[See update at bottom of review] My initial experience with the Shade Store in Danville was positive and professional. I arranged an appointment time for the in store consultation and the original employee I met with was very helpful in assisting me to choose the best fabrics and style for my windows. She followed up a couple days later with the price quote and worked closely with me as we moved toward the installation date. Unfortunately at some point she either left the company or went to work at another Shade Store. On the date of installation all the window treatments were installed however the battery operated Roman shades were defective so another appointment was scheduled to install a replacement. At the same time it was noted that the employee who originally did all the in home measurements had made an error so that one of the curtain rods was too long. In scheduling via email for a new installation date I noted that the curtain rod needed to be shortened and an end cap added. I was assured this would happen. On the second appointment the replacement Roman shade was installed and the last treatment for a high window in my bathroom was added however the pull chain that came with it was so short I had difficulty reaching it. In addition this installer knew nothing about shortening the curtain rod nor did he have the end cap. Again, I contacted the Shade Store and very clearly stated the need for an end cap, a longer chain, and to schedule another appointment for those last remaining tasks to be completed. I was assured the needed equipment would be added to the order. With a fourth and I believed final date for installation set I waited for the two pieces to be delivered to me in advance of the appointment date. When they didn't arrive I assumed the installer would have them with him due to assurances I had received about the pieces being on the order. Well, this morning he arrives empty handed and so once again I've contacted the Shade Store to explain the problem and ask it be resolved asap. We are now at 4 appointments with I hope to heaven will be 1 final appointment to complete the job. UPDATE: After posting this review with the original 2 stars I contacted Tami who had replied from the Shade Store within minutes of my review being posted. Within less than a couple hours the missing parts had been ordered and a new install date set. Her email communication was thoughtful and understanding. As I write this their installer is up in our bathroom finishing up the work. He arrived at the top of the estimated arrival time (always a plus) and is as friendly as the other 2 installers who had come previously. I don't expect a company to be perfect but when it's a miss what redeems the experience is acknowledging the customers frustration without becoming defensive, and then taking immediate steps to rectify the problem and that's exactly what the Shade Store did in my situation which is why I upgraded my rating to 4 stars. We recently remodeled our master bath & bedroom, as well as replaced some old shades in our kid's rooms. Each room had its own set of challenges, from street facing to afternoon sun, to privacy needs things that we might not have thought of on our own. We could not be more pleased than with the service and style recommendations provided by Mitra from the Danville Shade Store. Not only does she have an eye for detail and incredible sense of style, but she is also able to listen and then based on our needs she made excellent recommendations within our price range. She presented us with numerous options, reviewed all the details carefully and followed-up to ensure that everything from beginning to end was completed to our satisfaction. As we neared our shade installation date, our remodel was delayed and that was no problem - it was handled beautifully and split into two install dates. They claim to have great customer service, but it's probably the worst that I can recall encountering. I admit I should've probably stopped working with them when it took so long just to get my order correct the woman who works in their office in Danville is terrible. I can't tell you how many emails I had to exchange with her and I know that I was very explicit about what we wanted . They send the material to your house but they don't tell you that. The installer showed up. We didn't even have the material because we didn't know we were expecting it and it turns out it never shipped, but no one bothered to tell us that. So we moved all the furniture out of the way for the installer only to have to move it all back and wait for another several weeks. Once everything was installed, it was not installed correctly. Few of the windows were not centered. One of the rollers was damaged which only I noticed a couple of days later and one of the valances was ordered incorrectly. Then we proceeded to wait two months to get new material and have a new appointment. All in this, I'm the one reaching out, I'm the one questioning. I'm the one emailing and nobody is reaching out to me. They have the worst customer service and I paid $1300 for installation. That's a joke The guy was at my house for an hour and a half tops. I would never ever recommend this company. Don't be fooled this is some kind of elite service or company they do not even come to your home except the installer. I give it one star because I like the material. By the way, there's a few windows that still are not centered, but I just give up I'm done the only thing that would make it better is to at least be refunded the install fee, which was outrageous and I should've never agreed to. read more

Had the worst experience with this store, customer service and management. It's too long of a story for details but I want others to be warned before you spend your hard earned money on draperies from them. I spent a lot on custom draperies only to be disappointed. The quality of my fabric choice (extra designer) was lovely, however had to remake them 3 times and they still don't hang right. They drilled holes in my brand new smooth walls 4 times before they got them level. The draperies do not lay smooth and do not close well. After numerous attempts to go up the ladder for a resolution, I was met with many empty promises. I gave up after 9 months for my own sanity. I took many days off work for appointments to resolve the problems and no one cared, even when they came unprepared for the job and had to reschedule. The only thing they could get right was a simple roller shade for another room. Major internal communication issues with The Shade Store. Never again. read more

I would highly caution against using this company for any type of drapery. Their customer service, attention to detail and unwillingness to fix the issues at hand were a real problem. For the price, I would expect excellent customer service and I was given nothing by Kamala at the store. She was more than willing to take my money and get the sale, but beyond that she was useless! We had issues with the installer coming and the material wasn't on site, to the installer not having enough time to hang the drapery, to the drapery being installed and it was six inches too short. Then when we went to reorder, and the fabric was backordered so far out that I had to start all over. I was EXTREMELY patient, dealing with numerous other people in other locations. Clearly their company is not streamlined to handle issues, as well as Kamala saying there was nothing she could do. Steer clear of this company for sure! read more

Going to make this the cliff notes review short and sweet because Yelp has a limit on how much you can post. 1. Most of my windows were measured incorrectly 2. Curtain panels in master bedroom we're a complete joke I do not believe that someone measured so badly snd their curtain tracks are so bad 3. All shades were supposed to be the same color way except for daughters room well that didn't happen 4. One of the shades in our guest rooms is so badly damaged I cannot put down Communicated all this to sales consultant on 6/24 day of installation via email. Got a very generic I am so sorry e-mail never even received a call. I had said to her from the start of this project please do not send me someone that does not know how to measure windows. This order was large I have 44 windows and also French doors in my home. The only reason they got 2 stars instead of 1'is because the installation team was amazing. I have now followed up vie email with design consultant Kamala 4 times and have yet to receive any update on incorrect items. If she had come back with an ABC this is what we are going to do for you this review would not be happening. Yes at this point I am pissed and have every right to be. I have a feeling I am getting the runaround from these folks. Which seems to be the norm based on some of the reviews I have read. I thought I was getting a professional company but right now I don't know. I will be contacting their main office and see what can be done to salvage the bad taste in my mouth. This review is long overdue but hopefully it can save someone else from having a poor experience. I was a returning customer to the shade store and let's just say my first experience was just ok. Although the service wasn't the best I decided to give the store another try because I do like the products. Kamala Peterson was my sales associate . She was helpful and responsive when trying to get the sale, but after that everything went downhill. She failed to respond to emails and provide updates on delays. I had to send several emails and call the store to get updates. I know things happen and products can get delayed, but for the amount of money I paid and being a returning customer you would think she would have at least sent a curtesy email. Alex Esquivia, the client experience manager, was just as bad with communication and lacked good customer service. I'm fine with being patient as I know things happen, but the overall lack of communication throughout the whole process was completely unprofessional. Although I like the Shade Store's products, I would never work with this group again or recommend this specific location. read more

I highly recommend The Shade Store. I just wandered in the Danville store to check out the latest in window shades as I was in the market for new window treatments in my kitchen. Less than two months later I'm a happily satisfied customer with beautiful new Roman shades in my kitchen. Kamala was very helpful, answered all of my questions, provided samples to take home, and did not pressure me in any way. All of this occurred in the midst of the Holidays...I placed my order a day before Thanksgiving and my shades were hung professionally on January 3rd. Great experience from first showroom visit through installation. Made several trips to make sure I was picking the right fabric and Katie was helpful every time. Once I saw that the solar charger would be visible, the installer let me switch out for the rechargeable option the day of the installation, which was a better fit for me and saved me money. Katie was very knowledgeable about all the products they sell and was willing to spend as much time as needed to help me with my selection. The showroom is spacious and beautiful and you're able to take home as many samples as you want right on the spot- no need to wait to get them. A technician came to measure all the windows and doors and did a great job with that because everything they installed was a perfect fit.
