Downtown Rochester

On March 1st, the price of the dresses that I had purchased (in an order that had not yet been…read moreplaced with the designer) dropped drastically. When I called to finalize the order on March 2, 2023, the same staff that had reassured me multiple times that we could wait on the flower girls' dresses notified me that the flower girls' dresses would take just as long to come into the office as the bridesmaids dresses and if I had any expectation of them being the same color, they would all need to be ordered together. As a result, I had to rush to get the flower girls' into the office the very next day for measurements. The flower girls get fitted, we pay for their dresses, and we leave the store. I called the store after we left to inquire about a price adjustment due to the drastic decrease in the base price of the dress per the designers website. This is before the order was actually placed with the designer. They declined to make the price adjustment. The store hours were 12p-4p. At 10:30p (drastically outside of their posted business hours), I get an e-mail from the owner, saying that the order has been placed and the expected ship date is early June (nowhere near being in any danger of default for a September wedding). Additionally, they are essentially showing a three-month production period and if I had ordered direct from the designer's website, they show an estimated production period of six (6) weeks. I e-mail back immediately regarding the price adjustment and received no immediate answer. The contract that we signed for the dresses said that they were non-refundable after the order had been placed with the designer, so the fact that they rushed to place the order outside of normal business hours after I inquired about a price adjustment is no surprise. The next day, I called the shop and requested a call back from the owner, which I never received. She e-mailed me back much later in the day, refusing the price adjustment. I e-mailed her back thoroughly explaining that all of this appeared to be intentional and appeared to be quite dishonest. She e-mailed me back in great detail, essentially explaining that it's the customers responsibility to protect themselves in commercial transactions and their store otherwise has the right to mistreat them. Her message was that if the customer doesn't attempt to price match at the point of sale, they're not entitled to any price adjustments, which is absolutely ridiculous and not standard practice for any retailer I've ever frequented before. Long story short, it would appear that they knew about the price adjustments scheduled to take place at the end of February. They intentionally railroaded us into paying much higher prices for the same dresses, even going so far as to potentially lie to us about the flower girls' dresses not needing to be ordered soon in an attempt to get us to place the whole order by the end of February. Once the calendar changed to March 1, 2023, everything that they had been telling us about the flower girls' dresses changed. They refused the price adjustment and rushed to place the order outside of normal business hours so that it was no longer cancellable per their policy. Using this store will cost you, literally. It cost us an estimated $470.00 in the base price of the dresses, plus an additional approx. $120 in service charges that they tacked onto the price of the dresses. Grand Total: An approximate $590.00 loss. I had one dress for the bridesmaids and a different dress for the Maid and Matron of honor. On March 1, 2023, the price of the bridesmaids' dresses decreased $85/dress on four (4) dresses and the price for the Maid/Matron Honor dress decreased $64/dress on two (2) dresses. Additionally, they add a service charge to the price of each dress, which is not mentioned anywhere in their contracts. The flower girls' dresses were $124.50 per the designer's website. Plus a 6% sales tax, the total amount would have been $131.97 and I was charged approximately $146 ($145 + change) for the dress. They're adding an additional (approx.) 10% service fee charge to the cost of each dress. Their business model, staff, and owner all appear to be extraordinarily dishonest. Why not charge an appointment fee for the consultation instead of baking additional 10% service charge into the costs of already wildly overpriced dresses? The more honest business practice would be to charge $15/person for those in attendance at the fitting and price match the dresses to the designer's website. When I e-mailed the owner explaining all of this, she e-mailed me back with blatant falsehoods (lies) that she claims her staff told her about the situation. I picked up all the dresses for my bridesmaids, and despite the situation outlined above, the attendant who helped us for all our fitting appointments (and there were multiple due to the circumstances) pretended not to know who I was. They gave us the merchandise, and my name was spelled incorrectly.

Extremely disappointed. If I could give this place negative stars I would. We were about 5 minutes…read moreearly to our appointment and still since the moment we walked in, we were being rushed. The women helping us actually was running around the store grabbing dresses and trying to rush us to try them one and get out. All of the women were rude and did not seem to want to give us the time of day. Also, it had to be somewhere at least 80 degrees in there and we were all sweating, there was no air conditioning and they did not say anything or offer us a bottle of water. Nothing. Save yourself time and energy, and go elsewhere! I should have listened to prior reviews before coming here.

I was desperate to find a place I could drop off a black suit to be ready for a family funeral. The…read morefuneral would require some unalterable travel, therefore, an exact time existed for which it had to be ready on an upcoming Monday. It was already later on a Saturday afternoon in July 2020 when the virus was rising and affecting businesses differently, making it essential to make real, old-fashioned phone calls. It was my only option, other than driving around everywhere, or depending on oft-erroneous times posted online, to suss out hours of operation during this devastating time. I called four other dry cleaning establishments in the Rochester Hills area before I landed at this GEM of a business. That Saturday, I walked in the Martinizing location, not calling the fifth establishment of the day, because I happened to be running errands right near the place. They had an "open" sign, clearly visible. The woman who greeted me, and I will return to find out her name, made me feel calm and relaxed and cared about. I have no idea how she did it, because I gave her little information to go on, but she took the facts I did give her and from that, made me feel warm. That's the most important part of this, besides that the place was COVID-19 regulation complaint. It was a pleasant surprise after having researched four other places for dry cleaning that afternoon, that they were the first to have regular Sunday hours. Additionally, they were open until 7PM Monday, which was helpful and accommodating to my schedule. The man who assisted me at pick up had a similar professionalism that the woman possessed, and adjusted to my level of friendliness and talkative, or not-so-talkative, nature and moods. Impeccable manners. I noticed and appreciated this. The reason I am writing this review though, and investing my time and energy to do this as a single mom of two teenagers, is because the woman with whom I dropped the suit off on Saturday, responded to my situation with the funeral when I brought up COVID-19, and she opened up with information about losses that other local business people nearby had experienced. She was sensitive to my situation, and simultaneously, not overly emotional. She was genuine and cared about the community in general and the business community around her. Nothing about the exchange was political. She was a good human being. It showed. She had restraint and when I opened up, she did just enough. It shined because she had a heart for this community. I hope she sees this because it's wonderful to have renewed faith in humankind when you come across genuine caring, not just some social media like or dopamine hit off a heart icon. The dry cleaning was perfect. I wish I had photos, but it was for a funeral and so it wasn't that kind of an event. I will exclusively maintain my dry cleaning at this location in Rochester Hills.

(primarily because I needed them, so that was a motivating factor.) I was recommended to try this place out from my local dry cleaners, and boy, was this a great recommendation! For starters, they have really awesome hours. Their open Monday through Friday 10 am until 7 PM, and Saturdays from 10-6. They also don't require an appointment, which I loved! I was able to swing in here on my way home from work which was easy and convenient. It's located inside the Vince and Joe's shopping center next to Hamlin Pub, so it's relatively easy to find. Walking in, the lobby area is wonderfully decorated and clean. One of the nicest lobbies I think I've ever seen for a tailor/seamstress shop. There were two girls working here and both seemed to know what they were doing One of them had my try my pants on and she made the necessary adjustments to make my pants fit correctly. Surprisingly, they only needed a few days to get my pants done. I dropped them off on a Friday night and I got a text Monday morning saying they were ready? that's a quick turn around. Their prices are competitive, and it's $14 a pair for hemming. Since I had two pair, that's $28. Not to shabby. The other places were charging $15, and some even quoted me up to $20 a pair of pants? UM NO. Overall I was really impressed with the service and overall experience here. While its not close to home, it's easy to find, has great hours and they do good work for alterations. Also, the gal waiting on me said that they were under new ownership. I don't know how long ago that happened, but that's good to know. The reason I found out was because when I checked in here on Yelp, there was a 20% off coupon for first time check ins. She was confused about it and told me the check in was probably from the previous owners. I really loved my time here and their a good place. Will be returning in the future.
