Be prepared for unexpected hidden charges, such as additional charge for using a credit card. The person who performed the massage appeared to be the owner or the owner's wife. She used a co-worker's bad English as an excuse and gave me different service that I had asked for when I called. Minutes into the session, I was doubtful if she's a professional masseur. A cheap blanket instead of proper massage gown was provided to cover my body during the session. I felt some body lotion, rather than massage oil, was applied to my body during the session. I visited the place with a friend who had a better experience with another staffer who's more professional, to be fair.

The massage was average and the therapist was late for our appointment, so the massage began at 10:20 and we were done by 11. My massage was 40 minutes instead of an hour. The therapist did not close the door to the therapy room when she discussed my medical history with me. She smelled like cigarette smoke, so I had to hold my breath at times during the massage.

As a (former) Licensed Massage Therapist, I am very much aware of what to look for in a Massage…read moreTherapist. Even without trying, I am unintentionally analyzing everything from start to finish; this can be both a curse and a blessing. Unfortunately, it can also sometimes make me a harsh critic; in other words, my standards are quite high. I've lived in Virginia for 9 years. In those years, I can literally count just one therapist that I experienced that exceeded my expectations, prior to this massage. All others fell short...and I don't mean "just barely". I mean so bad, they made me question whether they actually received an education, or were simply hanging fraudulent certifications and licensures on their walls. Stress Free Therapeutic Massage (Miss Lydia) reminded me of how remarkable a skilled massage therapist can be. From start to finish, she was indeed incredible! My husband purchased me a 90 minute Groupon. After leaving a message on her voicemail, I received a text message, requesting that I visit the website to schedule. She was booked out somewhat ahead, which now makes perfect sense. As someone who's worked in the field, I understand the importance of being on time for your appointment; there is often paperwork involved for first time visits, and most therapists run a pretty tight schedule, not allowing much idle time between clients. Therefore, if you're late, it runs into the next clients appointment, leaving the therapist faced with cutting your time short, which is often a difficult decision, because they certainly don't want to lose you as a client either. Finding the facility was somewhat tricky for me; I had a small commute to the office, and I wasn't familiar with the area. For reference, this place sits in the back of a building that says "Chiropractor" on the front. If you're looking at Pancho Villa, it's right to the left of the restaurant. Parking is in a lot in the back of the building. Lydia's office is up the steps, to the second floor. Upon arrival (at just after 1pm for my 1:30pm appointment), one of her clients was just heading out. Just as expected, I had some short paperwork, and she got me in 10 minutes early, at 1:20pm. She started with me face down, which ironically is my preferred method. She started on my back, focusing on my noted trouble points (low back and neck). Her pressure remained steady and consistent throughout the massage, showing that she was a seasoned professional. She has great deal of physical stamina and excellent manual dexterity. I personally prefer a firm pressure, and she achieved the perfect level of pressure throughout. She ended the massage just on time, at 10 till 3pm. At no point did I feel like I wasn't receiving the upmost attention and care. Lydia remained professional and skilled, utilizing a variety of techniques. She possesses the ability to use different modalities/approaches to address her clients' needs. Her facility is clean, her demeanor is warm, welcoming and professional. I highly recommend her!

I can't say enough good things about this place. I have tried three other massage places in…read moreStafford including the big chain Massage Envy. This is the best massage I have gotten by far! The massages are consistently excellent. With a lot of places it is hit or miss. Okay I like a deep tissue massage and I want to masseuse to work on problem areas. At many places even when I ask them to work on specific problem areas they give me a basic rub down. At Foot Spa I don't even have to ask them to work on specific areas because somehow he finds out where those areas are and he works on them until they are better. I started there by getting a foot massage because I found a card at the car wash that said they had a real cheap foot massage and my feet needed some help. The foot massage was life-changing for me. I left there feeling lighter and taller. I'm not kidding. There are some drawbacks as well. Twice when I went there the place smelled of smoke like someone had been smoking a Turkish cigarette. But the last few times that has not been an issue. The couple that run it have a very limited grasp of the English language. But they are delightful people they do what they can to make sure they understand what you're asking for. They have a price chart on the wall and will point out what you've asked for to make sure they got it right. If you don't like a good for massage with deep tissue work this might not be the best place for you. I don't know because that's all I've ever gotten. They might go with a relaxation massage if you ask for it. And I should also mention that some of the massage gets into some areas that might make some people uncomfortable. For example, I had no idea how much tension I had in my buttocks. It was a little uncomfortable for me to have someone squeezing and rubbing and pushing on my buttocks but the fact is I felt much better afterwards. I'm sure if I'd ask him to not do that he would've not but I let him and it paid off. I try to go every two weeks. And the rates are really reasonable. Last night I got a 90 minute massage for $110. I think the foot massage might have been $40 for an hour or something like that but don't quote me on it. The place isn't a fancy day spa, they don't have some of the luxury of waiting area amenities that other places have. But the fact is I've never had to sit in the waiting room. They are a small business and they do good work and they're nice people. I would encourage you to at least try them I think they're the best in Stafford by far.
