Spicy Shrimp Scampi Crispy Calamari
Kevin Q.

Went out for a nice solo dinner and this place did not disappoint. My server was Lili and she was very attentive and super sweet. I had ordered the spicy shrimp scampi, crispy calamari and some oysters and it was all delicious. Shrimp scampi was great balance of spice and acid and was topped with toasted bread crumbs. Calamari was great, and you can't go wrong with the oysters. I also had the Oaxacan sunshine cocktail, and ended it with the strawberry pie and chai. I had came here to celebrate big accomplishments and staff made me feel great. I will definitely be coming back !

I went twice for brunch. The first time was great I had the passion mojito, oysters, pancakes and the special which was a fish sandwich. The food was fresh, hot and flavorful. I enjoyed all the things I ordered the service was wonderful. My water was constantly refilled, ai was checked on and when things were finished they were removed. The 2nd visit wasnt so great I got the calamari and French toast which I didn't enjoy as much and the service was really lacking this visit. The woman taking my order took forever to come around to me,took forever to get water I got my calamari before my drink and I finished my water without a refill. It was like night and day difference between the two visits. My first server was Thomas I definitely recommend asking for him if you can. I would of gave 5 stars if it wasnt for the second visit but the first definitely 5.

The Smith is always consistent when it comes to food and service. We were lucky enough to get a spot st the bar the other night. However, if you are a large party best to make reservations. The Smith Burger is the way to go if you are having a hankering for some protein.

Came for a pre-show cocktail and I wasn't disappointed. I loved the vibe even if it was loud. I loved the decor even though it was predictable. I loved the staff even though they forgot my friend's order. And I loved my food even though it was hella pricey. Would I go back? In a heartbeat!

The food was delicious and flavorful. I wish the scampi didn't have so much oil on the bottom of the plate but overall it was really good. They gave us complimentary bread that was cold as hell but it did its job as we waited for the oysters, which were really fresh. Surprisingly when we went on a Friday it was kind of empty but the restaurant itself is spacious, good music & good service.

Saturday brunch, steak and eggs, eggs benedict -- a reliable American brunch spot! The calamari we ordered was so good, I loved the fried olives and zucchini added to it, wasn't sure if I would like it with the feta but it was good! We ordered the NY strip steak and eggs and the steak was cooked perfectly, I didn't have it with the hollandaise though. The eggs benedict was also good, I wasn't a huge fan of ham but the poached eggs were lovely. A nice, casual spot to catch up with friends, no-frills, just reliable food and good vibes :) There is also a photo booth downstairs which was a lot of fun, you get two prints of three photos each for $5!

My go-to order at any The Smith location is the jalapeño cheddar grits. Listed under the "Vegetables" section of the menu, they were exceptional--creamy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The jalapeño added just the right kick without overpowering the dish. Needless to say, I polished off the entire bowl. I can't believe I ate the whole (fattening but delicious) thing! At $9, it's a little pricey, but that's expected in the East Village. My bartender/server, Ezra, was excellent--he immediately brought me two large carafes of free water, one filtered and one sparkling, which was a thoughtful touch. It was refreshing to see a unisex restroom, and it was replete with toilets. The toilet that I used was clean, but the garbage bin was overflowing with paper towels-- minor issue, but worth mentioning. Overall, I highly recommend this location for both the food and the service.

Bar food but make it good. Lots of tables and they fill up around peak times and happy hours. They have different deals for different days of the week (Sunday is $28ish for a cheeseburger and a beer.) What a deal! Good service. Lots of mood lighting. Cool art and it's a great location. Appetizers are fine. Salad waas good. They gave me more chicken than I expected.

Came back and really enjoyed the crispy chicken with the ricotta gnocchi. My favorite cocktail is the spiced pear margarita!

1st time customer The Smith by Union Square is a nice place to hangout or have a date. I came here for drinks only. The waiters are nice. There's a single restroom upstairs and a few more downstairs.

I had my birthday brunch here with a group of 14. The space was large enough to fit all of us comfortable. Food was delicious and came out relatively fast! The staff did their best to accommodate the crowd. Overall a pleasant experience with good atmosphere!

We stopped in quickly before catching a movie nearby, and absolutely loved it. I have been recommended the restaurant before, and was very excited to try it. The setting was intimate and inviting, and the staff was incredibly friendly. Since we needed to be quick, we shared the side of brussels sprouts and the short rib. Both were absolutely wonderful. We are looking forward to coming back for an extended date night to try more of the menu!

Thinking of a birthday meal 2/21/2026. What time is best since it is a saturday to avoid the brunch and dinner crowd?

What is the minimum guests for the downstairs room?

Do they have non alc beer & wine options and/or non alc cocktails that aren't too sweet as I'm looking to moderate esp as we head towards Dry January?

Hi there — thanks for reaching out. We do have non-alcoholic beer on the menu, as well as non-alcoholic drink options. Let us know if any other questions, thanks and we look forward to seeing you soon.…

I visited in 2019 and had the caramel sauce pancakes, are these still on the menu and are they served during the week?

Hi! Thanks for reaching out. Pancakes are currently on the menu on Saturdays and Sundays for brunch, and are served with blueberries, lemon crème fraîche, and toasted almonds. The salted caramel pancakes will most likely make a return to the menu in…

Do you do a bottomless brunch for beverages?

Hi there! We don't offer bottomless brunch but if you have any other questions feel free to direct message us :)

What time/days do they serve the brunch menu?

Hi Ash, Brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday from 9 am–4 pm. Let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks!

If i have a party of 14 would they put me downstairs?

I had a group of 11 or 12 on a Friday and it was crowded but they still sat us upstairs so I think a group of 14 would probably be accommodated upstairs. The downstairs part was completely empty so maybe they just use it for private events?
