Solid choice in downtown Moultrie. Service was great. Our waitress kept checking on us and provided us updates when the entrees were taking longer than expected. For an appetizer, we got the fried green tomatoes. They were alright, they didn't have too much flavor. I wouldn't recommend them. For entrees, I got the chile glazed salmon with quinoa which was delicious. I highly recommend it. The salmon went perfectly with the quinoa versus the jasmine rice it's normally served with. The hubby got the chicken tender burger that came with fries and he got the cheese dipping sauce. His burger was huge and he couldn't finish it, so order it if you are super hungry. The have a nice cocktail menu. I got the lavender drink which didn't look fancy but tasted good. read more

Visited The Square on 11/27/19. I was in town visiting family for the Thanksgiving holidays and decided to stop at this restaurant. To my surprise the place was decorated nicely, and food was very good. We were greeted by MiMi and she took care of us and was our waiter. She was awesome, friendly, answered our questions, and took care of our needs. Our food came out right away. I will definitely go back and recommend others to this establishment. read more

While my review is a bit biased because of my long-time familiarity to the operator, I would suggest The Square as a must-visit when you're in South GA. I would recommend starting your meal with fried green tomatoes; nothing says "old south" like tangy green tomatoes lightly-fried in house-made savory cornbread. The flavor combination is excellent. I had the flat iron steak; my guests had a special Philly Steak sandwich made of the same steak. The steak (served at a perfect medium pink) was tender and flavorful; nothing extra needed. Simple, but flavorful baby red potatoes accompanied the meal. The bar played an amazing supporting role during dinner with a tasty Old Fashioned (actually, two). I finished with a tasty Pineapple Upside Cake shot - Jeffrey made a tasty dessert. The Square is definitely the best way to escape the lazy South GA heat. read more

I can only assume there has been a change in ownership. The square used to have really good pizza and wonderful salads. Now they serve premade crust loaded with imitation cheese. Prices remain high for this area, but the food has lost all flavor and quality. Service was slow, but attentive. read more

Had dinner tonight (in town for business) and sat at the bar; this place is in a former storefront which has been renovated with modern, rustic, eclectic. Met the owner/chef at the bar and his tremendous bar staff; all were so friendly and the fried green tomatoes were very good with goat cheese sandwiched in between. All salad dressings are made in house; I recommend the sweet ginger. Ordered the special, Steak Au Poive with farm smashed potatoes and asparagus. My fillet was cooked perfectly and the sauce, yummy!!! I give it 5 stars for the combination of customer service and food. If you like delicious food, varied wine, beer, and spirit selection, a comfortable setting and feeling as if you are family, I recommend The Square heartily. read more

I've been coming to this town for 20 years now to visit with family. The one major drawback about spending time in Moultrie is the lack of any decent places for dining out. So I'm very happy to get out the word about The Square, located right across the street from Moultrie's historic Courthouse. Important to me is that they have a full bar, with a nice selection of fresh Georgia micro-brews. Not only that, they also offer high quality Georgia sourced cheeses and seem to have other locally sourced products. All of which adds up to a great dining experience, in which you get a proper taste of the local flavor. At my table we had pork, chicken, shrimp and a really nice lean version of meatloaf that used fresh vegetables instead of bread as an additive. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The service is friendly and warm, and this may sound weird, but the air-conditioning level is just right. There are too many places down here where you feel like you are walking into an icebox. Which brings me to the decor. The building appears to be a 19th century storefront type structure, that has been totally renovated with exposed brick walls and would not look out of place back home in Philly or New York. One other thing I should add is that for the quality of the food, I would also consider the prices very reasonable. Moultrie has a true gem here. I highly recommend The Square. read more

My fiancé and I went to an early dinner here and were ordering burgers. I was shocked when I found out you pay a dollar per topping you get on your burger. Then, when I received my meal it looked good, so I took a bite and I long hair was in my food. The burger was also overcooked and I tried to eat around where the hair was. The waitress hardly checked on us and it seemed like the place was ran by teenagers. The fries were good though and the place was literally empty other than us and the few teenage workers. We paid and tipped and left. We won't be coming back. read more

We are in town for the AG Expo and wanted to try some local fare. After seeing the 10-5 star reviews, we figured it would be worth a try! Let me tell you, as someone who has eaten at some of the finest steak houses in Philly and New York City, I can honestly say that the NY strip was THE BEST steak I have ever eaten. Hands down the worst service I have had in a VERY long time. We ordered our food, one pizza with cauliflower crust, among other things. Thirty minutes later the server informed us they were out of cauliflower crust. Please keep in mind we were the only ones in the restaurant when we placed our order. Apparently it took them thirty minutes to figure out they had no cauliflower crust. There was no apology, no discount. We will never be back.....did I mention that some of the meal (the salads) came out BEFORE the appetizers. I would rather go anywhere else then eat here again....... read more

The owners took such good care of us when we were in town doing a Music event this past summer. Not only was the service top notch, the food was amazing!! The Square has a nice comfortable and beautiful dining area. The rustic decor made my wife and me feel as if we were home in Nashville. I had lunch here with a bus tour group this week and it was excellent! The black angus burger was one of the best burgers I've ever had, and the seafood chowder was wonderful. The negative definitely outweighed the positive on this visit. I enjoyed the atmosphere and some of the craft beers were pretty good. Unfortunately, our server was extremely rude and unprofessional and luckily passed us off to a much nicer server because she was too busy. Our appetizer was cold and she appeared bothered when asked to exchange it. I ordered the chicken tender basket, which was $12 on this night- i had 4 tiny, dry chicken strips that had obviously sat under a heat lamp for awhile. The other person had the "famous" $10 cheeseburger that was dried out and burnt. A real disappointment as we were excited to try this place after checking the reviews. read more

I love local food and eating at the Square is exciting for me when I come in to town!!! I enjoyed my spaghetti squash with pesto shrimp (my comrades were not impressed with their meals, comments were salad sucked, gumbo watery and tomato bisque too sweet) and...it took quite some time for it to come to table, my nice's meal was not even ticketed and then served once everyone else was finished and we were still charged :( and I had my two crazy young ones which was a bit stressful as they were getting antsy (...again food took quite some time to get to table) and the waitress who was so sweet said thank you for waiting patiently it is crazy in here...ummm there where maybe 10 tables...not too busy...any way long story short not the best experience next time I hope for better and will probably leave littles ones with babysitter!!! read more

My first time going will be my last. The atmosphere looks neat, but the food was NOT worth the $$$. The bill was $60 for mediocre food in small portions. The salads were literally out of a bag from the grocery store and had that weird bag taste. It wasn't very busy but the food took way too long to get. My husband and I came here on a Thursday night, we were seated in one of the front booths, and promptly forgotten (ignored?). For over 15 minutes we sat alone, no drink or food orders taken- not even a glass of water! If the menus hadn't already been at the table, I doubt we would have ever seen those either. No one ever stopped to introduce themselves as waitstaff or offer any explanation why we weren't being served. The 3-4 young women we did see working were all hanging around the front entrance- but surely this restaurant doesn't have multiple hostesses and no servers..?? We craned our necks, tried to flag down people across the restaurant, but nothing- nada. For the first time in my life, we got up and left the restaurant having never been asked for any order or told of any issue going on. Considering we were out because it was our ANNIVERSARY, this was a memorable dinner but unfortunately not in a good way. read more

Let me begin my review by saying that "CUSTOMER SERVICE IS EVERYTHING!!!" I've never dined in as a patron. I've always had my selections to go. The Square has the BEST pimento cheese I have ever tasted in my life. BUT....the last time I ordered it, it was missing that smoky spicy flavor that I absolutely love and the texture was not right. It was too chunky and not mixed well. Not good at all. I was very disappointed because I always look forward to enjoying it time and time again. As a customer, I am going to inform any restaurant if I'm not pleased with what I purchase; in hopes that the establishment would replace or refund my order. DID NOT HAPPEN HERE!!!! My complaint was given and all I got was thank you; I'll be sure to let the kitchen staff know.
