First, let me say the shades we had installed by The Shade Store are exactly what we wanted and we are very happy with how well they turned out. It has taken time to get around to this review, as we were pretty unhappy with the issues and lengthy process, considering the cost. Order to final install was 5 months. We ordered the shades during a sale (25% off shades and 50% off installation), without the sale we would not have proceeded. Do we love our shades? Absolutely. The motorized sun shade makes a huge difference in keeping our home cooler and the roller shades are exactly what I wanted. Would we use TSS again? I might have considered going back, when another sale is happening, and choose lower priced shades, but there were just too many issues with this project. Our story: (11/11/2023) Our consult was easy and quick. We picked out what we wanted in no time, had rough costs and proceeded to have our window trim completed. (12/9) TSS came out and did free measurements. (12/12) Bid approved and paid. Install was scheduled. (1/12) At the install it was discovered the shades were too large to install, as ordered on wrong measurements. (1/13) New blinds ordered, install sched. (2/13) At install, motorized sun shade installed, later did not run smoothly. Both roller shades were damaged during shipment. Installer advised this is an issue. We never opened any of the boxes, and recommend leaving that for the installer in case something is damaged. They installed the damaged product, so we could have coverage on the windows and advised new blinds would be ordered in 1-2 days. (2/21) 9 days later I emailed to check on reorder, since we hadn't heard anything and advised the motorized shade was not running smoothly. Replacement roller shades were ordered only after I sent this email (?). (3/19) Replacement shade received, one damaged-installer unable to fix. Installer also worked on the motorized shade, which had issues again after a few uses. Both roller shades were installed and a replacement part was to be ordered for the one that was damaged. (3/25) Received a random email to schedule an install. Assumed it was for the broken piece of the roller shade. (4/12) Installer fixed motorized shade. When he opened the box with the replacement part for the roller shade, it was the wrong part. It wasn't a part for any of the shades we had. (4/15) em TSS reps requesting the correct part be ordered. (4/20) Received email to schedule install, again. (4/30) Installer arrived, we had not received a part and he didn't have it either. (5/3) Installer texted to see if we had any contact from TSS - None. (5/8) I em TSS to find out what was going on. Received quick reply, install scheduled too soon. Part to be shipped to us. (5/21/2024) Installation complete. read more

The sales team could have done a better job of of listening to what I wanted. it took multiple sales contracts before I could finalize and pay. The biggest issue was the scheduling of the blinds. This much money they could call before scheduling and assist with a date that works for the customer. Buy from someone else. read more

My husband and I ordered shades from Jessica and had a fantastic experience. Jessica was super knowledgeable about the products and fabrics, and equally knowledgeable about tiny details related to install. She even caught that our alarm sensors in our window sills would need to be accounted for or moved. We couldn't be more thankful and our shades turned out beautifully. We highly recommend her, as well as the product. We're very happy with the look and function of the electric roller shades, it was well worth the upgrade. After install, we contacted the store about a valance that came dirty as well as a motor on one shade. A technician came out and fixed both within 10 minutes, we're very thankful our concerns weren't dismissed as this makes a huge difference in our overall customer service experience. I would say that my only critique is the business model for getting quotes. It's a little clunky in the sense that there's a delay. It would be really nice if there was an ability to get quote range or estimate on the spot. read more

I am flabbergasted that this store has high reviews. I have purchased 4 motorized shades from them and I cannot count the service calls we have had on them. The latest issue is a motorized shade in the living room had intermittent issues and then finally died in the down position with no recovery option. Called the store and had to leave a message. No response in 2 days, called again and got someone who asked a few questions and then said I would need to talk to service dept. in New York. Bottom line, they set up an appointment 6 weeks out (earliest they had) in a four hour window and shipped a new motor (this will be number 3 in two years). So we have a shade in the down position in out living room for over 6 weeks. The service from this company has just deteriorated! We will never buy from them again and if we have any further issues, I will replace them all. read more

RUN!!! I have no idea how this location has so many good reviews. Our experience has been absolutely miserable and so stressful. Here's the TLDR; we have one large balcony window in our bedroom that needed a black out shade. The guy from SS came out in September, took measurements, and left. My husband told him that we wanted the shades to go from the *top of the wall, all the way down*. A few days later the quote came back, and we signed off on it. No, we didn't measure the length of the shade ourselves - were we supposed to? I mean, I'm not trained by the SS on these things, and I'm assuming the guy they sent was. As customers, we should sign off on the price, not the measurements, right? And, if that's not the expectation, shouldn't they be clear about it? Well, late October a guy came out to install our shade. They were made too short. *Not* from the top of the wall. . . too short, not what we wanted. We were told that the issue would be rectified, and someone would call us. No calls came. We followed up. We were told that the additional material would be $500 extra (on top of the $3,300 we had already paid). Okay. . . well. . . that sucks. We were then told that SS would cover half that amount. So, $250 more. Okay, we were okay with that. Flash forward to early December. We're trying to schedule the install when we get a NEW QUOTE from SS. It informs us that we owe $1900 MORE to get what we want. WHAT??? $1900 more? Why did we go back and forth for a month over $250? Um. . . no thank you, Sir. This is getting crazy. So, we asked for a refund. And, we were told (in store) that one would come within a few days. Okay, great. Well, a couple more days go by, and SS, in an email, says NO REFUND. We have two options - install the TOO SHORT SHADE, or they keep our money. We called them. We quoted their "satisfaction guaranteed" and "we will rectify our mistakes" and "we will work with you" propaganda on their website. It fell on deaf ears. No escalation, no working with us. Take it or leave it. Again, TLDR - The SS is trying to steal $3,300 from us. Based on their mistake. Which they will not rectify. Even though their site says they will. We are totally done with them. The stress, the drama, and the confusion is not worth it. I'd rather have the sun blazing into my eyes each morning than deal with or work with the SS ever again. Had a great experience with Dean at the Shade Store in Walnut Creek. He was very helpful in the showroom - by walking us through all the different options that they have available. Once we narrowed down our selections, we took samples home, set up the measurement appointment, and then once that was complete, the product was shipped to our house and then we set up the install. I wanted a blind I could lower from the top on a very large window. Dean consulted with me, was very knowledgeable about what sort of shade would work and why - also recommended fabric. Was very honest about how different shades might look. Didn't try to upsell me! Of course it was pricier than I'd planned but the quality and ease of installation (installers are employees of the Shade Store!) plus the materials are made in the USA made me feel like I was getting value for my money. The fabric I choose got caught up in supply chain issues but Dean was on top of it and suggested I select another fabric - even sent me swatches. Once I was able to make it in the store we followed up from our phone conversation. I was sent home with several samples to put on my windows to make sure I found the right option. Once I made my decision, I called Hess and he placed the order. Someone was sent to my home for the measurements and once that was complete those measurements were sent off for completion. I can highly recommend The Shade Store in Walnut Creek for their professionalism, quality and selection of product, and fantastic customer service and staff, most especially Hess Rouhafza, who was an absolute joy with whom to work. The selection of textiles was everything I was looking for and Hess helped guide me through the numerous choices of styles and swatches to find the exact right fit for the design of our newly remodeled master bedroom, bathroom, and second master/home office ensuite. Our remodel ended up taking 15 months (don't ask), but Hess was the light at the end of the tunnel. There were a few hiccups like needing to change the color of some chains and a valance that needed to be remade, but I was not the one initiating the corrections. I never once had to ask for anything to be done, Hess and the Shade Store took matters into their own hands and made immediate new orders and a free install to correct the small changes and make everything perfect. I am so impressed. Hess had promised The Shade Store would stand behind their product, and I am here to assure you they will and did!
