School is around the corner, the breezes have gone from warm to crisp, and the rains slip down from the mountains more frequently. It's almost time to head home, back to real life. But you want something to take with you, a little momento of the sun and sea and lobsters and lighthouses. But how many postcards, cartoony mugs and made-in-China trinkets do you need? Let's face it, you want something unique and uniquely Maine. Head on over to Maine Gathering in the gorgeous harbor town of Camden! Maine Gathering is what it sounds like: a place where Maine artists come together to share their work with locals and visitors alike. In this small, unassuming shop, you can find pottery, jewelry, float rope mats and baskets (all recycled!), birch bark momentos, sea glass bits and bobs, and a plethora of all things lobster! Almost everything is hand made by a Maine local, and it shows: Every detail represents something that makes this state a rare gem on the East Coast. And owners Howard and Margaret Gallagher make sure that every visitor feels welcomed into this Maine artistic haven. From the in-depth knowledge of everyone who works there to Howard's jovial nature to the sheer selection of amazing gifts, Maine Gathering is THE place to go to find something to help you remember your Maine vacation for years to come!
