The only complaint I have is they close early sadly! Would love for them to stay open at least till 5. But nevertheless it's still a must stop when we can make it. Service has always been great, welcoming; and super sweet in advice for what to recommend. I have tried new drinks every time I have stopped and ALL have been made delicious. My boy has tried the blueberry pancake latte & Matcha ... They both were incredible! Honestly thought they would be a bit on the sweet side but very surprised that it's such a great balance and not to over powering in blueberry taste but enough to definitely know it's blueberry pancake! Loved it! Teddy grandham latte was incredible! Such a great cinnamon taste that brings back the childhood memories. The coffee taste is a great combination with the cinnamon. Coco Loco I didn't think I would be into nitro coffee since I have not liked it before BUT this place here has made me loved it! For any coco lovers out there this drink is great! Loved this cute spot to hang out or even relax a bit from the road before heading back. Recommend stopping and re routing for this hidden gem!

We had a group of 8 adults who had just completed touring 2 of the Painted Churches, in and around Schulenburg. While our tour guide greeted several servers as we entered like old friends, I don't think that was the cause of their friendliness to our group as a whole, I saw them happily greeting everyone and providing excellent service. Our happy server quickly took drink orders, you can tell when a server is confident in her job and knows the routines as she never wrote anything down but when she returned with drinks, the orders were all correct. She then took orders for lunch, we had a variety of offerings from the menu. I decided on the Tzatziki Salad, a nicely presented Greek style salad with grilled chicken breast slices and some tzatziki with pita points. Others around me had the Rueben and the grilled chicken salad and said everything was perfect. I also heard great things about the home made chicken salad and their hamburgers. And if you feel like your garden needs a bit more color, just step into the garden center after lunch and pick out some lovely plants to take home!

I was pleasantly surprised at the absolutely amazing freshness and quality of the food and modern/light atmosphere of this place (a bit unexpected after a few lackluster food experiences in Schulenberg leading up to our lunch here). It was every bit at good as some of the cafes I've eaten in major cities (where there is heavy dining competition). Mom and I both ordered their delicious chicken salad sandwich, piled high (but not too thickly) with shredded chicken on perfectly baked, flaky (but not too flaky) croissant bread. The chicken salad was a perfect blend of seasonings with a few cranberries for a little sweetness. Divine! Each sandwich came with a side of crispy/perfect (seemingly handmade) chips. Our tour guide ordered a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich which she seemed to really enjoy as well, complete with perfectly buttered and crisp grilled sourdough bread. The atmosphere was very modern and new yet warm and dotted with beautiful antique pieces (be sure to check out the old buffet across from the bathroom doors, gorgeous!). And this place seemed packed with many locals in their brunch attire to enjoy the great food and great hospitality of the wait staff. Behind the restaurant, they also host a beautiful nursery where you can browse under the trees through their fairly extensive collection of plants (flowering and non flowering - we saw some variations of native flowering plants we've either never seen before or don't see often so my mom purchased a few for her garden!), chat with the very knowledgeable and friendly owner of the nursery, browse the little nursery gift shop full of unique and beautiful items, and even visit with the sweet "shop" kitties (who seem to like to hang out near the nursery gift shop entrance) if you wish. All in all, a very special experience at this gem in Schulenberg. We will definitely make this our number one stop for meals (and to buy more plants) in Schulenberg when we return!

Andy himself has been at the counter during my couple of spots and makes an effort to have a real conversation which is so nice. Fat Andy's -- First Visit Review…read more Fat Andy's has taken to social media to promote their product, and the posts feature Andrew, who must be our very own Fat Andy. We decided to take an early lunch and head over to Santa Fe to give the place a go. The establishment presents as clean and friendly, with a bit of an unfinished, "there is more to come" vibe. It feels like a good startup should. Andy was manning the counter and seemed to genuinely enjoy engaging with customers as they ordered. He pointed out the specials a few times as we grazed the menu selections. The hot pastrami had its very own sign, so I took that as a sign. I like a good pastrami. We picked out a table and waited for our food. After a short while, we heard our name called and I retrieved the wrapped sandwiches. The missus had the half turkey, and I went with the full-size hot pastrami. Now, before I go too far, my first instinct was to order the monster signature sandwich called "The Fat Andy." I did have that pang of guilt at first, thinking I really didn't want to be Fat Jeff anymore, so I thought better of it. The sandwiches were good. The ingredients were fresh, the lettuce was crisp, and the peppers on my pastrami were absolutely a winner. No disappointment there at all. The portions were healthy, and the side of pasta I chose was spot on with its mix of ingredients and the tang of the dressing. The sandwich bread, or hoagie rolls, were solid and appeared to be fresh. All of that being said, we found Fat Andy's to be a good value. For some critique -- and I go back to not ordering the signature sandwich, which looked from the menu description to have some special touches -- the sandwiches we ordered on this first visit were made with the same type of ingredients one can buy at most deli counters featuring Boar's Head products. The bread was good, but not fancy, and did not seem to contain anything especially unique that made it feel like a signature sandwich experience. Now don't get me wrong. Even with great ingredients, there is skill in putting together a good sandwich, so I am not discounting them on where they source their products. But a true deli sandwich experience requires something that makes the place stand out just a little. Aside from the great personality Andy brings to his customers, the sandwiches on this trip did not make me feel like they stood above most other good deli sandwiches. That said, I live a very short drive from Andy's, and I hope to watch it grow. I also hope to experience more of the fun Andy seems to be having by sharing his food and his creations with the community. I encourage everyone to give Andy a shout and tell him Jeff sent you. And next time, I'm going in for the Fat Jeff... Uhh, I meant to say "The Fat Andy."
