Kohler is the ONLY place we found that was open on the weekends for repairs! That is a statement that should be all on it's own. We also got a very fair price and knowledgeable advice from Jeff there. (We called about 5 other places in the area and back in Portland and they were all crazy expensive...people knew we were in a bind). Jeff offered to get a lightly used transmission from Pendleton and install it to avoid spending $$$$$$ on a brand new one. Further, we were able to find one on our own and have it shipped to Jeff and he offered to install that one just the same. We were basically up shit creek without a paddle....they could have taken crazy advantage of us and chose to go the fair and honest route---hard to find these days, especially among mechanics. We had to keep moving on our roadtrip to start jobs, etc so they drove all of us to the airport Hertz even--really went the extra mile. With all the back and forth, they probably spent many hours on the phone with us going through all the details and pricing, etc They test drove it for over 200 miles upon our request before we arrived to pick it up, just to make sure it was running properly w/ the used transmission. He said there was no chance of us getting in that night. So we had to stay a night to wait for them to open in the morning. We made our way to the shop in the morning to have a gentleman named Jeff look at the car. Pops the hood looks in the radiator and then explains how if the radiator is empty it can't cool the car, simple right? He fills the radiator with our coolant and 2 gallons of water to send us on our way. We make it to the exact same spot as we did the day before only to overheat again.
