I had a hard time finding an artist who was in my budget especially because I was just getting my hair and makeup done, none of my bridesmaids or family, and many artists have really high minimums. I'm thankful for Victoria because she could come to my hotel and get me ready and I looked absolutely amazing on my wedding day - my dream look was really achieved. She took my feedback and suggestions really well. She was always very sweet and kind. However, I had some problems leading up to the day that meant I can't leave a 5 star review... I had some communication problems because my emails would sometimes bounce back and my calls go to a phone no longer in service - one time I even had to reach out to her on Facebook to get in touch with her (after I had paid). I booked my trial with her and drove from where I live in DC down to Richmond (even staying in a hotel overnight) and she wasn't there. I was truly shocked. She was very apologetic and came up to meet me in my apartment in DC for my trial instead, but it left a pretty bad impression and made me very anxious for my wedding day. I'm really glad I did the trial because there were some things I wanted to fix for the wedding day (all of which she achieved, except for having the fake eyelashes be a bit too long so they butted up against my glasses, which I pointed out for the trial but was still a problem on the wedding day. I've had my makeup done for other weddings and the fake eyelashes weren't a problem then, so I know shorter ones exist...) Thankfully, she was better at communicating over text after that and showed up on time for my wedding day and everything worked out really well, so all's well that ends well, but there were some bumps in the road.

After emailing to check in I was informed the salon had changed ownership or something to that effect and I would have to re-send them my inquiry. I did this and the woman, Alexis, had me fill out a new brochure and I sent her screenshots of my previous request which showed what I wanted and the date I would need work done. Again, I don't hear back from anyone. After 4-5 days, I email asking for confirmation on booking and she tells me she's on vacation and will get back to me later. This morning she emails me to tell me my date is not available any longer. Thanks to you guys, I have wasted almost 2 months at this point trying to book with your salon when I could have been looking elsewhere. My wedding is in 3 months. I understand that in changes of ownership things can get lost in translation, but I would think you'd be more apologetic and willing to try and get clients scheduled after they were lost in the mix the first time around. Instead, I felt thrown to the way side and obviously like not much of a priority. Would not recommend.

I wanted lighter color to my brown hair, but was afraid it would ruin my curls as color has done to me in the past. He assured me a balayage would give soft highlights without changing my curls and would also be easy to maintain. That was true! He did a fantastic job and it looked so great!! So I came back for an update. I booked the first available appointment (which I guess was Betty). When I sat down and told her I booked a balayage, she asked me why? I told her it was what was recommended last time I came in. She talked me out of it saying that highlights were the same thing (they aren't!) and she said highlights were actually cheaper (which turned out to be false because I was charged the same amount as a balayage). I should have left and gone somewhere else. I went against my gut and got highlights and now my curls are stringy and dry. The color doesn't compliment my natural tones at all. I'm so sad. I also asked specifically for layers that would not look like a triangle on my head. Now I have two distinct layers that are triangles of ugly frizzy curls. Sorry Orlando, I will not be back. If you've got curly hair, I recommend you keep looking for somewhere else.
