Popped in here on my way back to New York. Noticed this place after passing through duty free; it was early and we were looking for somewhere to eat before we boarded our long flight back home. They have plenty of seating and pints on tap. We picked our table and seat, which had a number engraved into it. I went up to the bar, ordered and paid for our food. When you place your order you give your table number and they bring it to you. The service was a little slow and seemed like there were only two people to bring out the food. I ordered an Irish Breakfast and a vegetarian breakfast. Both breakfasts were fine and filled our tummies but it wasn't like OMG this is the most amazing breakfast ever. Just remember this is an airport bar/restaurant so don't expect five star food and service.

For airport food, This is he best I've had. I had the ultimate Irish Fry and it was good! Everything was fried well! The eggs weren't too runny, they were done just right! The restaurant was sooo quiet and relaxing (I'm here around 7am). The waitresses and bartender are very helpful and nice!

The meat on the nachos was cold but tasty and they left off the salsa. Service isn't awesome at all. You have to order and pay at the bar and someone brings your food out. I mean it's airport food. So I wasn't expecting 5 star food. It's ok for killing time and waiting for a flight. I'd rather have someone come to my table to take my order and refill drinks but that's not how this place works.

    Worst breakfast ever!!!!

Oh my! This is by far the worst breakfast I ever had! The eggs taste like they powdered and meats were lukewarm and cooked yesterday! I can't even finish it!

On doing a straw poll with Irish friends and acquaintances at home and abroad I noted my theory about what we are like to each other on foreign ground or in airports holds some merit due to several folks experiencing the same issues as I shall outline now. We make ourselves out to be such a friendly welcoming race of people yet we seem to avoid each other when abroad or be rude especially in the service industry. I don't know why, I think it's a competitive thing or I'm sure there is something deeper to it, forgetting our past - who knows. The second place we are hostile to each other is like now, in the airport. At this spot it reminds me like what it's like abroad as in the service staff are all, "Bejaysus ain't it great that I'm Irish - how are yah? Where yah from? Ah sure we love the craic!" If you have a foreign accent. If you are Irish you are treated with mild contempt. Again I personally don't have a bee in my bonnet about this and it's been said to me so many times in various settings by friends and acquaintances a like, so I find it interesting. Yet like most things in Ireland we don't talk about things outside the "home", cause "sure what would people think?" Frankly as Rhett says I don't give a damn. Food is OK as airport food goes. Lovely big windows. Tepid inoffensive music on the air waves. And like I outlined above Irish service staff hating on the Irish, we are a mystery race that is for sure.

I always approach airport restaurants with a combination of dread and low expectations. Such was my first visit to the Slaney. Lunchtime on Wednesday and the airport was quiet. Deal here is you select your food, pay at the bar and meal delivered to table. I ordered a burger with all the trimmings with chips and a beer. Barely 5 minutes later a very good repast was delivered. It was what it was and good for that. No complaints apart from the price but it's an airport so whatchagonnado? The beer helped. The barman said Ballsbridge prices but with a better view. Couldn't agree more.

If you're looking for a quick bite to eat while you have a stopover in Dublin, The Slaney is the best pick. I had a few hours to kill while waiting to board my flight to Paris and had a nice little brunch in the mean time. I ordered the eggs florentine, which was surprisingly quite good! Much better than I had originally expected (we're talking airports here, people!). Also, the best part about The Slaney is that there are several circular seating areas that have loads of outlets for you to charge your phone, laptop, electronics and so forth in. Airports are the worst for finding places to plug in your electronics and The Slaney makes it quick, simple and easy! Try 'em!

Stopped here for lunch during a layover. I ordered a chicken burger and my husband ordered a burger (no mayo) and onion rings (38 Euros). After waiting 40 minutes, we asked someone at the bar if our food was coming soon. Someone went to the back and brought our food out. The burger had mayo on it, onion rings were cold, and my chicken burger (in the photo) was missing most of the chicken. Do yourself a favor and stay away!

Delicious airport food! I was sitting on the second level (The Slaney is on the first) and tried to get food from the sad little marketplace. They refused to serve me and said they were closed for the day. So I ventured down to The Slaney and ordered take away. I ordered the Cajun Chicken Sandwich on their famous blaa bread. I picked it up within ten minutes and took it back up to the second floor where I had been sitting. It was absolutely delicious! I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was! It was filled with flavor from the seasoning and cheese. The blaa bread was fantastically doughy and tasty. I loved the chips served with it as well. It was an amazing meal... at the airport!

My friend ate a side of onion rings. The roast beef was cooked to perfection, very tender and juicy. It is pretty unsalted, which I like, but my friend said it wasn't enough. The side of rich, brown gravy made up for it adding the right amount of saltiness to the beef. Carrots and peas were a tad soft, but flavorful and good mashed potatoes. I wasn't wild about the whole fried ones. The Yorkshire pudding was pretty dreadful and seemed to be backed hours prior because it was rubbery and chewy. The chicken curry was good, a little sweet, but good amount of curry flavor. Chips and rice were great. The onion rings were good. Not stellar, not bad. Just solidly good! Guinea's was perfect in terms of being served at the right temp and they have half pints, which made me happy! This place was very, very loud. It was distractingly loud, but if you want sports and good beer, you are in the right spot. Lots of families with little ones for dinner. Service was good.

Tucked down Dame Court just off Dame Street, The Stag's Head is one of those rare pubs that feels genuinely historic rather than designed to look old. The building dates to the late 1800s, and the interior retains the ornate features of a classic Victorian "gin palace"--rich carved wood, stained glass, brass rails, and a warm, glowing bar that feels wonderfully preserved. We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. Between the history, the ambience, the quality of the food, and the wonderful staff, The Stag's Head is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've experienced a real piece of Dublin.
