we could all hear her. (This was also the first and only place I ever saw a payphone that had a speakerphone feature.) read more

This is a pretty awesome shop, with tons of Star Wars memorabilia, as well as lots of other Disney stuff. The exit from the Star Tours ride pours out into this store and I usually end up spending a good chunk of time in this shop afterwards, looking around and convincing myself that I don't need more nerdy stuff cluttering up my house. Star Trader is pretty much the biggest gift shop outside of Main Street and World of Disney at Disneyland. Best part is the mini Star Wars store where you can build your own lightsaber. Keep meaning to do that... Only problem is that it is more chaotic than most stores as Star Tours exits there and Space Mountain and Captain Eo are nearby too. Furthermore, there's also the arcade which has somewhat been converted to have merchandise too and looks incredibly hastily put together. Overall, if you have sons, tomboys, or kids-at-heart, this is a great place to go for some Disney stuff. read more

During our visit to Disneyland we had to pick up some souvenirs for the kids. Of course they loved all the toys and wanted to buy everything in the store. We decided to pick up some custom embroidery Mickey Mouse hats. The person was very helpful at the counter. After we paid, they told us to come back in about half an hour to pick them up as we were queued up for the embroidery. The work came out nice on the hats, but they stitched over the tag on the inside. It wasn't a big deal to us so we took it as is. We also didn't want to wait again. This store is great for souvenirs and has lots of great finds. read more

"NOT the Friendliest Return Policy" I purchased 4 rain ponchos at Disneyland. At about 5 pm, I realized that my family and I would not be using them. The ponchos were unused and in pristine condition. Even though I had my original receipt, I was not allowed to return the ponchos nor receive merchandise credit. I was told by a Supervisor that it's against Disneyland policy. When I purchased the ponchos I was never told that it was a final sale, nor is it posted near the ponchos, and it's not specified on the recept! Very disappointed!! I like this particular Disney Resort store because it has a fairly large selection of Disney pins. Great for pin collectors or swappers. It's across the way from the newly revamped Star Tours ride, and near the Buzz Lightyear ride. read more

This is my favorite store in either park!!!! Other stores in either of the parks sell Star Wars things, but this is the only store that does it exclusively. There's a corner of the store that sells general Disney merchandise, but everything else in the store is purely Star Wars. Every time I come in they have different merchandise for sale. There are some things that they keep in rotation, but most things are usually replaced with something new very frequently. The "Judge me by my size" things have stayed for a while, and the jersey shirts that just say "Star Wars" on the front have been around for a while, but there's less and less of it every time. There are always new shirts that say new things or have cool pictures on them so if you see one that you really like then you should grab it when you see it because you never know if it'll be there next time. The newest things they have in that I really like are two different types of dresses, one that looks like R2-D2 and one that looks like Darth Vader's suit. The other thing I really love that they have in is an R2-D2 rolling luggage case!!! It's so cute! It's not very big, but it's round in the front and when you press the button on the front it makes noises like R2 does. They've had the section where you make your own lightsaber for a while, but now they added a little area where you can make your own droid. They're small and adorable and a great addition to the store. They also sell the Disney Infinity game in the store with the starter sets for each console and all of the additional characters that go along with it. Not only do they have the Star Wars Merchandise (Chewbacca, Ewok Backpacks, Light Sabers) but they also have the traditional Disneyland stuff (Pins, Mouse Ear ofcourse) Love this shop! read more
