The owner/operator, "Rick," seemed very knowledgeable so I asked him to do a set-up on my Anderson "Crowdster II." Sweet! So then I shuffled off my 20-year-old ES-335 to him that needed the action adjusted and pickups balanced. Sounds sweet and balanced now and plays like a dream. Finally, I had a slight intonation problem on my Martin 000-28 so I asked Rick if JFL would fix that which he did with a little bridge work and a neck adjustment. The intonation is near perfect now and the action plays great. As far as I could tell, I don't think JFL has the capabilities to do things like a neck reset but if you need a quick turnaround on a set-up, a fret job, etc, and don't want to mess it up, give JFL a call!! Detailed, conscientious work at super reasonable rates! Thanks, Rick!

I had considered sending my flute through the mail to Spencer, who had worked on it in the past, but I wasn't sure I wanted to pay the extra $200 for shipping and insurance. Eli, who answered my questions over the phone, was kind and helpful and told me that the Instrumental Music Center performs free assessments. So, I drove the 50 minutes to meet Amber, another kind and helpful employee, and James Gunn, the flute technician. James listened to my concerns and went above and beyond explaining pads, oiling, adjusting, time frame, cost, etc. to me. I am grateful I met James and now feel safe having him work on my flute, as not only is he skilled but also sensitive to my feelings. I was emotional as I left, filled with gratitude.

It is a BEAUTIFUL PLACE that caters to all things music, instruments, tools amps, just a breath taking array of musical instruments to create magic. Almost inspired me to hang on to aforementioned mandolin. But I sold it to them so that it would end up in the proper set of hands. While there I chatted with the owner and his assistants who were friendly, extremely knowledgeable and clearly in tune with musicians. They will find it a good home. When I decided to return it, he spent a lot of time with me choosing another guitar, walking me through each step. I then had their guitar tech (Gunner) set it up for me. He did a great job. I'm am more than pleased with Guitar Center and will certainly return their for future purchases. I am a semi-retired professional with 36 years of performance history.

This was our first experience with the shop since the new owners took over. After waiting nearly a month for the work to be completed, I was honestly a bit disappointed with the result. The strings were replaced, but the guitar itself didn't appear to have been cleaned before the new strings were installed. It was still fairly dusty, which made it seem like very little had been done beyond the restringing. Between the long wait time, the cost of the service (which felt high for the work performed), and what appeared to be unfinished or incomplete work, I left feeling underwhelmed. That said, the woman who helped us when we dropped the guitar off was excellent. She was very kind, professional, and took the time to answer all of my questions. She also explained the work that would be done, which may be why I expected a bit more attention to detail when we picked it up. Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience, but based on the wait time, pricing, and results, I'm not sure whether I would return in the future.

I figured I would take it to a local business to have it it re-strung and looked over. I waited all week to go at a time outside of my work hours because their hours are very limited. I walked in holding the guitar and the first thing that was said to me when I walked in was "we're not doing anymore repairs today". The gentleman then asked me what was wrong with it and I explained that I didn't know what and wanted it looked at. He offered to write up a value on it to let me know how much it could be worth, and I explained to him that my intention was to play this guitar and that would really only be helpful to know to compare to the cost of repair. He did show me a few guitars they had in house at what seemed like a decent price. But instructed me to come back when the repairman was in, which could be anytime because even though he had hours, he is a gig worker and sometimes has to leave. It largely felt like he was more interested in selling me something versus addressing the concerns I currently had. Can't blame him in this economy, I suppose. He was kind and it is a cool shop, just didn't seem like it was what I needed based on my situation. This place has a very small town, small store feel - if you're looking for a wide variety of instruments and/or consistent hours, this might not be the right choice for you either.
