Friendly service and yummy food. There was only one other table and they left as soon as I got my food. The soda is by the can. I got chicken vindaloo which was rich and spicy (I got Med so HOT HOT. Must be a killer). My server offered me more basmati rice which is $3 on the menu but I think she was going to comp it. The butter naan is made with real ghee and was delicious but could have used 10-20 seconds more in the tandor. I love a good lunch deal, and Silk Road absolutely delivers. The portions are so generous it easily turns into two meals. As my husband likes to say, quantity is a quality all to itself. While the entire menu is vast -- The lunch menu is simple, just a handful of specials like chicken, lamb, veggie, and possibly a fish option. Each one comes with your choice of soup or salad. We could not decide, so naturally we got one of each. The soup was fine, but I knew a full spread was coming, so I did not make much of an effort to finish it. I ordered the chicken lunch special and my husband went with the lamb. Everything arrives on a stainless steel cafeteria tray. You get naan, buttered or plain, your main dish, a generous serving of biryani rice with even more meat, a small cardamom rice pudding, a few crispy fried veggie bites, and a cooling yogurt sauce to tie it all together. The chicken and lamb were surprisingly similar in flavor, though I think I slightly preferred the sauce on the lamb. At around sixteen dollars, it feels like a steal, especially with leftovers guaranteed. The space itself is nice, with a pretty bar and a large TV, plus some outdoor seating tucked in the back. Silk Road is a such a unique find. It specializes in Kerala style food which originated from southern most state of India. The food is simply delicious. The prices are little steep but the quantity and quality makes it worth it. I love their Kottayam curry which goes well with Kappa or rice The parotta is freshly made and so flakey. It was my first time trying Silk Road and I ordered takeout after a busy week. I wanted to try the chicken curry after seeing so many positive comments about it and it indeed was tasty. Also ordered the saag paneer and the flavor was good but what stood out were the large chunks of paneer. I also tried the parotta which I had never had. It was buttery and rich. I will probably stick with naan next time but it was good to try. Finally the samosas. They were tasty but were a bit greasy and I felt that the chutneys were both a little watered down. This was my second time at Silk Road. The first time I came for dinner, and the second time for lunch. Both times were good. The lunch special is solid if you enjoy biryani, since they won't do any substitutions. You get a side of vegetables or soup, pakora (which could use some chaat masala on it), an entrée, biryani, butter or plain naan, raita, and a sweet dish. I've had very good experience in this place previously and when they advertised their Seafood thali, I was excited. The listed items and the photo posted was so enticing. Food - far from it. The thali didn't have anchovy, no crab soup, no roasted shrimp as listed. There was 'fish peera' which was 90% fish bones. The oil that was used was stale for the curry and it tasted so bad. The fried pompano was two smaaall tail pieces!! The price was $25.00. The whole presentation was possibly worth $5 or less. Disappointed? That's not the word.. much worse than that. Like this place! Very accommodating that mild is mild. Th dosa was great and had great crispness on the edges Loved the lamb saag and the chicken tandoori Biryani was good and the aloo Manchurian. I have come back for the second weekend in a row because of how much I like the food and ambience. The Silk Road of history was a thing of legends and this restaurant does a good job of reminding us of how globalization changed and keeps changing the food we eat. They need better signage over their entrance since it looks like an entrance for the HotWorx next door. The chicken biryani is the best biryani I have had in Dallas since i moved here from LA last year. I highly recommend Silk Road as a worthwhile restaurant to enjoy with your loved ones. read more

Ambience and service was on point! Food was also very delicious chicken momos was hit on our table. So flavorful and tasty. Duck curry with Porotta also a great choice we selected. I enjoyed the gravy of it and we had chicken Kurma, and ghee dosa. I've noticed that many Indian restaurants start really good but after a year or so the consistency is not there. Ate at this restaurant with a friend. Got some tandoori chicken, garlic naan, a vegetable curry, and the lamb and chicken biryani in the clay pot. All the food was good with the naan and biryani being the standouts. Best biryani I've ever had. Service was good and the owner even stopped by our table to greet us. We went for a birthday celebration lunch and had a great experience! Even with a large party and being there at the rush of lunch, the service and ambiance were wonderful. The food was delicious - truly authentic Kerala food! We ordered beef coconut fry, nadan curry, chicken biriyani, vembanaden pal konju, clay pot chicken and lamb biriyanj, and a few parotta and appam. The kids had butter naan and butter masala. As residents of Fort Worth, we were lucky to be in the Coppell area and found The Silk Road restaurant. It's a lovely place, large open room with high ceilings. Very nicely decorated. New. Clean. Even better, we loved the food! Samosas to start. Fresh hot naan. The chicken Malabar was light and flavorful. Relishes, sauces and mango chutney were also provided. Rice pudding to finish. We felt the portion sizes were large, enough to bring home half. And I especially appreciated their efforts to get the spice level right for me. Our servers were prompt and helpful. Heard about this place and ordered food. Taste was good but the portion size is pathetic. I ordered 10 idiyappams and 10 appams and they only gave a small cup of coconut milk. The second time around they forgot to give idiappam and had coconut milk in a tiny sauce container...... anytime you order take out - Beware. I've been hearing raves about this restaurant both on Yelp and FB. I decided to get takeout tonight and I was excited because they had both chicken tikka masala and butter chicken on the menu. My go-to is butter chicken because it's just richer and creamier than tikka masala, but in this case, I think I actually got Tikka Masala. The gravy was dark red and very tomato forward. Not the rich color butter chicken gets with cream and butter. The chicken also had a weird texture- kind of what you get with a slow cooker. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't what I expected. And if you want any spice at all, don't order mild. There was no spice at all. I'm disappointed that Chowrathsta closed because they did it right. Very creamy and a little bit of heat for mild. They're new so I will have to check back after they've gotten some mileage. Also, they don't have their liquor license yet so don't go expecting a drink. read more

Horrible quality at insane prices. I wouldn't pay $2 a dish at this place but they charge $20 a dish which is ridiculous considering the food is awful quality. Every dish is mostly sauce as they skimp on the actual portions. Chicken tikka masala was horrible. Chicken was dry and tough like leather. The sauce was bland and tasteless. The tandoori roti was like rubber. The aloo curry was mostly sauce and shredded vegetables. It even had a hair in it. Gross. Awful quality and a total ripoff. Will not be back! read more
