I go here quite often, the staff is always kind and helpful. There is an array of items to look at, and tons of variety. Unfortunately, there is no heat of air conditioning, so if it is very hot and humid it's not a good place to be in and feels like an oven. When it's cold, it's freezing but if you wear a coat (sometimes even gloves) it's bearable! I have found good stuff here and always leave with a few things. I live to look around and find treasures. Today I was looking for a specific item. Of course, I found some other things. I got to the counter and was treated poorly by the woman behind the counter. The prices were WAY too high for what I had. After I left, I found the interaction with the woman behind the counter kept coming back in my mind, like what the hell was that. It bothered me enough that I just looked up reviews and saw that this is consistent at the Sharehouse. Very unfortunate that this behavior must somehow be accepted as normal here. The prices I was given were no where near what I would consider paying, I tried to barter and she took the stuff behind the counter so quickly I didn't even have a chance to think about it. Once that happened she gave me even more outrageous prices on what was left and looked at me like, what you going to do now? The poor behavior was so thick it filled the entrance. This used/vintage store has everything and the kitchen sink (literally). Where most thrift stores have a carefully curated selection of items, the ShareHouse feels more like going through grandma's attic and grandpa's barn (if your grandparents were hoarders). Fish tanks, doors, puzzles, sewing machines, vintage clothing, seasonal decorations, artwork, office supplies, boxes of tiles, miter saws, salad mixers, teacups, umbrellas, wrapping paper, guitars, ski poles,...if you can think of it, you can probably find it there. There is so much stuff at the ShareHouse that it was overwhelming the first time I went there. I now go there a few times a year. There is no signage for sections, no prices on the majority of the items, and searching for what you want might require a lot more digging and hunting than at the Goodwill. Prices are often negotiable at the front counter, but when they are busier they are less likely to haggle because they have a long line of customers waiting to check out. I've found the pricing, in general, to be very reasonable...but I always try to shop there when there are fewer people when the cashier is less stressed. I rarely haggle. If unclear pricing is not for you, you may not like this store. The quality of items is just as chaotic as the store...I got a practically new Vera Bradley backpack in great condition for $10 but the appliances section looks questionable to me. I don't know if they test any of them and many are very old/vintage. Unlike other thrift stores I've been to, I don't think that ShareHouse does much more than clean the merchandise and put it on a shelf. If you enjoy a massive variety of items, love a treasure hunt, and don't mind some chaos...this is a great place to check out. read more

I'm not sure how this place can legally be open for business? It is a disorganized maze of stuff that isn't priced. They tried to make a one story building into a split level with steep ramps and stairs. Many of the ramps and stairs don't even have handrails! I've come here many times but today was the last time. I got to the store at 5:48, just had to run in to look at their glasses collection for something specific. I walked in, and was immediately talked at by a young girl saying they were closed. I said "you guys close at 6? I have 10 minutes." She rudely said "we're trying to get everyone out". When I replied "I understand but I'm just going to look at the glasses quickly" she audibly sighed, walked away, then went to the back to watch and wait for me to leave. Not sure what got her panties in a twist but she lost a valuable customer. I've purchased so many OVER PRICED things - and each time I go someone seems to be so rude. I've had other bad encounters here but decided to let it slide, but this was my last straw. My friends have had bad experiences too and when I stated I wasn't going back they said "oh we stopped going there a while ago. Too overpriced and the workers were so rude". We are going on a treasure hunt... The Share House is a chaotic, 3 story house filled with all kinds of objects you never knew you needed. What did we know we needed? A toaster, a cork board, and a laundry hamper. What we left with? A toaster, a toaster oven, 2 pairs of shoes, a jacket, 3 cereal bowls, and a white board. The pricing makes no sense, but all seems to work out in the wash if you buy several things. The nice toaster oven for only $5 well made up for the three $2 each ceramic bowls with chips. The $6 pair of Talbot's heels definitely made up for the over priced Macy's jacket at $30 that was categorized as "leather." (I googled the brand after I made it home and found out the jacket wasn't the prize I thought I found.) I can see how the lack of price tags or any signage can be frustrating. They charged $6 both for a brand new pair of heels from Talbot's but also a grubby pair of tennis shoes with only one shoe lace. I guess it's all a part of the charm. It's a weird dimension of it's own. I think they call it character. We did get good service and the cashier was nice. They have literally everything. Musical instruments, a whole row of crock pots in every shape and size, cassette tapes, books, bowling balls, yoga mats, coolers, and clothing. Everything was quite a jumble, and a lot was dirty and dusty. I didn't see this as too much of a bad thing because it added to the feel of the place. The problem was that it affected my allergies. I left sneezing and with a runny nose. Holy moly, I almost forgot to mention the fleet of baby strollers they had out front. It's a pretty cool place, and we would come back again. read more

The vibe here is not as pleasant as it once was. The current cashier (owner?) is stern, unsmiling, and quick to place high prices on items without price tags. The building is dark. Items for sale on the top floor are mostly orderly, although there may be small piles of things in bins or on the floor in the holiday area and in toy section. The lower level and the rear receiving area are much more cluttered than sections on main floor. Prices are sometimes high for a thrift/resale shop. I recently looked at a jacket to take on a short trip and was surprised by the $50 price tag. I decided to check TJMaxx and found two new coats for $25 each. Dollar store items I noticed at ShareHouse were priced at $2.00 and higher. On the other hand, I found an elegant coffee table for $40. Reasonably priced items can be found on occasion, but I've had better luck, welcoming smiles, and better prices at Kiwanis, which is only open Fridays and Saturday's, the Ann Arbor Thrift Shop, and at the PTO Thrift Shop. I also like knowing where the money I pay is donated. The PTO Thrift Shop, A2 Thrift, and the ShareHouse are each open 6 days a week, which is nice. read more

Like many others, the biggest turn off for me is the lack of consistent pricing, and the treatment of customers at checkout. It's important to remember that sharehouse runs completely on donations. All these items were gifted to them; while I know it costs to keep the lights on and pay staff, it doesn't account for the outrageous at times made up buffoonery that is accounted for after waiting 15 minutes to check out pressed up against other things and people trying to squeeze past you. You're committed now right? You glance down at the jacket in your hand--it's missing a button--you can sew one on (but you will have to buy some (add to list))! You make it to the checkout and the cashier, looks at the jacket, and completely straight faced remarks: "$60" in utter amazement, you pause and say "60? I thought maybe 10? It's missing buttons?" Without a beat, she throws the jacket into growing pile behind her. "60" You are bullied into leaving the jacket behind, feeling stupid, ashamed, or paying the outrageous price that is close to retail for a used, defective jacket because there is not only her eyes borrowing into you but the line behind you. Good luck. One extra star was added simply because there is so many things to go through and absolutely no curation, so you may want to take gloves, but in having so much presents the availability to find something truly unique. read more

Main manager working the register is a complete nightmare. She is rude. She is pushy. She makes up prices then when you ask her to rethink it she just repeats herself like you are stupid. I will never go back to the share house again. NEVER. There are two stray cats walking around inside the store. Unsafe aisles. Piles and piles of stuff are an accident waiting to happen. I've been going to Share House for many years to purchase golf clubs, tools, clothes, etc. Spent way too much money there. All the employees know who I am from my almost daily visits. Mark in the basement is awesome. But today I had an appalling experience which I must share. Normally things like this don't bother me and I'm not a person to complain online. But I want Share House to know that I will NEVER shop there again. I arrived and walked to the back lot to look at golf clubs as I always have. I saw many golf clubs sitting beside the dumpster and thought they moved their stash or gotten some new ones in to sell. I proceed to look at them and hear, "Hey guy, there's nothing back there." So I turn around and wave to the worker and he says, "Oh, okay." I presumed he saw me looking at clubs like he has a million times and everything was fine. How I was wrong. Another worker now comes around the corner and says, "How many times do we have to tell you that you can't be back here? Get out of here!" This was a simple misunderstanding on my part. I had entered one of their special "Keep Out" zones which wasn't marked. It obviously pissed them off. So I seriously apologize for the misunderstanding. The other employee simply says to me, "I asked you to stay out. Do you take me for a fu#@ing idiot!?" Yep, profanity spewed at me just because I looked at some old used golf clubs. Seriously? Choke on your major attitude and nasty demeanor. And rest easy, I will never set foot in there again to peruse the donated items that you sell. read more

This thrift store might suit your taste or not. It's expansive, with sections for every imaginable item. I purchased numerous paintings, lamps, a few rugs, and even a brand-new carpet cleaner, all for under $100. A helpful guy in the basement provided clear prices on a ticket for me to take to the cashier. The cashier was delightful, and I'll definitely be back! When buying 35+ used coffee mugs for a fun wedding event we offered to pay $1/ea (as prices aren't listed on items) from a rack labeled "$0.50+ Up" I was told each mug would be $2-3 which seems a bit extreme for used dirty mugs. This place used to be great, but it has really gone downhill. I've noticed the prices going up for things, but haven't complained because prices everywhere have increased so it makes sense. But today I bought something old and very used for the same price as I could have gotten it new. I didn't say anything when she priced it even though I thought It sounded steep because I wanted to price compare, and sure enough it was the same price brand new. When I went back to return it or see if she could adjust it, she just pointed to a sign that said "all sales are final." She wasn't apologetic at all, even though she was the person who decided what the price should be and made a bad sale. Don't waste your time here. Not great. There are no prices on 99% of the items in the store. So basically you bring all of your selections up to the register and the woman just names off a price. So you are left to decide if you want to keep something or leave it on the spot. Most of it is junk and the things that are nice/worth anything they charge the same amount (if not more) than sellers on eBay. I would say go there and if you like something, buy it on eBay because it will be cheaper and likely in better condition. They have Pyrex, Fiestaware, etc but this is not the place to get it, you won't get a good deal. $7 for an old t-shirt with a hole in the sleeve made me laugh. I waited until I had been to The ShareHouse several times to write a review. I am not usually an individual who writes reviews, however, I have had such poor experiences here that I have sought out the opportunity to leave a review to inform other shoppers. Overall, they have a large variety of things for thrifters. However, there is ZERO CONSISTENCY WITH PRICING. I have asked for the price of the SAME lamp three times. The first time, it was $30. The second time, it was $20. And now, it's $50. And this was within a 2 week period. This pricing was provided to me by the woman working the front desk, who is unwilling to negotiate prices despite claiming to do so (as in asking for $1 off anything is a no go). Additionally, they currently have 50% off of furniture and some other items. However, when you ask the price of an item, they will mark it up to over 100% of what the original price, meaning that even with the 50% 'markdown', you're still paying more than the original price. Overall, I would highly recommend Ann Arbor PTO Thrift Store and it's Showcase over The ShareHouse, as they have much fairer and consistent prices and a similar variety and diversity of items. read more

The Sharehouse is a hidden gem! Wonderful shop for browsing and finding treasures for great prices. I can't understand why there are so many negative reviews. From reading the negative feedback I would guess those folks aren't cut out for rummaging through the bins and piles to discover great finds. One persons dream shop could be another's nightmare I suppose. Here you will find everything you could need for your home. Don't go out and buy things retail when you can find what you need here- kitchen gadgets, tools & utensils, clothing, home decor, baby clothes, toys, Vintage collectibles, craft supplies, office supply, pet supply- non food items, etc. The prices are very fair and I have negotiated in the past to work within my budget. The key is to be respectful- I've never had a single experience where the staff was rude to me in all these years of shopping there. Quite the opposite actually. I do find that people tend to treat you the way you treat them, so there may be some insight in that. Working retail can be tough- I find if you take a moment to connect and be pleasant as opposed to treating workers like "the help" most people respond kindly to that. As much as I highly recommend this shop, and boy do I-it may not be everyone's cup of tea. For me the treasure hunt is too enticing and fun to be bothered by minor things like- if someone working the shop is having a bad day, having to search through bins, asking for pricing, etc. read more

I cannot believe that sharehouse doesn't have a 5 star overall rating. The owner is God sent. She literally accepts almost anything to be dropped off and placed into her hands, taking on the responsibility to store the items, display them, sort them, etc. And yet there are locals coming on here complaining about her. Feeling too uncomfortable about how she goes about pricing the items? I don't understand that. My son is autistic, and she has sold us a couple of items for a very low price in order to accommodate his needs. I am so grateful for her. Thank you, sharehouse. Very overwhelming! Stuff is everywhere and blocked in by more stuff. I couldn't get to items I was interested in. Outside area is dangerous for walking around because stuff is just laying everywhere. There were soft (strollers, couch, etc) items left outside so if it rains, it gets wet. I'm surprised I didn't see any rodents running around. Prices were steep compared to other thrift stores. One customer told me the cause is good, but I cannot find that information anywhere. I won't be going back. read more
