Perhaps the finest salsa on the west coast, and great meals at wonderful prices. Now...I'll explain for the one star rating. I ordered Carnitas Tacos and a Carne Asada Burrito. After eating the Carnitas Taco, I was so looking forward to the carne asada burrito. I can't say how disappointed I was with the burrito. Half of the meat was fat. My friend and I shared and we both had the same experience. I'm thinking this was a one time thing. If it wasn't for the atmosphere this would be a 5 star for the food. I'm finding out more and more and like a good book, a restaurant should not be judged by its cover. It doesn't look like much, on the outside or the inside. It's a "fast food" style set up, order and pay first. We came because the reviews were so good. We were not disappointed in the food! I'm always expecting quality Mexican food to come from very talented Latinos, to my surprise I didn't see any south of the border workers there. So that makes it even more impressive that Americans can achieve the quality of flavors and authenticity of Mexican food in this place. It was incredible! So good that as soon as I started to eat I forgot to stop and take a picture!! Portions are Great sized, and prices are perfect! We got carne Asada plate with black beans. Loaded with roasted veggies (mushrooms, zucchini, onions and red peppers) the meat was cooked perfectly and so flavorful! I am dreaming about that flavor. Others in my group had pork with marinated cabbage plate, and bean and cheese burrito. Everyone loved what they ordered. We were not disappointed. We almost judged it by the looks, we are so glad we didn't! By the way it's not dirty, just doesn't look like much. Basic. I also will add that there are some very awesome pictures on the wall of Mexican parades and really colorful costumes and stuff that I did enjoy looking at. Great place! Went to the Stand today expecting the best Mexican food this side of the Rio Grande and instead I got the best Mexican food this side of the Rio Grande......FOR FREE!!!! It was a customer appreciation day for every single person who came in the door today totally unannounced "today's special 100% off", it was funny watching the customers trying to mentally deal with the fact that this family just wasn't going to take money from anyone today, precious really. We stopped in early September when passing through town. I had a special that was grilled fresh vegis and pork on a tortilla.. this was one of the best things I have ever eaten in my life! I will always return to this little place when in Seaside! I only hope they have that grilled vegi dish when I return. YUM! read more

We went here after almost going to one of the tourist traps just down the street. My wife and I each had a tostada and the kids had a burrito and enchiladas. The carne asada on my tostada was awesome and the carnitas on my wife's was great too. The salsa was also spot on. We have currently been living in Seaside for 1 1/2 years now from Seattle Area. This is by far the best kept secret in town. The stand has down right the best food here and gives and big city restaurant a run for the money. Great prices! Try the Torte Sandwich! OMG it is topped with 1/2 of an avacado, yes a whole half and piled mountain high with the meat of your choice all shredded. This is a out of the ordinary type of Mexican food place and # 1 on our list so far for the coastal area. Remember though cash and checks no credit cards. It's a hole in the wall restaurant, but super delicious! I often get cravings for the stand! Prices are cheap and portions are great! Everything's super fresh. Food usually comes out super quick unless you go during the lunch rush. The owner's the only one who works in the kitchen so so don't get all antsy. Not open on the weekends. read more

Authentic hole in the wall with awesome food. We live in Seaside and all the locals know that this is the BEST in town but only open M-F 11-6 and cash/check only. If we had one suggestion, it would be that we wished they were open later for dinner and on weekends. Also a credit card scanner might be nice(who carries cash anymore).
