My family has been wine tasting here for YEARS. I'm talking 10+ years. Every time I come back to the area, it's a must. Literally the most underrated winery in Livermore (in my opinion). It's pretty small, but that makes for a very intimate and special tasting. I've never had a bad experience here. Their sparkling wines are the best I've ever had, they have so many great flavors, and my parents often ship cases for special occasions. It's that good. They also have a fun chocolate experience with their port wine. All of this PLUS you often get to taste with the owners AND listen to live music. The best experience every time. We stopped by Singing Winemaker on Sunday based on Yelp listing the opening time as 1:00 PM. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the place was completely locked up and no one was there. No signage, no note on the door--nothing to indicate a change in hours. The night before, we had their sparkling wine during our Valentine's Day dinner tour and really enjoyed it. It was good enough that we made a point to swing back through on our way out of town to purchase a full case. That plan clearly didn't work out. If you're going to rely on visitors passing through, your posted hours need to be accurate. We were ready to buy. That opportunity was missed. read more

We dropped in Saturday around 1:15pm for our reservation. It was busy at all. Friendly female staff who poured for us. Knowledgeable when we asked her questions. Tasting was fee $15. We got to try all the sweet sparkling wines and a few of the white or reds. The peach smelled really good. Syrah sparkling is not sweet. The red/white wines were a bit bland and the sparkling wines too sweet for us. Not really to our taste, but easy to drink. We also got to try the panty dropper (almond sparkling and chocolate). I love sparkling wines but I like brut or dry. The Tesla Vintners and another winery used to be sister wineries to this winery. But they all closed down. She also told us that the owners are selling the house/property so they don't know if the new owners will keep the winery open. They have outdoor seatings and restroom is outside. read more

Fantastic place through and through. I hosted a rather unconventional event here, and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate my foolishness. They reserved an area for us and had the owner serenade us with themed music (trust me the theme was hard to find songs for, but he certainly did). Service thoughtout was amazing, and one of the staff sent me such a heartfelt message checking in on me and wishing me luck after everything was said and done. Amazing experience all around. The last stop on a day of wine tasting in Livermore ended with a tasting at The Singing Winemaker. The winemaker himself was MIA and I hope to catch him soon but the wines did not disappoint. The tasting included a taste of all their sparkling and 3 ports or wines and I picked the first. They make exceptional sparkling wines, especially the almond and strawberry. They were out of the strawberry that day:( The downside to the tastings was the size of the pours, barely a sip. The Brut was the shining star that day as well as the chocolate port. They have little bites and cute merchandise to sell as well. There is plenty of parking and there is space inside as well as picnic tables outside. The pourer was attentive but did not offer an extra sip like most other wineries, this in addition to the time pours was what made this a 4 star. I bought the Brut as well as the chocolate port. WINES: (5/5) Bubbles are my jam. If you like sparkling wines, this is the place for you. They also offer whites, reds, and ports. Sparkling wines are tricky for me to find at local wineries and if they have it, it's just 1 kind, and most of the time it's not part of the tasting b/c they only have so many bottles and won't give a tasting when you ask unless you're a club member. (yes that's happened to me). But here, OMG, they offer 4 kinds of sparkling: brut, raspberry, peach, and almond. The tasting included 4 wines of your choice. For sparklings, you could try a splash of each sparkling to equal 1 tasting. GENIUS! I did that :) and still had an additional 3 tastings. They also offer a few in-house special blends which I absolutely loved and could count as a tasting. I tried the Panty Dropper = almond sparkling + chocolate port. The wines were wonderful and we took a bottle home. AMBIANCE: (2/5) It's an intimate winery with a few outdoor tables that looked nice. It was scorching hot this day and no one was outside. I imagine when the weather is nice it's a good place to sit. Inside the tasting room, it was cool but it felt really stuffy, like it hadn't been aired out in a while, and smelled really off like wet dogs had been in there for a while and left a musty scent behind. I can't say for sure what it was, but the smell was not pleasant in an enclosed space when you're wine tasting. My preferred method of wine tasting is to be seated, brought all of my tastings at once, and then take my time with each one. Or, be seated and brought my first pouring, have the pourer tell me about the wine I'm tasting, leave us alone for a bit so we can enjoy and savor, and then the pourer returns w/the next one. This is my preferred style b/c it's relaxing. Here it was neither of those and we stood at the bar counter. We were the only customers inside and were poured a wine and the pourer was there with us kinda just waiting. It was like it was a private tasting but not really. There was some conversation sprinkled in here and there but I felt like they were just waiting for us to be done to pour us the next one. They did not rush us at all, but it felt a bit tense for me w/them standing there just waiting for us. I'm an incredibly slow drinker for anything, like I will take my time and enjoy. For example, I will still be drinking my morning iced coffee well into the afternoon. So here I felt like I had to hurry and was the fastest wine tasting I've ever done. They gave us a recommendation for a sparkling winery in Lodi so that was appreciated! We will be checking that out b/c I love bubbles. I would like to see them offer one of those methods as it would create a relaxing and chill ambiance. read more

I love bubbles so I'm glad that we've found this hidden gem. The sparkling peach and the new carbonated Syrah are my favorites. The almond one smells pretty nice but is a bit too sweet for me. You can pretty much skip their whites or reds though. Bubbles are really what they are good at and you can't find similar tastes anywhere else. My friend lives in livermore and recommended that we come here for our first choice in wine tasting. I had mixed feelings when I first saw the place because it's just not as up to date but don't judge a book by its cover! My friends and I opted for the $15 tasting which was a great deal. We chose to do the sparkling wine tasting which included a California brut, peach, raspberry and almond. My favorite was the Peach! We also ordered a karen's chocolate kiss for $2 which is a shot of wine in a chocolate cup. The chocolate was delicious but the dessert wine we tried was a bit strong for me but the chocolate did add a nice touch. The service here is very friendly. This place is fun. Always one of my favorite stops. They are known for their sweet sparkling wines, especially the almond and raspberry. I love, love, love when the wine maker comes out and sings with his guitar. It seems like he is always there. They have some cute names for their chocolate port and wine mixes.. things like "the pant dropper". Plus, for like $25 you can taste at all 4 wineries located at Tesla Vintners (Lone Dove, Paulsen, Ehrenberg being the others). My husband and I were driving by and noticed they were doing wine tastings in a space that had four wineries. We opted to pay for tasting at two locations, the first with traditional wines and the second one here. I believe it was $16 for each of us to do 4 tastings at the traditional place and then what ended up being quite a bit more tastes at the Singing Winemaker. After seeing the mixed reviews, I figured since we were tasting next door, we would stop in and check this place out. I must say when you are wine tasting, the person doing the pouring makes or breaks the entire experience regardless of the wine. In this case Al Corce was our host and a great one at that. Having great conversation and making a new acquaintance is always a great thing especially if you live in the area. Always nice to make friends at the winery! Al gave us a great tasting experience. He knew about all the wines and even did some sparkling and port blends which made for a refreshing difference in the tasting experience. They have some interesting infused sparkling wines like peach (delicious), raspberry, and almond. Blending the almond and brut together was an interesting experience, so if you can get some mixed pouring, I'd say go for it! We hit the ports in the chocolate cups (you can get for $1.00 each) and I suggest anyone who loves port get the cups of dark chocolate to pour your port in. Enjoy the combination as it melts and swirls around your palate. We had some good laughs, shared some pairing suggestions with the various wines (such as Angel Food Cake or Lemon Bars with the sparkling and ports) and we ended up picking up some bottles to take along our way. This is located in a complex with 4 wineries although two were closed today. If you are going to taste at all of them they provide a one time tasting fee discount that applies to the other wineries so it's a great value. Frankly, tasting at two of them with all the numerous choices to taste will pretty much wipe out your palate for the day. I tasted 15 wines, sparkling and ports and after that my brain was done. Much like the other vineyards in Livermore, for $10 you get a flight of good tasting wine! Although Singing Winemaker has great whites and reds, my absolute favorite were the sparkling wine! I highly recommend giving the Peach and Almond a try! I also really enjoyed the Dulce! Singing Winemaker is one of four wineries on the property. If you pay a little more, you can try all four out, which is an amazing deal! However, my friends and I didn't have the opportunity to do that as we arrived near closing hours. They play live music and atmosphere was energetic and friendly. Service was good, as well. Al was super nice and even gave the birthday boy a little cool blinking birthday pin. Thanks! Awesome atmosphere with life music. We came here around 4pm on a Sunday. It costs $10 for a tasting but you get 50% off for checking in on yelp. If you opt for a $20 tasting that also includes tasting at the 2 adjacent wineries. For the $10 tasting you can choose 4 wines. We started with the sparkling set of 4 wines (but it only counted as 1 wine). All were pretty good but I preferred the Brut. Next I tried the Scherzando which reminded me of a Riesling. I can't remember which Red I tasted but I think it was called the Melody which was decent. The final wine I tried was the chocolate Port which served as a delicious dessert to finish off my tasting. I highly recommend The Singing Winemaker located at Tesla Vinters with the perfect atmosphere and delicious wines. Don't be afraid to come in and join the party! Environment was pretty cool. Nice store front with lots to look around at. But we did not come here to browse, we came to taste wine! In their flight for $10, they offer 4 tastes; however, if you can trade 1 taste for 4 different sparkling wine for a total of 7 tastes. Four of us tried: - California Brut -- pretty decent sparkling wine - Peach -- cheap flavoring over the California Brut - Raspberry - repeat of the peach but now with Raspberry flavoring - Almond - a strange Amaretto flavor that we very sweet but by that time I was way too turned off - Port #1 - This was the only somewhat decent wine but we were all overwhelmed from the earlier sparkling wines - Port #2 - ... - Chocolate port - a heavy mix of chocolate into port -- we all found it a little over powering Perhaps it was our mistake for not trying more traditional wines, but we do like our ports and it is hard to not take advantage of a 4:1 trade for tastings. I have been to this place twice and each time I had a ball. I walk in and my friends let the whole place know that we are here to celebrate my birthday. One of the ladies behind the counter hands me beads with a 'happy birthday' star dangling from it. I put it on. It lights up! The guitarist starts singing happy birthday to me. It was very nice. We sampled 3 sparkling wines: peach, raspberry and almond. Delicious! I also snacked on some goldfish they keep in bowls on the counter. I purchased a couple salami and cheese roll up for $2.75 each. They hit the spot! A few other ladies walked in and they are also celebrating their birthdays. We started doing chocolate shots and the bar. I bought a bottle of the almond wine for $17.95. The actual Singing Winemaker is usually there on weekends (we went on Friday, so we missed him) but his wife Karen was pouring for us - very personable and knowledgeable. Surprisingly, almost all of the wines are less than $20, the sparkling are only $16.95, so it's extremely reasonable. They have a nice picnic area outside and there are two other tasting rooms on the property, so with a picnic lunch you could make it your one-stop wine tasting tour. read more

We recently visited this winery for holiday in the vineyard. We were not happy with the customer service. The place was hit and stuffy and the older lady behind the counter was not friendly and acted annoyed. We had talked not service at the other wineries on the Tesla property but we're very disappointed again with this one. They do have great things that you can purchase for your kitchen such as crafts and other things. They also have great shirts that you can buy. The pours are very small. The ports are good but having grouchy people serve you isn't fun! read more

Had a great time at the Singing Winemaker a couple weeks ago! The tasting room is pretty small, and it was rather crowded, but we made friends pretty quickly with a birthday party who was there celebrating, and it didn't seem too crowded after a while. There was also live music, which was fun! We did the sparkling wine tasting menu, and they were all delicious! I preferred the raspberry sparkling wine, whereas my husband preferred the peach sparkling wine. It's also full of fun little knick-knacks. All of the servers were very friendly and knowledgable about the wines, and were totally willing to let us revisit wines we liked, and weren't too strict about the 4-wine tasting limit. There are two other wineries in the same lot, and for $20 you get to taste 4 wines at each tasting room, so I highly recommend stopping here for a one-stop shop! read more

It's a bit more dive-y than a typical winery, but that's what gives this place character. The staff was super friendly and all had smiles on their faces. The only reason it gets an extra star is because of the guy singing while playing the guitar. The wine is mediocre at best. They have a so-called Sparkling Brut that was described at "dry and crisp," which was neither. When we asked the, we call them bartenders at this point, why it was described as "dry" he said, "people make the mistake of assuming brut's as being dry." Uhhh... Your description literally says dry... Their raspberry flavored sparkling wine tastes Ike cough syrup and their Chardonnay was an abomination, as my boyfriend calls it. It tasted like water. I came here this past Saturday and was definitely underwhelmed by the place. The staff wasn't rude but definitely was not all that friendly. I tipped our wine server (as I thought this was a standard thing to do) and didn't receive great service as a result. I thanked the wine server on several occasions after she poured me the wine and didn't get a "you're welcome" of any sort. And I'm going to agree with Daniel S.'s review that their "splash" is tiny, compared to the rest of the wineries on the property.
