Jays has always been our favorite India restaurant. We drive from Green Bay just for his food. Last week we got are usual favorites and were extremely disappointed. we don't know if Jays is run by someone else now, but the food looked and tasted different. Curries were bland and very greasy. The food and the service here has changed. In the past 3 months Jays has gone from top of my list to the middle. Im not sure what happened but my friend and I would pickup dinner from here at least once weekly for about a year and a half and it was always fragrant and the spice level customizable. Suddenly not long ago we stopped seeing familiar employees completely. It happens, but After a couple of visits noticing the flavor of the food was different we asked where the 2 men who worked the counter and kitchen before had gone. Apparently the replacement staff doesn't speak English, so no words, just stares. Bottom line the food now comes at one spice level (bland) no matter what you ask for, and the sauces for kormas is noticeably watered down, the biryanis have less meat, and the butter chicken is now bright red with less flavor. read more

Jay's offers delicious vegetarian and non-vegetarian Indian food as well as other cuisines. We had Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Kadai, rice and Garlic Cilantro Naan. All of which were excellent. read more

We had the Havertown Korma, 3 bean curry served with Jazera rice. As a bonus, I wanted a mango lassi which unfortunately was not on the menu. Our server made one especially for me! The food was of very good quality and I particularly enjoyed the korma. Prices are a bit steep. Adding lunch specials would benefit Jay's greatly. Only Indian restaurant in town and a welcome addition! Will definitely return. I urge you to give it a try. read more

What a gem! We discovered this little spot connected to a gas station on our way through town. It's not far from the interstate, and WORTH IT! If we lived closer, we'd be regulars. The veggie samosas were our favorite try, but our whole meal left us wishing we could work our way through their extensive menu. Service was friendly, and the food delicious. I absolutely love Indian food. We normally travel to Milwaukee or even Chicago to get good curries, but we were recently astonished to discover a local source for top shelf, made from scratch, authentic Indian cuisine right here in Sheboygan. My wife noticed Indian dishes listed on an ad in one of the local flyers delivered in the mail. I couldn't wrap my head around it. Indian fare at a gas station? The answer is an definitive yes. The restaurant and gas station are not connected (at least not for customers). We had all three Indian dishes on the menu, chicken tikka masala, chicken biryani and the buttered chicken, not to mention some fresh naan bread straight out of the oven. All three dishes were outstanding. The buttered chicken and biryani were the best I've ever tasted. Everything is clearly made from scratch. Even the curry powder is made from fresh toasted spiced then ground. The rice served on the side was also perfect. The presentation was nothing less then noble. We felt like royalty with the fancy traditional copper Indian serving bowls. My son is not very adventurous, so we ordered a 16" pizza with sausage and black olives him. It was huge and delicious! We also ordered some fried cheese curds since they are on the menu and hard to resist. The dishes can take a while to prepare since they are all fresh and from scratch, so be sure to call in your order ahead of your arrival, or simply order take out and pick it up. Kabita was the chef and our server for the evening. She was very gracious, patient with us, and made sure everything was to our liking, which it truly was. This is my casual Indian food go-to for lunch. There are only a few items on the menu but they are homemade, rich and flavorful. I recommend the naan to scoop up that amazing sauce. You have likely driven past this place attached to the gas station with no mention of Indian food on the building so consider it a hidden gem for yelp insiders. I was beginning to lose hope in the Sheboygan food scene. The same few restaurants over and over. Then. A miracle. Enter this establishment. I will never have to wonder where I am going for dinner again. Literally shoveling this food into my face. "This is the best Indian food I have had since I went to New York." Tonight was my first night, but I would eat here every night this week. The only other local in the store said this place "sustains me. I eat here at least once a week". Great food, several options even for vegetarians, and friendly people. The place was small, but had a nice atmosphere. I had the lamb tikka masala, and had it spicy, for the spice level. Perfect amount of spice. Also ordered couple of Naan bread, and they were also really good. The only problem is that they need to change the advertisement. It says that it's a pizza place, but there was no pizza that I saw, and to change the signs on the front to Indian food. Other then that, would definitely go again. read more

No need to drive an hour for Indian food! Jay's Foods is unpretentious, located adjacent to a gas station but don't let the location deter you. Admittedly a strange menu - subs, pizza and Indian food. The Indian food menu has only a few items but they are good! Chicken biryani is excellent, as is the palak paneer. Tikka masala is more homemade, perhaps oilier than it needs to be. Only thing is the limited menu while satisfactory, gets boring. Owner talked about expanding the menu, can't wait! read more

Today my husband picked up his order (our second time ordering from here) and when my husband gave his name the man working said "there are no Hispanic names here". I am not 100% sure what his intention was, but that sounds very inappropriate. He could of said "I don't see your name here" instead of mentioning race. Not an easy place to see from the street, and parking can be dicey. Nice sit down space inside. I was interested in trying some Indian Food, and what a pleasant suprise! The butter chicken was astoundingly good, with just the right amount of heat (per my request) :) The marsala chicken was equally delicious. The other poster said the menu was weird, (and it is) but it's GOOD weird. If the other items taste as good as the Indian stuff, the odd choices are fine with me :) Mario the manager provided exceptional service. I cant wait to try the rest of the offerings. read more

My 11 year old daughter is REALLY picky but said this is her new favorite restaurant! The naan is the best naan we've ever had. Our friends visiting from Chicago, whom have traveled all over the world, said this is the best naan they have ever had! The main guy who is there has excellent customer service and makes you feel important and always has a smile! The owner is also so friendly and really cares about having authentic high quality food and service! We eat here at least once a week and don't plan on stopping! read more
