This store is off-putting and misrepresents itself. The door states that it sells a few types of…read moreitems, including antiques. There were not really any true antiques in the store except for a few old porcelain vases (that also could easily have been repros). I felt like that was a misrepresentation for sure. That aside, the store carries some good/ok products - mostly baby toys such as Mon Ami stuffies, which I have now seen in a few places. Some of the art was antique-ish, antique, or at least decent, but didn't always have obvious labels or ages (and was clearly a mix). The staff weren't particularly friendly, but there was some signage which put me off. Upon entering the store, there is a no food or drink sign (normal), but also a sign that you must hold your child's hand if under like 11 years old, which rubbed me wrong. Especially given much of the content of the store. "You break it you buy it" would be more fitting. Additionally, there were no photo or videos signs in the store. It overall felt quite aggressive and with the assumption of ill intent or impact by customers.

The two proprietors of this store are so rude that it's laughable. Truly SNL caricatures of the ultimate snobs. I can't imagine ever buying a thing from them. I've gone in just to show people how awful the service is. Amazing how they've stayed in business!

I went into the store just to look, not intending to buy anything. But, I left the store with a…read moreset of mixing bowls, a kitchen accessory, and a necklace for my for my daughter-in-law. What helped me buy? * All products were MADE IN THE USA. Really. * The store was easy to shop. Items were placed where you could handle them; prices were clearly marked; and the selection was sufficient, without being overwhelming. * The prices were very reasonable. I googled the items before I bought, and Conklin's was equal to the best price on-line, and better than many retailers. * The owners were on-site; knew their products; and gave great, personal customer service. I'll drive by the stores and shops in Rockland and Camden to experience Conklin's again.

We travelled with a small puppy i was holding in my arms as courtesy when entering all the stores we visited and 99% of store owners were friendly and welcomed us inside. When we were about to enter this store a man gestured rudely with his hand shooing us due to the puppy i was holding in my arms. I respect rules set forward by business owners and understand if a dog is not allowed however it is unacceptable to treat potential buying customers in such a nasty way. Given my experience and the other negative reviews i can confirm this is not a pleasant place to shop.

Shops like this can sometimes be tacky and touristy but Sugar Tools keeps things more on the interesting and good quality side of the equation. It's a fun place to browse. Yesterday I bought a wooden frog that comes with a wooden stick. If you hold the frog in an open palm and hit it gently with the stick, it makes a croaking sound like an actual frog would. I bought this for a friend with whom I share a frog affinity... we have a personal funny story about frogs that goes back years so whenever we see frog related things in our travels we buy them for each other. Visit Sugar Tools when you're next in Camden. I think you'll be glad you did.

I've been a huge fan of Sugar Tools since the day they opened. I discovered the shop quite by…read moreaccident and got hooked. It's a real treasure with unique home goods, accessories and clothing. And every time I'd vacation in Camden, it would be my first go-to place. However, recently when I ordered a gift online, they sent it to me instead of the recipient. No biggie. Life happens. But when I called Amy to explain the situation, she seemed perplexed as how to solve the problem and passed me on to her assistant. All I wanted was a UPS label so I could send the gift merrily on its way. Instead I was instructed to return the item before they could ship out a replacement. And it took 5 calls to accomplish that. Seriously? I've been in retail for many years and that just isn't how it's done. Making the customer satisfied should be paramount. Months later, I still have a bitter taste in my mouth... that even their Frontier Maple Syrup can't sweeten.
