First time eating FULL ON Indian food! Little knowledge of spices and ingredients EXCEPT curry . But everything tasted perfect, saucy, spicy and delicious . Nothing negative at all!! I also spoke with someone who was friendly and obviously knowledgeable (I ordered delivery). My one suggestion? Highly recommend this restaurant. We've tried Indian and Nepalese cuisine from all over the U.S. and around the world, and we would rate this place very highly. We brought family members who had never tried this type of cuisine before, so we kept it simple and ordered the Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken, Cheese and Garlic Naan, Samosas, and Chicken Tandoori. Everything had excellent flavor, tasted fresh, and was clearly made with care. Only thing we would say is the Tikka Masala chicken was chicken breast so it wasn't as tender as the Butter Chicken which used chicken thighs. But it was still very good and flavorful. We gave this restaurant a few shots. They do their spices on a 1-5 scale. 1 is no spice at all and 3 should be medium but it was a bit on the spicier side. What really disappointed me about this place was the Naan, it was not traditional. If modern Indian food is what you like, then this is a great place for you. I recently ordered the Daal Makhani, and while it was decent, it fell short in terms of the richness that typically defines this dish. The flavors were there, but it lacked the depth and creaminess that make Daal Makhani so indulgent. I also ordered the Garlic Naan, which was unfortunately quite disappointing. The naan was mushy and lacked the distinct flavor that usually comes from fresh garlic and a good char. Since this was a to-go order, I initially considered whether the texture might have been affected by the travel time, but even then, naan should not be this soft and undercooked. It could be due to the naan not being cooked at a high enough temperature or perhaps too much moisture being retained during the cooking process. The restaurant itself is small and easy to miss, as it's not clearly marked. However, the interior appeared to be clean, which is always a plus. We have been the The Spices in Sheboygan. Took note they opened a restaurant in Manitowoc. This place shares its space with a gas station, which is not the most attractive ambiance. The entrance is unmarked and on the left side of the building. Inside is smallish place with nine or so tables. Kind of cramped and noisy chairs. But the young woman who waited on us was friendly and efficient. We started with vegetable samosas, very tasty. Then we got garlic naan and two dishes with paneer in spicy vegetable sauces. You can order spice levels from one to five. My wife choose two...found it mild. I picked four....made my left eye water. The naan and entrees were excellent and we enjoyed our food a lot. Although being very vegetarian friendly, there are many options for my carnivorous friends. Bottom line, the food is really good and actually good for you. Nice Manitowoc has an Indian restaurant. We wanted to give a shout out for their Momo Dumplings. They are excellent and the dipping sauce that comes with is delicious and has a little kick--so yummy! We also enjoyed the 3 Bean Curry, but we would order all of our dishes hot next time because the dishes we got mild were lacking flavor and the medium dishes were too mild as well. Of course, we like our Indian food spicy, so you may want to try different spice levels to see which level is right for you. The Mango Lassi was also spot on. We really appreciate that Manotowoc finally has an Indian/Nepali restaurant and look forward to trying more items. read more

My hubby and I tried the spices today for the first time. We went there late morning, We chose to share the butter chicken which comes with rice, and garlic naan. We shared, and still brought a small amount home. Ordered Spice level three and enjoyed it, although hubby ordered extra chili sauce for his. Overall yummy and would recommend. read more

Very tasteful food. One of a few restaurants into the area with vegan options. Dining area is very small so consider timing if dining in.
