Most restaurants in Seaside will go out of business if the locals are not happy. Summertime the tourists carry the town but fall winter and spring the locals help keep it going. I got the American taco with chicken. It was much bigger than a typical street taco so you get your money's worth. They don't hold back on the meat either! The taco tasted good but was not particularly spectacular. I was a bit disappointed because of the hype from the comments. Customer service was EXCELLENT and I didn't have to wait long for my order. Plenty of seating indoors. Bathroom was clean. Parking is a bit limited I didn't come at a busy time. Overall it was good and I would come back but I wouldn't go out of my way or anything. read more

SO good! We've been coming to seaside each summer for over 16 years and we always go here for lunch at least once per trip. Their food is amazing; like crave-worthy amazing. The carne asada burrito is the stuff of dreams. Yes, their burritos can be "overstuffed" and it usually ends up coming apart at some point of the meal, but compared to the alternative it's a great problem to have. They provide forks in case you want to eat the fallen bits. I just ask for light rice and beans and problem solved. And their salsas..... oh my gosh, so delicious!! I love this restaurant and have eaten here my whole life. I will say though, that the new guy who took over to answer the phone was very rude when we visited in May. He also got our order wrong! It was a sad experience but I know there's been some changes lately. We will still eat there but hope the new kid chills out and learns to be more respectful. read more

Great food. Limited hours but the food is worth it if you're from California and missing authentic! I prefer the beef over pork as the pork tends to have a bit of fat to it which I don't like. The order was to go so that's why in my picture it is in that container. I didn't see if they had jalapenos as an option, if they did that would've been perfect on these nachos. This place is so good that (a) it's hard to describe and (b) I almost don't want to let you in on the secret. Hard to describe--because by describing The Stand (which has nothing to do with the Stephen King novel, darn it) I might not make this even sound like a Mexican restaurant. You know what you grew up with? Lots of orange colored rice and a pool of beige refried beans with Monterey Jack cheese oozing over the top, with your gooey enchilada in between? The Stand has nothing like that...instead your quesadilla might be stuffed with big chucks of tender-crisp cooked zucchini and celery along with your carnitas, and your combination plate will come with black or pinto beans glistening in their goodness with bright red salsa and green lettuce as well as whatever you have ordered on your plate. The flavors are truly outstanding, and it's hard to believe that they can crank all this out so quickly and so fresh with minimal staff. Everyone seems like they are running around at top speed, and it seems like they would want to cheat by keeping a big vat of pre-cooked soggy stuff to throw on the plates, yet everything that we order still seems like they whipped it up at the moment you order. We found The Stand one holiday season looking for tamales for Christmas morning breakfast and The Stand's tamales did not disappoint (tough act to follow as back home in Cali I'd get the tamales that Maria Elena sold door-to-door at Christmastime). Be patient waiting in line--the people there really are going flat-out. Tip generously, they earn it (and I think people cheap out because the place looks dicey and fast-foodish, I think people are tipping for ambience not food and service, which is a shame). Best Mexican food I've found between Portland and the Pacific. read more

Just stopped here after visiting the seaside beach. We found the stand in yelp and are very glad we did. Looking at the outside we certainly would have driven right bye the place. WE ARE GLAD WE LISTENED TO THE YELP REVIEWS. You order at the counter and the staff brings you the food. I had three recession tacos- 2 beef and 1 chicken. The flavor was spectacular! I also ordered chips and salsa. The salsa is obviously home made and very fresh. My significant other had a tostada salad and she was equally impressed with the freshness and taste. While waiting on our food another patron asked how we found the place and I mentioned we used yelp. He stated that the stand is a local hidden secret and my reply was not any more. We just arrived in Seaside, and were in the mood for tacos. We figured out that the Stand closed at 5 pm-- and it was 4:40. Jetted over and grabbed some takeout fish tacos and grilled veggie and carne asada quesadilla. The fish tacos are exactly like the pictures on here! You get a ton of tilapia, delicious tortillas, a creamy sauce, and really tasty black beans and rice. The pico over the rice is super tasty. The grilled veggie and carne asada quesadilla wasn't pressed like a quesadilla, but I suspect they call it a quesadilla because of the cheese they use. It's really tasty. The only downside to this place is that they're closed on the weekend. Make sure to get to Seaside while they're open! Second visit report: extra delicious! read more

Ended up stopping here on my way to Portland, OR and all I can say was that the food was absolutely delicious. The carne asada tacos I ordered were so flavorful that I was left wanting to order a second round of them. I also recommend ordering the tacos de carnitas since they were just as good as the carne asada tacos. We stopped by The Stand on our way to Cannon Beach after our Airbnb host raved about this place. Their corn tortillas are freshly made and that bumped them up a star. We got their street tacos with pork and a pork tamale. The meat was well seasoned and of high quality. I took off a star because when I opened by tamale the meat was outside of the corn meal and it was pretty dry. Underwhelming is the word that comes to mind. We stopped here after reading the reviews. It did the job. The price was very reasonable, $7 for a burrito bowl and $2 for a fountain drink. My burrito bowl was advertised to have grilled veggies. It included the usual onions and peppers, but also some unexpected ones like zucchini, mushrooms and celery. I added a fair amount of green salsa.
