Yesterday I bought a wooden frog that comes with a wooden stick. If you hold the frog in an open palm and hit it gently with the stick, it makes a croaking sound like an actual frog would. I bought this for a friend with whom I share a frog affinity... we have a personal funny story about frogs that goes back years so whenever we see frog related things in our travels we buy them for each other. All I wanted was a UPS label so I could send the gift merrily on its way. Instead I was instructed to return the item before they could ship out a replacement. And it took 5 calls to accomplish that. Seriously? I've been in retail for many years and that just isn't how it's done. Making the customer satisfied should be paramount. Months later, I still have a bitter taste in my mouth... that even their Frontier Maple Syrup can't sweeten.

I received incorrect chairs which were very expensive. The back cushions were wrong and the measurements were incorrect. She claims the were correct although any and all correspondence say otherwise. She will not make it right, I have not received my sofa. My feeling is she did not confirm with the design house that they got corrections since both things were wrong on the chairs and the sofa. Hoping to not have to change the cushions, she responded that the style I wanted was not graceful. Insulting client, bad form. I cannot tell you how many conversations we had about the cushions and measurements of the chairs. Probably best to use other decorators In town to that stand behind their product. There's not a ton of high value objects, but plenty of nostalgia and thrifty finds. We spent at least 45 minutes browsing the rows and rows and ended up walking away with a bunch of vintage political pins (which I collect). They don't have a lot of staff on hand, so there can sometimes be a wait to flag down someone to open the cases and check out, but they're all very friendly. They accept credit cards but have an old school paper tracking system; they prefer cash.

She has always told me about how great the store is and how wonderful their products are. From what I can tell from their website, they carry a little bit of everything from seasonal items to household goods and appliances and all types of food items. They carry a large selection of their own brand of specialty foods. In my gift box, I received some of Stonewall Kitchen's Flatbread Crisps, Artichoke Spinach Dip Mix, Roasted Garlic Onion Dip Mix, Sun-Dried Tomato Olive Spread, Holiday Jam, and Maine Maple Champagne Mustard. So far, I have eaten all the Flatbread crisps with some of the Roasted Garlic Onion Dip Mix and with some of the Tomato Olive Spread. They were all delicious. I could have eaten the whole bowl of the Roasted Garlic Onion Dip Mix I prepared. It was so good! This trip, I flew and was prepared to shop a big order & have it shipped home. When I inquired of the sales person about shipping charges, (a regular employee) I was told that I would have to pay shipping-regardless of what I spent. When I advised the clerk that I always got free shipping(based on the money I spent in the store) he/she advised me that he's only a cashier and that's the rules. I advised him that I could go on-line, get free shipping and not support this store. As I was leaving, I heard derogatory remarks being mumbled from the associate. As a retail executive, I don't know of any retail store that would turn away a large sale over principal do you?
