Tres amigos plate with creamed corn and pit beans

First time trying any North Carolina bbq, and this was on my route. The meat was good, brisket was fork tender, pulled pork was my favorite, the ribs were also good. I liked their sweet bbq sauce the best. The jalapeno creamed corn was awesome, the pit beans were fine but I would have liked some spiciness in there. Service was outstanding. I ate at the bar and Alora was perfect! Thank you! It's a pretty casual restaurant and comfortable.

I took my visiting family members to Smoke Pit on Saturday. Everyone liked the food they ordered. I thoroughly enjoyed the BBQ Ribs with a sweet bbq sauce and delicious moist, sweet and buttery cornbread. Our server was attentive and kind. I also took my visiting nephew to Smoke Pit. He is retired from the US Air Force, a world traveler and foodie. Let's just say there wasn't a lot of talking going on at our table because we were all hungry and devouring the delicious food.

Solid 5 folks only tried 4 others here in this area. Flavor portions tenderness and affordability is what i judged on. Ive been to some nation top places. Kansas city bbq in kansas , Brier pit in Huntsville Alabama, and Hard 8 in the dallas texas area. All class acts in pit bbq. Have to say this place earned honorable mention in this group. Prices in any great pit bbq isnt cheap but here its reasonable with good portions. The inside is spacious and very comfortable, service was fast and friendly no issues with the service. Give them a try do your taste buds a favor

Large Burnt Ends Plate* with Cornbread, cheesy potatoes & green beans

In the mood for some bbq so went to check out The Smoke Pit. I liked that they had a separate entry on the side for take out orders. Ordered a large burnt ends place for take out. I saw what I thought were large orders going out.... The wait wasn't long. When my name was called...they handed me this large aluminum pan that weighed a ton! Y'all...this was an aluminum lasagna pan!!!...& for a Single order!!! When I got back & opened up the pan, I think (to me at least) that there was enough food to feed 3 people! Burnt ends were delish...perfectly seasoned, smoky & sweet with just enough fat to make it tasty. The cheesy potatoes were delish as were the green beans...both perfectly seasoned. I'm not a fan of cornbread but this was delicious too! Highly recommend stopping in if you're in the area!

This was my first visit to the Smoke Pit. We came in for lunch today just after 3pm had a a fantastic experience. Everyone was super friendly especially Maddison who was an absolutely amazing server!! The food came out really fast and the portions were huge! I had a Texas Twinkie for an appetizer and then the brisket and burnt ends along with 3 sides plus cornbread. Everything was delicious, especially the burnt ends. Highly recommended; you will not be disappointed and definitely ask for Maddison (she doesn't mind if you call her Maddie ) A+++

Stopped here for dinner to break up a road trip. Seated immediately and waitress brought us water with lemon (which I always appreciate). Big menu. I chose the large pork platter which it said came with two sides and cornbread or hush puppies. Much to our surprise it was "free side Wednesday " so we got a third side! I chose French fries, collards, and baked beans. Husband ordered the two meat plate with pork and turkey. Portions sizes were out of this world. Just the turkey on husband's platter would have made two big turkey sandwiches. I tasted it and it was perfect -- smoky and moist. My hunk of pork was massive. Now I have had barbecue that did not need any sauce before. This was not that barbecue but one of the reasons it did need sauce was because it was so lean which I do appreciate. My favorite sauce was the Lexington. Fries were average steak fries -- I just ordered them because I was in a French fry mood. Collards were average, baked beans were solid. Nothing was the best I had ever had but it was all good and nicely presented. I'm a big eater but even I could not finish it. I think I'll have enough for a whole other dinner tomorrow. Waitress was attentive and sweet. Only thing that could have been better was cleanliness of floors and bathroom.

Some of the best barbecue I've had since leaving Texas. I had the burnt ends which were awesome. Wife had barbecue platter with brisket ribs and sausage. It was delicious also. The portions were huge we both had leftovers to bring home. We will be back again!

This place was amazing!!! Smoked turkey and brisket the best. All the sides were delicious but the BEST of all was the cornbread and staff.

The managers act like teenagers in high school. The restaurant has roaches and rats. Please do not eat their food for your own safety.

Webb Custom Kitchen - Gastonia 10:45am Mothers Day…read more My son asked me where I wanted to go for Mother's Day. I had been to Webb a few times. I thought he would enjoy the theme, environment/vibe so that was my suggestion! Of course they didn't let us down lol! He was looking up the movie that was playing on the screen with Barbara Stanwick and a young Kirk Douglas. We loved the music they had playing as well so many memories wow what a throwback! We were seated upstairs and had a wonderful view of the screen, not to mention the activities in the kitchen down below. Really it's the best seat if you call for reservations! We ordered off of the brunch menu for main dishes, I told him he absolutely had to try a couple of the appetizers! We had fried green tomatoes, and the angry lobster to start. Both were absolutely wonderful and exactly what I expected so definitely consistent. We ordered two Benedict dishes. I got the crabcake Benedict and he got the eggs with ham. Everything was very good, but when it comes to crabcakes, I can't lie. Nothing compares to 131 main so the size of the Crabcakes - I was a bit disappointed. Don't get me wrong. They were fresh, but too thin and the flavor and texture were not to my personal preference. The crab kind of got lost in all the other ingredients. I would definitely try a different dish next time. I ordered a side of bacon, perfectly cooked and great flavor. Along with the side of their mac & cheese, which has always been a favorite. I love the combination of cheeses that they use. It's such a treat! Lastly, we had to have their Parmesan truffle fries. Again consistent, excellent! They are always busy so reservations are required versus recommended to be honest. But we parked for free across the street because we were there early. Sadly, neither one of us had room for dessert, but their desserts are so good and the helpings are huge. Maybe next time!

Shane's Rib Shack - The Grace of the Familiar…read more In an era of fast food, there is a profound comfort in finding a sanctuary of consistency. One does not always need the avant-garde; sometimes, one simply requires the reliable. At Shane's Rib Shack, the reliability is the art form--provided you have the strength to enter and the patience to stay. I must begin with a word of caution: the entrance requires more than a simple appetite; it requires a bit of muscle. The front door is unexpectedly heavy, a physical barrier that many customers seem to struggle against just to cross the threshold. Once inside, the reward is consistent, however, it comes at a premium of time. If you seek a burger, you'll be told there is at least a fifteen-minute wait. I opted for the Cheeseburger Combo with Fried Okra. The burger itself is a sturdy piece of work: the bun is the standout, buttered and toasted with a slight, deliberate crisp along the edges that provides the necessary structural integrity for the fresh vegetables within. The okra, a humble Southern staple, was respectable, but it could have been crispier to match the wait. To wash it down, the Sweet Tea remains a liquid gold standard. There is a quiet dignity in an organized lobby. Ketchup, mustard, mayo, and the house barbecue sauce are all stationed like reliable soldiers, ready for duty. It is an efficiency that respects the diner's time without sacrificing the experience. However, the true excellence of this establishment lies in its people. On this visit, I observed the staff navigating the treacherous waters of the "entitled guest"--those needy patrons who view service as a servant-class interaction. The workers here handle such turbulence with a grace and stoicism that is frankly remarkable. To maintain manners in the face of the ill-mannered is the highest form of professional poise. The Verdict: Shane's Rib Shack does not pretend to be what it is not. It is a masterclass in the fundamentals: good food, a thoughtful environment, and a staff that possesses a level of character far exceeding the price point. While I cannot give it a 5-star rating (partially due to that formidable front door), I think a 4/5 accurately portrays it--a sanctuary of consistency in a world of variables. It remains a staple for a reason.

I placed an online order with a scheduled pickup time, but ended up waiting over 20 minutes past…read morethe scheduled time. When I finally asked about my order and how much longer? told it had it happened to be sitting behind the counter ready the entire time, which was frustrating. The food quality was disappointing as well. The smoked wings were only room temperature and Sauce all over them when I asked for it on the side. The hot items were packed in the same bag as a two salads, leaving the lettuce wilted and warm Unfortunately, I didn't have time to wait for a fresh remake since I was already running late. Overall, this was a frustrating experience, and I would not recommend ordering online for scheduled pickup.
