A lot of them don't have a large selection and sometimes the items are old but not necessarily nice quality. Antiques etcetera in Rockland had neither of these problems. They have a wide variety of antiques and all of them are very high quality. My wife and I whenever we go have a difficult time not spending more than we should because there are so many great things in the store. The prices are fair and the owner is very friendly and makes you feel welcome without at all being pushy. I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves to buy unique things especially pieces of art. My wife and I bought two desk lamps that we love so much and just the other day we went back there with our friends and got some art work. They are constantly adding new things and what they have flies off the shelves. Do yourself a favor and stop in if your in the area visiting or if your a local make a day trip out to just see what they have. You may need to buy a couple things too!

He didn't have the item, but it's not easy to find and my expectations on that were very low. A friendly customer who Bob was helping before me overheard and they both offered me great advice for continuing the hunt for my treasure. I had a look around the shop, and found a beautiful (fragile) trinket I decided to purchase. Bob took extra special care in wrapping my item to make sure it would get home in one piece. It was clear he cared, even though my purchase only cost $5. (A steal). When I went out to my car, Bob had followed to take down the "open" flag and saw that I had my dog with me. He called out "next time you come please bring your dog in with you!" And that just made my day. Customer service is everything, and this place is as good as is gets. I am putting this on my "must visit" list for my future returns to coastal Maine.

I was impressed with the helpfulness of the staff as I had questions regarding my purchases. In conversation they recommended Indian Trail Antiques as a "Mantiques" location. They were spot on! We programmed the GPS and were off, two 14 year olds, my wife and I. We arrived to find out that they are closed on Monday's and Tuesdays, however, Charles was working in yard/barn and invited us in, turning on the lights on all 3 floors of his large barn. We had a tour along with the stories of how he acquired some of his collection. The barn was neat and orderly and reminded me of the show American Pickers Antique Archeology store.

The Hoff and I visited here almost accidentally - we were looking for a different pottery shop, but happened upon the site for Rockport Pottery, followed a winding road for what seemed like an extended distance, only to find a sign that said the shop hours had past - but I saw the "OPEN" flag flying outside an open door to what looked like a shop near a house. So we pulled into the driveway and took a look. We didn't see anyone, but there was note that explained the process for buying pieces. I was shocked. I guess I'm not as trusting of human nature as the owners of this shop. So we did as we were told and as we finished wrapping two oil lamps, Richard came in. We got to talking, and he shared with us his feelings about pottery, why it's made, how it's sold, etc. He was clearly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his craft. But what surprised me more than his business model was his generosity when we mentioned that we had just become engaged. He insisted on giving us an engagement gift, "since I probably won't have the chance to give you a wedding gift." After asking my color preference (blue), he gave me some options. The first thing he selected was a set of four bowls (each $28 dollars) that I had been looking at but decided I couldn't afford. He was immensely kind, and it made me feel so good about our visit to Rockport Pottery and gave me all sorts of happy feelings about my engagement. That's a bit silly, of course, but Rockport Pottery is a place of good energy and good people.
