I took my daughter's special teddy bear to The Sewing Room get his foot repaired. The lady who talked to us when we dropped the bear off was so kind and reassured my daughter that she would take great care of him. She said it would take a week to get him back but surprised us with a call the next day to let us know he was ready to go home! She told me that she knew my daughter would miss him so she took care of him sooner. The work she did was amazing and my daughter and I are so happy. I would recommend this place over and over. Hands down would recommend this place to any soon-to-be-bride! I knew I found my perfect dress - it just didn't look so at first try-on at the dress boutique. I'm 5'2" and built like a twig with no curves to fill in any of the needed areas. But the Sewing Room bippity-boppity-booped my dream dress to life. The ladies up front here listen to you and will make suggestions - but there is no pressure to do anything unless you want to. And the seamstress behind-the-scenes, well, she's just the best around. Every cost was upfront and very reasonable compared to the local competition. They got my dress done early and even when I was satisfied with its look, if they found something that needed to be worked on, they would fix it. I needed a place to take my wedding gown to be altered as the shop I bought it from was way out of my budget. I dread going to get alterations, because it always seems to be a pain in the butt for me. I can't seem to find one that I like, and have been putting off this task for months because of this. I really only needed two pairs of pants hemmed, but I finally got the motivation to do something about it. I scrolled through Yelp for ages trying to find a place, and this business kept coming up. It seems to get amazing reviews so I messaged the business. What I loved was that I didn't need to make an appointment. I love this! I showed up saturday and I was there right at opening. I was literally the first person there. I guess they do bridal fittings before 10 am when they open, so they were wrapping up a bridal alteration when I arrived. I went into the changing room and a very nice gal helped me with my two pairs of pants. One of them was a pair of jeans, and she gave me two options about hems. One was traditional, and the other was to match the bottom where it didn't look like it had been hemmed. It was only a few dollars more, so I upgraded and got the matching worn look. I showed up this saturday and the place was jamming! Clearly, everyone and their mother goes here, and it was so busy. Fortunately, I was waited on quickly, and was able to get my pants in no time. They offered me the chance to try the pants on, but I was in a hurry and said no. Overall, they made this a really positive experience and I feel better having come here. As a side note, go right when they on Saturdays, as no one is there and it goes a lot quicker. read more

I needed my dress taken in with a time restraint of 3 days, during prom season. They charged me a rush fee which I was more than willing to pay $$$.. however it was only $5!! They treated me great when I first showed up, they knew I was cost conscious and we discussed price. But showing back up the second time she gave all her attention to a bride that was willing to spend more, and they cheapened the experience for me. I needed it taken out more than they took it out to begin with and they were going to charge me again. Which didn't make much sense to me. I was on a time constraint but overall just felt like I deserved a little more attention. And by no means was I expecting anything to be done for free. I think if you're spending a lot of money on your wedding, and you are free to spend whatever you can, go here. Or if you are the only one coming in on a slow morning before they open, go here. They were very willing to work with me that first day, and they found avenues to cut cost. I'm just very disappointed about my second time in. read more

Update: went to pick up my dress they overcharged the hem job for and there was a large stain on it. Had to sit for at least twenty minutes while one girl tried to get it out, arguing w her coworkers and asking for help while none of them paid her any mind. Won't be returning. read more

From shortening straps on a shirt, to taking on pants and even hemming a bridesmaids dress. This place and do it all, in a short amount of time, with a smile and most importantly the correct way! I went to the Sewing Room back in July after hearing about the outrageous cost I would incur if I let the bridal salon do the alterations to my wedding gown. I worked closely with the owner, Kelly, to discuss the way my dress fit versus the way it should fit. Let's just say the bridal salon wanted to alter the corset top, which in fact just needed to be tied tighter. The salon also wanted to do alterations to the bottom of the dress, but within less than five minutes of looking at my dress while it was on me, Kelly speculated that the liner was sewn too tight and wanted to let that out first before really cutting into the exterior of the dress. When I went back for the second fitting (after they simply let the liner out), the dress fit like a glove! The only thing required from that point was the bustle! And the cost to do all of this? Less than $100! I took two of my bridesmaids there to have major work done on their dresses. One had a dress 2 sizes too big and was quoted over $150 by an uncertain seamstress, and the other had a dress 2 sizes too small and was quoted the same amount by another uncertain seamstress. Kelly and her staff worked miracles and made these dresses fit like gloves for very reasonable amounts (both under $100)! My girls looked beautiful and they were both very comfortable! My mother had a dress for the wedding that needed some repairs and she had Kelly and her staff do these repairs as well. The dress required a new zipper, which was put on and looked like it was the original. My mother-in-law found a dress for the wedding that had a sleeveless top with a sheer jacket, which she wanted cut up and attach to the actual top of the dress. She went to Kelly with an idea of what she wanted the end result to be, but the reality was that her idea wasn't really practical due to the material and what the end result would truly look like. Kelly made some suggestions based on the material, the look of the dress, and her professional experience. My mother-in-law has been going to The Sewing Room (under its previous name) for over 15 years. She trusted Kelly to do her best and the dress came out beautiful as ever! It was such a good match to what my mother-in-law envisioned and it worked really well with the style and material of the dress. I can't say enough good about Kelly, her staff, the store itself (it's really cute and clean), and just the overall service we all received. I can confidently speak for myself, my two bridesmaids, my mother and my mother-in-law when I say this business knows their industry extremely well and it truly trustworthy. Kelly will be upfront with what she is capable of doing as well as has a keen eye for seems, fabric, and fits. I can not wait to take more items to her! Btw, my wedding dress was the second dress I took to her after she did such a wonderful job on a dress I took to her earlier in the summer. read more

They will shorten the jeans and re-attach the original hem so they don't look weird. The owner called it the "tricky hem". Don't forget to wash and dry your pants before coming in. It's actually called The Sewing Room now as Monika is no longer there. The owner is a wonderfully pleasant lady who takes the time to chat while she measures. This is not one of those "what's your inseam" type places. This is the real deal, old world craftsmanship style tailoring. The ladies have you try EVERYTHING on and pin your clothes right there around your body for a perfect fit. Their work is on the higher side of average but well worth every penny. I am just shy of being classified as a dwarf and, consequently, must alter every pair of pants, skirt, suit, etc... that I buy. Over the years I've been to many tailors and I have to say this is the only place I will patronize now. You just can't put a price on knowing your clothing will be altered perfectly in a few days. They do have weird hours but the shoe repair shop next door (also highly recommended-$9 to reheel boots!) stays open later and you can prepay and pick your items up there. read more

First let me say I dont know much about sewing or alterations. However my son tells me 5 days before a game that his baseball pants are way to big. Took them to the sewing room based upon some positive Yelp reviews. I was told I would get them back in 3 days for a reasonable rate. Perfect. They called 2 days later and had them ready. My first encounter with this business was over the phone. Jessica acted and sounded like she wanted my business and I could tell it was busy when I called. She was so friendly and welcoming. When I took my dress in, they were very consultative. I explained the dress was for my son's wedding. They listened to what I wanted and discussed step by step what to expect. My dress has layers, beading, and a scalloped hem, which is not an easy sewing task. They raised the hem and the bodice to match what I wanted. They were so very different from the alterations department at the fancy store where I bought my dress. They really care about the quality of their work. Jessica even helped me choose shoes! I told them they should change the name of the store to the "dress doctor" because they can heal your alterations woes. It doesn't hurt that they are reasonably priced! I could go on and on.
