Please please please let this review stop you from making the outrageously expensive mistake I have made in choosing to work with this company. Quotes: I got three quotes. Rocky Mountain was the most expensive by 33%. I went with them because they had more fabric options, and the product seemed to be of superior quality. Design Process: Required 4 home visits and 2 show room visits. What we clearly and explicitly agreed upon was not contracted (my bad) and when the wrong product got installed, the designer and manager gaslit me to believe that what we clearly and explicitly agreed to was not agreed upon. Installation: Took 6.5 weeks from signed contract. The installers were fine, but I heard them whispering in the bedroom and checked in - the shades were not the right size. They continued installing them (as they had already taken the previous privacy shades down) so that we would have privacy in our bedroom. I later received another call from the designer that, in fact, those shades would need to be sent back, recut, and rehung. We could have paper shades in the mean time. Their mistake will require an additional 2 trips into my home, countless hours interacting with the company, and they will not compensate me at all. Additionally, the roman shades we purchased for a theatre room were ungodly expensive - I went ahead because I loved the potential and assumed that I would get what I paid for. You would not believe how terrible these look - crooked, caddy-wompus in the corner, and letting in so much light you would think that was the goal. I would have better luck spending $200 at Target or $500 at Anthropologie. read more

I unfortunately would not recommend either Rocky Mountain Shutters or Hunter Douglas based on the endless amount of issues we experienced. We bought a fixer upper last July and had to complete the shutters in phases. The first round the shutters took close to 7 weeks and they were only delivered after I followed up multiple times. One panel arrived damaged so that replacement piece took literally another 6-7 weeks and I had no correspondence unless I was following up with them. Needless to say, we "fell through the cracks" and Hunter Douglas fully admitted to this. Phase two with the next set of windows arrived much quicker 2-3 weeks and were installed without any issues so I thought we were in the clear. When I had RM Shutters come out to do the final bid they forgot to send the quotes or the samples for the roman shades we were looking into doing. After a week or two I had to follow up with our sales rep to get the quotes and ask about the samples. Again, we fell through the cracks. They told me probably 3 days in a row that the samples were then on their way, which they weren't. When we finally received them, they weren't even close to the samples I had picked out. RM Shutters blamed this on Hunter Douglas. Lots of disconnects and miscommunication between the two companies which made this very frustrating. We won't be using them for the final phase of our remodel and I would not recommend either company. With this big of an investment in a home you should work with a company that doesn't allow you to fall through the cracks. read more

Rocky Mountain Shutters & Shades offers HunterDouglas shades, which are a premium product at a premium price point. Our mistake was expecting a premium installation experience. My wife and I recently purchased a brand new home and needed shades for almost every window in it. Our realtor recommended Rocky Mountain Shutters & Shades and we had an excellent experience with our designer Briana and ended up placing an order for 16 roller shades. The day of installation was where the problems started. As my wife and I both work, my dad came over to keep an eye on the installation and texted us updates throughout the day. The installer didn't have all of the supplies he needed (he asked my dad if we had a Sharpie in the house). My dad let us know that the installer seemed to be struggling - he could hear him cursing repeatedly, as if he was having trouble with the installation. As it turned out, one of our shades was incorrectly manufactured. He made unnecessary holes/indentations on one of our doors in his attempt to install it. Additionally, the installer was not careful and scraped off the paint at the top of several our windows (where the roller for the blinds were installed) - see the attached picture for an example. And, after spending more than an entire business day at our home, he failed to clean up after himself - leaving drywall crumbles around each of the windows he had worked on, as well as some additional screws on the windowsills. A few days later, I stayed home from work so that another representative from RMS&S could come to survey the damage and clean up the mess their installer had left behind. She placed an order for the incorrectly manufactured shade, as well as a cover for the roller part of an additional blind, which was warped. A month after that visit, my wife stayed home from work to oversee a different installer as he installed the re-manufactured shade and touched up the paint on the windows that were damaged during the initial installation. After walking through the house to check the work, my wife noticed there was a mess by the window where he had installed the re-manufactured shade. Only after my wife asked if it was standard procedure to clean up after installation did he go to his vehicle to get his vacuum to clean up the mess. While we're ultimately happy with the way that our shades look, we were charged more than $600 for a "professional" installation that took three visits to complete. The end product is great, but there are probably additional options in Denver for HunterDouglas blinds - hopefully with more professional installers who do the job correctly the first time and clean up after themselves. read more

The salesperson was very friendly and was able to suggest a shutter that matched the original shutters. They arrived in a few weeks and the installation was quick. We worked with Rocky Mountain/Park Meadows. Absolutely no complaint with Hunter Douglas. Robert, our installer was great......on time and a real expert. Our sales rep was very green. Her communication was less than par including her written communication. She was very unorganized. One day she showed up two hours early for an appointment. If we hadn't been home that would have created yet another delay. We had an appointment....Per email from her....for a final measure on a Tuesday. When she arrived she said " Oh this isn't the final measure....I came to collect payment and then the final measure will take place within the next ten days". She walked out the door with $5000 and no appointment was set for the final measure! I wasn't home for that visit, my husband was. Deep down I knew it would be fine because we had a signed contract......just felt ill at ease to give money and have nothing. She was a nice person for sure.....just very green in the industry......seemed preoccupied with her personal life and even forgot/left her "work" iPad at our house..... We added some additional windows at a later date....another chunk of money. As she was working up the order on her iPad, at our kitchen table, she realized she was adding our new order to a previous customers account! She giggled like it was no big deal and started over with the order on our account. Needless to say I reviewed the order with a fine toothed comb. Confidence level ....big fat zero.
