Update: the owner wrote a SUPER nasty response and comment which originally I was going to respond to but then decided to take the high road. I never made my review "worse" and the two people I was with felt completely differently than the owner did about our experience (which is crazy since apparently all 3 of us heard "wrong"). I'm not going to dignify it with a lengthy response since again, I'm going to take the high road so I'll just say that we will have to agree to disagree about EVERYTHING that occurred, including multiple other patrons who agreed with me. In these terrible times, this person is clearly taking their frustrations out on honest customers. I stand by what I said, it was originally a 3.5 star experience but now I won't be returning...ever. First and hopefully the last time I'll have to block a business owner from messaging me. We came here a couple times while visiting nags head for açaí bowls and ice cream. It isn't cheap but the quality is fairly good. The pricing for the amount of açaí is less value than what get in DC. My biggest complaint is that they messed up my order and made one bowl a large when it should have been a small and one bowl a small when it should have been a large. Mistakes happen but instead of making it right, they gave me quite a bit of hassle (even after we tipped 20% every time since it's a pandemic). They ended up remaking both the bowls because they wouldn't just give us the one slightly larger bowl and it took a total of 40 minutes to get our açaí bowls which I ended up overcharged for. I feel like a little good extra customer service could've gone a long way and they opted not to do that. Too bad because their bowls are really quite tasty. read more

Just returned from our OBX trip and it wouldn't have been complete without a visit (or two) to The Spot: the best place in town for an açaí bowl! This was about 15 mins from our rental so we called orders in and then just headed down to pick them up. Nothing has changed and it's just as amazing now as it was three years ago when I first had it. My go to is the loggerhead and it did not disappoint! I wish I had a picture to post; but my excitement (on two occasions) was too much and I never snapped a photo. -_- oops! They are open during COVID and had a window to order or pick up and tape markings to help customers maintain six feet social distancing. I tried another açaí bowl spot (walking distance from our rental in Kill Devil Hills) and to say it was not good is an under statement. I was so disappointed I decided I'd never try another açaí bowl in the OBX!! Well worth the drive if you're anywhere near the area!! They also do a great job at keeping the shop clean, which is not an easy task when you're dealing with sand and melted ice cream spills. Nice little place. Perfect for a vacation town. They have all the usual fair. It's Hershey ice cream, not home made or anything, but they have all sorts of sundaes and specials. This is on the web as a "juice" shop but they offer more than that. They serve smoothies, ice cream and açaí bowls, grab & go snacks and attire. What is an açaí bowl? That was my question to my niece and sister-in-law who told me how much they loved this place. I ordered "The Loggerhead" the base of this bowl was the açaí fruit and banana blended into a thick smoothie consistency with vanilla almond milk, the next layer was an extremely delicious granola, the last layer was a topping of banana, peanuts butter and shaved chocolate finished off with a drizzle of honey! The small size I ordered was very satisfying. I wish I was back in the Outer Banks to enjoy another one! One day I will return! I forgot to mention I was thrilled when I saw the container my bowl was in was made with 24% post consumer recycled fiber! I love companies that are eco conscious! read more

Came here with my family and friends on vacation. The taste of the açaí bowls were pretty good but service was unacceptable.The girls working there were generally really rude. Rolling eyes at customers etc. Worst part is they are clearly not following health code - by not wearing masks! While the front staff was, the ladies making the smoothie bowls are not!! This is SO unsanitary. I'd give some more stars for taste - but the experience was truly unsavory! EDIT: Just came again today (not a good choice) and had an even worse experience. The worker rolled her eyes at us after we were given spoons with ALMOND BUTTER already on them and asked for cleaner ones! This was the second time that they messed up our orders, too - they gave us granola when we specifically asked for none. read more

I like The Spot, I do, but tonight I stood in a very slow line leading outside the building for at least half an hour just to get the cashier to tell me they're not doing açaí. They weren't out of it or anything, just not doing it. At least put a notice up before I wait in line for your best selling and main item?! And why not serve açaí when it's on the big fat sign out front?! I'm sure others were as disappointed as I was after waiting in that line for açaí at an açaí place to just be told they aren't doing açaí. This is the best ice-cream around hands down! We have gone twice during our week at OBX. I would give the combined visits a 4 1/2 star and only knocking a half star off because of an employee working yesterday who clearly didn't want to be bothered with working. She was visibly rude to her coworkers and when she handed me my brownie sundae, she had an attitude about explaining that they were out of whipped cream. No big deal but when my husband was handed his brownie sundae a few minutes later by another employee it was topped with whipped cream. As were other customers orders who were served after me. Maybe this employee was having a rough day but the encounter was unpleasant. All of the other employees were friendly and helpful. The ice-cream is the best around! read more

ALTHOUGH, I always mention/recommend it to people planning vacations here... so I'm spreading the gospel old school, word-of-mouth style! Anyway, this is the go-to place to get your açaí/smoothie bowl fix. I stay a few miles away so I like biking over for brekkie - it's the best way to start a day to be spent under the sun. I ordered the Mermaid Bowl and my boyfriend got the Hippie Bowl. They are total YUM as-is, but I'm sure they'll accommodate any substitutes you're needing. As someone who comes to Nags Head constantly, I have always went to The Spot for Acai bowls and ice cream. I went on Sunday get ice cream. My sister has a life threatening egg allergy so when I asked if the ice cream had eggs in it, the staff was very rude. The blonde girl rolled her eyes and said "let me get the book" very rudely. After we went through the ice cream to figure out which flavors she could have the dude with the pink hair asked me if I had any more questions, comments or concerns in regards to the book. Then the two blondes and him made fun of the situation. I have never been so appalled by a staff's behavior before. I used to love The Spot but after this treatment, I will never go back. read more
