In a word: ahhhhhhh! Located in one of Onondaga Street's beautiful old mansions. We got there just in time, so unable to explore the beautifully appointed rooms. I took my husband for a couples massage. My husband had Abigail and was extremely satisfied, as I was with Kerry, who -even though I'm not a fan of a lot of pressure - knows how to do it just right. The heating pads and essential oils add a lovely finishing touch. Bear in mind, during the couples massage, you are not in the same room, but in two rooms with an open door between. And you cannot book it using the online tool for some reason, but whoever answered the phone is extremely pleasant. Next time I plan on trying the stone massage. read more

Wonderful experience! The building itself is a lovely old brick mansion with a creaky wooden staircase and large treatment rooms. Eric is their newest massage therapist (but he has many years experience)... he was amazing! Excellent deep-tissue work. And he let me zone out so he could concentrate his skills. This is the place to go if you're looking for a great spa experience and massage in Syracuse. There are plenty of places in town where you can drop in to get a massage, but we were looking for more of a full spa experience for our Anniversary without a long drive or huge price ticket. We loved the beautiful building filled with beautiful art (by one of my favorite local artists, Ellen Haffar) and relaxing music. Ed and his team are welcoming and professional to the utmost. Great experience! This was one of my Xmas presents after a long semester. As soon as I walked in I was taken care of. I had a one hour Swedish massage by Abigail, and she was awesome. The music in my room was a bit loud, but I realized that it's because of the commotion outside (sirens, etc). She was great with communication and making sure my experience was exactly how I wanted it. I felt so ready for the day afterwards ! It's also nice being a bit younger (college student) and taken seriously/professionally. I've had a massage in the past at another place in which my masseuse was a bit impolite. The staff was very friendly and the building is very beautiful. It was a different experience from other spas I have been. The room lighting was to bright, and the couples massage we purchased were in separate rooms. The ambulance service is right behind the spa, I could hear the sirens going off as they were leaving . Every time I visit my family in syracuse I am sure to book an appointment at spa 500. The prices are stellar (especially considering I live in nyc... where a similar service in an upscale setting could start at $200 an hour).... I leave floating on a cloud of relaxation. All the massage therapists are knowledgeable about my extensive list of injuries (ripped rotator cuff, bursitis in my shoulder and ankles, former fracture at L4, plantar fasciitis in both feet, bum knees....tennis elbow.. all thanks to 30 years of ballet, gymnastics, swimming, running, bartending for 14 years, pain pain pain is constant in my life...so the beautiful relief the therapists provide is extremely welcome for my battered and exhausted body. My father james raves about spa 500 as well he goes quite often. I once was gifted a couples session for my fiancee and I - and we still talk about how wonderful it was. Hot tub, sauna, massage.. even by nyc standards this place gets my 5 stars. A hidden gem in an historic jewel of a building. Margaret seems to be my therapist most often and she really works my ripped shoulder and perma knots so well that id suggest her in a heartbeat- but everyone there really listens to what your ailments are and what your body needs. We had a superb 60 minute couples massage here. Every interaction I had with the staff, from questions by email to the welcome we received in person, was warm and professional. The space itself is relaxing and beautifully decorated inside what looks like a former mansion. The massage therapists did a great job attending to our specific needs and making sure we were comfortable and relaxed. This was my first massage experience in the US. I opted for the popular Swedish massage. Ed is a great masseur and the location was great. It is a huge ancient palatial home. Massage lasted about an hour and I felt extremely relaxed and fresh after. The only minor complaint - we signed up for a couples massage but the other individual couldn't make it since she was sick, so can't really blame her. read more

This is a relaxation oasis heaven. Every therapist is awesome and it's an old funeral home that has an incredibly relaxing aura about it. Beautifully renovated old Victorian charm. Staff is knowledgable, kind and very accommodating. Don't skip the jacuzzi, it is worth every moment. Sauna is also very comforting. I go about four times a year and it's not enough. I was very disappointed with this spa unfortunately. Both my boyfriend and I booked hour long massages together. We used the sauna and hot tub before which was lovely, however when it came down to the actual massage I was never asked about a preference of masseuse ( I would have much preferred a female). I instead was assigned to an older man (I believe he was the owner, or manager anyway). I told him exactly where my sore spots were and were I would like him to focus, and he did the opposite. His demeanor made it difficult for me to relax at all. No soreness was worked out, he used almost no pressure, and his technique was just poor overall. I would certainly not go back. My boyfriend however, ended up with a female masseuse and he had only positive things to say about her. So I guess if you choose to go here ask for a female ( I did not catch her name). I also had hair & nails included in the 'package' I was given. After waiting for almost 45 minutes after my 'massage' was complete I was finally able to enter the salon. No one at the spa could tell me exactly what 'hair & nail treatment' meant so I asked for a trim and mani/pedi. The stylist cut only the very edge of my longest hair (so maybe 1/8 of my total hair), then decided she was done and used a flat iron to straighten it, and nothing else (took her a total of 10 minutes at most). and my 'mani/pedi' looked like a 5 year old could have done a better job. I was really just disappointed with the whole experience, and will absolutely never recommend this place to anyone. read more
