The waitress and bartender were very friendly. Menu had some very English food - fish and chips, shepard's pie, bangers and mash. We got fried calamari (nope that's not English, but was good!), meat pie with mash potatoes and fish and chips (very large piece and nicely crispy). For dessert, we shared a sticky toffee pudding with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, delicious. And of course some special beers.

Nice place to stop for a drink and some food. Good service, above average pub fare. Full bar.

Came here for a private Happy Hour event, so the space was reserved. The area was dimly lit and narrow with a back area and bar area with stools. The food was pretty standard for a bar. We had veggies, salad, fish & chips, and beef sliders. Since it was a happy hour, we did not have direct servers, but they came around to restock the food which was appreciated.

A pretty legit British pub in midtown Manhattan. Came here with my squash team after completing at a nearby fancy-smancy club. One of my teammates happen to be British so it got his stamp of approval for the establishment being legit. All of the tables were taken, so we went to the bar, where there was available seating along the wall. We had to order our food and drinks at the bar, but they did bring out the food to serve us. I tried their Old Speckled Hen ($10), which is a legit British beer not owned by AB-Inbev. Since it's very hard to find a place to get this, I had to give it a try. Not bad I must admit. Foodwise, I got the classic Fish & Chips ($29). The filet is pretty decent sized and thick. Could use a bit more tartar sauce. Filling and satisfying.

I have been to the Raines Law Room inside The William on several occasions, and I was excited to try out this more relaxed environment. Our group's reservation placed us in a booth right next to the bar. Although we had some privacy, we had to rely on the bartender to take our orders. Even though the bar was located below the speakeasy, it was just a regular bar with cocktails on the pricey side. I suggest getting the beer and food instead. The salmon burger, regular burger, grilled cheese, and shepherd's pies were all delicious.

You are in for a fun night after you start vibing with the bartenders. I had the pleasure of meeting an Austin who is from Georgia. Austin knows his beers. He had me try the Wild East Temperance. I know good beers but HOLY that is some good Beer. The atmosphere is English pub vibes but with American sports.

Very good, great lunch special. Fullers London Pride on tap, homemade ricotta is excellent and worth the trip alone

Offering a $20-2 course prix fixe lunch on Tuesday - Friday, this place showed up as a favorite on Eater New York. In a city full of so many restaurants, trying to make a decision on where to go can be very time consuming. The price and the options for the prix fixe made this decision easy. On the restaurant's website, it advertises the lunch special and a link to making a reservation. With a lunch special for $20, I figured it would be crowded and went ahead and made a reservation for 2:45pm. I got there around 2:30pm (the entrance is actually below street level) and the place was completely empty. Kind of good for me as I didn't have to wait until my reservation time. I sat at the bar and the bartender greeted me right away. He gave me the menu, mentioning the lunch special. I already knew I was ordering that, so there was no need to look. For my appetizer I went with the French Onion Soup and for my "entree" I went with the Fried Fish Sandwich. The soup was excellent. A fair amount of melted gruyere, perfect amount of onion and bread and the broth flavor was spot on. Out next was the fish sandwich. This was cod which was lightly battered. It came out piping hot. Not too much tarter sauce and lettuce. It was very good. You know what would have made it over the top? Perhaps a slice of cheese. Unfortunately, I didn't think of that until afterwards. The only downfall was that they did not have brewed iced tea. I went with a Diet Coke. This was a perfect and affordable lunch.

Do they still serve English breakfast?

Yes, we are serving our full English breakfast on Sundays from 12pm.

Is it wheelchair accessible? it's difficult to tell from the outside photos

There is a ramp which goes under the front stairs you see and the ramp leads you to the lower bar / lounge. I'm not sure about access to the 2nd level though.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with champagne, which immediately set the tone for a special evening. Our server, Daniel, was beyond amazing. He was warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in making our anniversary meaningful. It never felt forced just thoughtful, polished hospitality. The team went above and beyond when we brought our wedding cake (which had been frozen for a year). Not only did they accommodate it without hesitation, they helped decorate and present it beautifully you would have thought it had been baked that same day. It was such a touching moment for us, and they handled it with care and enthusiasm. As for the food: incredible. The steak tartare was perfectly balanced and beautifully prepared. The tuna was fresh and vibrant. And the Beef Wellington... honestly one of the best I've had in New York City. Perfectly cooked, rich, elegant, and absolutely worthy of a celebration dinner. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance: romantic, warm, refined but relaxed. It felt special without being stiff. If you're looking for a place to celebrate something meaningful, this is it. We will absolutely return.

I found the hodgepodge of old-timey decor to be a bit kitsch, but to each their own. I came with a group on a weeknight with no reservation. We were seated immediately on a high wood table. Although the bar wasn't busy (there were plenty of empty spaces, small groups scattered throughout the area), the service was quite slow. The server was inattentive and took a while to take our orders. We had to ask her for water three times, searching for her across the room in an attempt to catch her attention. She was a bit absent during the two-ish hours we were there. On the bright side, the drinks were fairly good. I ordered this strawberry vodka cocktail topped with whole mint. I'm wary of vodka for its harsh, unpleasant taste, but I found this drink to actually be very pleasant, tasing like a fruit smoothie you'd get from a local juicer. There was also a burgundy drink served on a wine glass that tasted like the holidays. I liked that one quite a bit. Overall, Oscar Wilde was an okay experience. It's certainly a bar for a certain type of crowd, and the service was lacking, but maybe we went on a bad night. Maybe if you're lucky, you'll be served better than we were.
