We used the Shade Store to create a custom curtain for our large stacked panel windows. We ended up going into the store since we had a little bit of a hard time getting in contact with the original sales person that my husband was in contact with. However, when we went into the store, we received excellent customer service from Julie. From start to finish, Julie was transparent with options, finishes and designs. We let Julie know what style curtains we wanted along with door window treatments. She worked diligently with us in getting the perfect color schemes and curtain design. This is one of the only, if not the only window treatment companies that offer renderings of what the fabrics and treatments look like and their renderings are pretty true to scale. Additionally, after consulting with multiple high end window treatment companies in the Denver-metro area, they are the only one that can do a split track treatment where we can open the curtains and move them all to one side and split them in the center. The timeframe did take about four months since the treatments had to be custom made along with the track and there was one small error with the original track that set us back a few weeks, however, it was all worth the wait. I do not like to say anything negative in general. However, this time it is sadly a must. My experience has been quite awful. They were paid in full but the product delivered in 2025 was very poorly made and installed. For months, I've asked for repair, replacement or a full refund. I was ignored in all kinds of ways. I finally booked a technician on their public calendar. I received a confirmation, followed by an email stating they know there is a problem. The tech actually showed up but now the shades are not even usable. They only roll down half way. If I could give them a review less than one star, I would. I am waiting for a refund approval but have not heard back. A refund is a must in my case. Back to searching for window covering, spending another good deal of time and money! Horrible experience! 8+ years ago we bought shades for our kitchen and children's bedroom from the Cherry Creek, CO location. When we decided to update/redecorate, we went back after an initial positive experience. That is not the case 8 years later. They shipped the wrong product to us so the installer was not able to install the replacement shades for the children's room. After waiting two days, I had not heard anything so I contacted the store and was forced to leave a message. Now, 4 days later, still no contact. I'm on hold with the NY office and I have been the next caller for over 15 minutes. Opps, call to NY just got cutoff as there was "no one available to help me". Going to go to the store in person. The Worst Customer Experience We've Ever Had If we could give zero stars, we would. This has been the worst customer experience imaginable -- marked by non-existent communication, unacceptable delays, subpar product quality, and complete disregard for the customer. 1. Portions of Our Order Were Canceled Without Notification, Credit or RefundWe placed an order for 32 window treatments in June. Immediately after payment, we were informed that 8 were backordered until late October. When we called in late September to check the status, we learned that 4 of the backordered items had been canceled two months earlier without any notification by email or call from our sales representative --- and no refund had been issued. It took another 15 days of follow-up before the credit was finally processed. At that point, we canceled the remaining treatments that were scheduled for October 31 delivery. We were told the credit would be issued promptly. As of today -- 7 weeks later -- we are still waiting. This company has held our money for five months with no product delivered. 2. Extremely Poor Product QualityDo not waste your time or money on their Roman shades. The quality is inconsistent at best, and more accurately would be described as awful and reflects no meaningful quality control. After an in-person home measurement, most of the shades don't fit the windows, are crooked, and are uneven; those that are intended to hang side-by-side are misaligned. The product we received should never have been sold in this condition. Their installer that came out to check if it was an install issue acknowledged the quality was awful. The company's resolution? A 10% refund. 3. Abysmal Customer Service The customer service is a complete black hole.  Employees hide behind layers of red tape, so no one ever takes responsibility. When you visit the showroom, the sales team's only option is to "open a ticket" into some invisible system that goes nowhere. You sit there while they "capture all the information," but nothing changes and you don't hear back.  No one ever picks up the phone, no one shows up, and no one owns the issue. One installer punctured a window screen and failed to report it. Calls get blind-transferred to unmanned voicemails, and when you finally reach someone, they just "open a ticket" for the problem -- which leads to more silence or a half-hearted offer (like 10% off or a remake of already poor-quality shades).  It takes multiple phone calls and emails and a minimum of 7-10 days for anyone from the company to respond, if at all -- whether sales, customer service, or management. We've been patient and reasonable for months, giving this company every opportunity to do the right thing. Not once have they stepped up. That says everything. This company has proven it does not care about its customers, their time, or their money. read more

Our experience with the Cherry Creek showroom and Julie Shull has been a complete nightmare from beginning to end. We had multiple errors and took several months to address. I genuinely believe she does not care about anything other than making a sale. Every installer that came to our residence willingly shared their opinions of her (incompetent and lazy with a major chip on her shoulder, which we experienced to be very accurate). She is quick to sell, slow to respond, and her genuine apathy to follow up and make things right is what should make for a ZERO STAR review. We have ordered from this company many times in the past with no serious issues and the customer service was above average. We reached out to multiple people on every management level with literally no response. This is telling of the company itself with no follow up to any phone calls, emails, or consideration to make things right. Literally NO RESPONSE from higher management as well. It is obvious the poor work ethic starts at the top and progresses its way down the work chain. We had planned to go with window treatments throughout our residence and stopped at four windows. We decided to check out Hunter Douglas and their customer service is impeccable. I can't say enough great things about this company and the service they provide. Go check them out. The options are greater and their "top-down-bottom-up" option is FAR more superior than The Shade Store's flimsy option. The Shade Store is not cheap and I will no longer spend my money on defective items, a salesperson who is literally acts like a child (Julie Shull). Oh and good luck trying to get through to their show room. We called for 5 hours straight on a Sunday (yes, they are open), ended up driving over an hour and all three sales ladies were chatting it up. Really?? I truly wish I could give this store zero stars. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. The customer service is an absolute joke. I have had a broken motorized blind now for months (under warranty since it broke within six months) and cannot get anybody to respond to emails or voicemails. Then I finally got someone to respond and then sent out one technician for a two technician job not once but twice!! I ordered directly through them and they did the install, how has this happened multiple times. Then I get ahold of Austin who says Yadi will call me "within the hour" to get on the schedule. Still no call. I call back multiple times and send emails. I finally get ahold of someone and what do you know theyre on EST and are closed for the night for return calls. Its unacceptable to pay over $6000 for blinds to be treated this way and clearly have no intention of making it right. Also, when the tech came out yesterday, he said the blinds and solar panels were installed wrong and look terrible, I said thats funny b/c your store did this install. read more

They have been to my house to measure at minimum four times and have been here to hang the same shades six or seven times. My experience with them in 2016 (prior home) was excellent so I went to them when I bought a new house earlier this year. They still have nice fabrics, but this time around it's been error after error with delay after delay in resolving them. If they mess up measurements and/or design, then thankfully they'll correct those errors, but that'll be an additional 4 weeks per error...at best, partially because you can't schedule installs until the boxes are at your house, which you better be around for because you have no say on when they ship them to you. Then when an installer gets sick the day before an install that you've waited 4 weeks for? Sorry, the best they can do is send someone in 2 1/2 weeks. Their customer service is astonishingly poor as are their communication skills. It's clear that once they have your money you become their lowest priority. And the amount of product they waste due to mistakes is heartbreaking. read more

Awful customer service. I have been dealing with this store for almost six months now. They came out to measure but the order in. Waited a 6 weeks for the curtain to arrive. Curtain arrived and waited a month or so for an install appointment. The guy installed the rod and curtain the curtain was dragging on the floor. He also dropped a tool and damaged my new hardwood floor. We told him that we did not like the curtains dragging on the floor and he took them down. He said the repair would be expedited. We waited over 6 weeks again. The box has arrived, and I now I have to wait over a month to get them to come out and install them. PATHETIC!! Expensive and poor customer service. read more

I purchased a very expensive set of motorized roller shades from the Shade Store. It cost me $17,644. After a period of about 1 year almost 50% of the shades in my house are no longer functional which is completely unacceptable. They have suggested that the motors have failed and need to be replaced. The quality of their product is horrifically bad. The Shade Store refuses to respond to virtually any communications I have sent pleading with them to please come out and fix the shades. I have called and emailed more times than I can remember and they will not call me back. The shades have not been functional since March 2024. It is now July 2024 and the Shade Store has still not come out to fix the shades nor have they even provided a workable date in which they expect to fix the shades. Just no helpful response. Once they get paid they vanish despite their supposed "limited lifetime warranty". The warranty they provide is false advertising. I rent my house and I have had tenants ask me for refunds (which I have provided) because the shades are not operative. It has cost me thousands more dollars in direct and indirect damages. PLEASE do NOT purchase products from this vendor. I have no confidence in the quality of their products and even less confidence in their so called "customer service" or lack thereof. read more

I had roller shades installed recently and I'm in love!! They are black out rollers and pretty spot on measurements. Less than an inch gap letting minimum light into my house when need be. The associates also were very kind and courteous. I had several swatches sent for free and measuring was also done free of charge. I had a couple other quotes that were cheaper with fewer options but decided on the shade store and can't say I'm disappointed. read more

Update 3/20/18: This company stands by its products. The shades are beautiful and well worth the money. They fit perfectly. A few of the shades' strings frayed and came apart after 3 years. They took them ALL back, restrung with new strings. They had a team come to first take the old ones, pack, ship; then when the new ones arrived, the team came again, unpacked, and re-installed. All at no cost to me. I'm thrilled with this level of service and attention. Add to that the quality and aesthetic beauty of these shades, and you can't go wrong! I became a victim of Julie. The most terrible service I got from her. First, She quoted me with a price and we were agreed on. She sent someone for measuring the place and $100 was going to be credited for measuring if I would place the order which I did but $100 was charged. Second, the order arrived 1 month later than what was giving as timeline. I had wait and wait. She never followed up. A month later she emailed and asked more money. I asked why? She explained that the kitchen one can't be done in one piece because of the low voltage. I said: Well you were aware of it and why couldn't you figure that out from the first time. When we built a new home we selected The Shade Store on the recommendation of our decorator. In the beginning TSS was on the scene, doing what they should do...measuring, making recommendations as to fabric and color, etc. The installation of some of the shades went well, but some shades, as well as curtains, did not. It has taken us nearly a year and all issues are still not resolved. They have made multiple mistakes on the same windows/curtains. I learned of the Shade Store thru Room and Bosrd furniture. I wanted something contemporary to go with our furnishings. I called to ask some questions before going to the showroom in Denver. I spoke with Tessa, who spent a lot of time talking with me about my windows that aren't very deep and some ideas I could think about as a solution. She offered for me to send her photos as well. I went to the showroom and was impressed with the size of the samples of the fabric, big and useful, Tessa was great to work with. We decided to have Coates Instsllatuons who they use come out to measure since we had som tricky Windows. Wayne ( who owns the company with his wife ) was great. Arrived when he said he would and is very polite. He did all of the measurements and sent to Tessa right away. Tessa placed the quote for is right away and our blinds were done within the time period they estimated and arrived sooner than estimated thru Fed Ex. I called Coates Installations and Candace was able to accommodate an earlier arrival with an earlier install date. Wayne was back to do our install and did a great job. The blinds quality was that I saw in the showroom and they function great. We were so impressed we ordered more for other Windows. Tessa is so helpful and creative she really helped us make a good choice for our needs.
