I went into the store just to look, not intending to buy anything. But, I left the store with a…read moreset of mixing bowls, a kitchen accessory, and a necklace for my for my daughter-in-law. What helped me buy? * All products were MADE IN THE USA. Really. * The store was easy to shop. Items were placed where you could handle them; prices were clearly marked; and the selection was sufficient, without being overwhelming. * The prices were very reasonable. I googled the items before I bought, and Conklin's was equal to the best price on-line, and better than many retailers. * The owners were on-site; knew their products; and gave great, personal customer service. I'll drive by the stores and shops in Rockland and Camden to experience Conklin's again.

We travelled with a small puppy i was holding in my arms as courtesy when entering all the stores we visited and 99% of store owners were friendly and welcomed us inside. When we were about to enter this store a man gestured rudely with his hand shooing us due to the puppy i was holding in my arms. I respect rules set forward by business owners and understand if a dog is not allowed however it is unacceptable to treat potential buying customers in such a nasty way. Given my experience and the other negative reviews i can confirm this is not a pleasant place to shop.

Most summers find my husband and me traveling up the coast of Maine and landing for some of the time in Camden. The Leather Bench is a Camden shop we always visit. They sell a beautiful array of leather goods from wallets, purses, bags, hats, jackets, boots, gloves, change purses. If a product can be made out of leather, chances are The Leather Bench has it and it will be beautiful. The store is small and packed with their products all nicely arranged. My understanding is that it is a family-owned store. The staff is helpful and welcoming. We've purchased a number of items over the years. On our last visit my husband bought two cases for his glasses and a leather change pouch. When this pandemic is behind us, I look forward to our next trip to Maine and to The Leather Bench.

The work is done by a studio in CA, with the material sources from our of the country (I think they said India). I was looking for local products, so that no longer fit the bill. That said, the products themselves have a great range of sizes, shapes, and colors! Idid try on a jacket that should have been big on me but it was way too small, so be careful because the jackets are also not true to size (which is very important when you are also paying the premium).
