I formerly took all of my items here and referred numerous friends and coworkers. I took a formal gown to be altered for a wedding. I picked up the dress and it was taken in so much that the dress no longer fit me. I then asked them to take it out and they ruined the dress entirely. I was told that the area "wouldn't pill or rip anymore" and that it was "under the arms" so it didn't matter. They took a gorgeous new dress and completely destroyed it. They get the job done. My pants were hemmed and done perfectly. The gal who checked me in was a little curt and did not leave me with much confidence after she'd pinned the hem. On pick up, the person who brought me my pants had an inkling of customer service. My sense is that they are all busy. So the attitude is the NY pay and get the hell out of here. Haha. Service: Uniform tailoring This company is the worst place I have ever been to for military families. They told me $40 for sewing on patches which I signed for at the drop off. When I came in for pick up they told me that they called my husband and changed the price to $62 because it was more work then they thought it would be. So I called my husband and they never told him that. The lady I dealt with was so rude saying they didn't need our business anyway. The fact that they lied and changed the price was crazy to me. The thing that was the most shocking was that when I dropped off and picked up both people I talked to were so rude and short with me. This would be a great business to put out of business. I bought a pretty expensive comforter from Macy's that ended up falling apart after washing it. I love it so much I thought to turn it into a duvet cover. Staff was not friendly or welcoming at all when I walked in to get my zip up. On top of that, I paid 2x to have the zipper fixed then I did for the actual sweater which I would've been ok doing if the quality of the zipper was worth what I paid for. really poor service. I dropped pants off to be altered two weeks ago, a simple hem and they assured me they'd have them done by the 11th and would give me a call when I could pick them up as I needed them the 12th. We'll no call, no one answered the phones. So I came into the store (which has posted outside it is open 9-2pm for saturdays) and no one is there. Really disappointed in the customer service as now I'm scrambling to find a replacement. will not be using them again as they are unorganized and irresponsible. The place was a little hard to find at first, so be on the lookout as this is a small shop running out of the back side of an otherwise normal-looking residence. My first (and only, so far) encounter stemmed from my need to get a blown out seam on a leather jacket repaired. When I walked in on a Wednesday (or Thursday maybe) afternoon, I was promptly greeted and the jacket was inspected, and I was quoted a VERY reasonable price for the seam repair. She was very obliging regarding my 2-day turnaround request as well. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is because I got the call that the jacket was ready on Friday, but upon arrival, it was determined that no work had actually been done. So, one unnecessary trip in, but the jacket was ready the next day and I highly commend the seamstress who worked on it. I would be happy to give them my business again for future alteration/sewing work. read more

Great! This was my first time getting anything altered here in Fort Collins, and I'm so happy I chose The Sewing Room. The staff was friendly and helpful and helped me determine the most cost effective choice. They give you options for hemming dresses so that you don't have to go with the most labor intensive/expensive option. We also got pant legs hemmed which were $8 per leg. I spent under $200 to hem 3 pairs of pants, two dresses, and take in one of the dresses. The sewing room was able to get my bridesmaid dress fixed up within a week before the wedding. Only $10 for express tailoring and the dress was done somewhat how I wanted. Unfortunately, there were a lot of extra thread hanging about where they stitched it and I had to go home and dissect some other unexplained stitches that were seemingly placed randomly. Overall the dress was how I wanted it to be but it just seemed a little unfinished of sorts. I will most likely be going here again but I'll be paying closer attention to the result before I leave. Great place for alterations! I don't get this type of work done often, but this spot had good reviews, so I gave it a shot. Such a small little operation, but they seem to be very busy. They are working out of a small house near the corner of Swallow and Mathews. When we walked in, they seemed to be super busy and were helping another customer. I had three pair of pants that needed to be hemmed and they offered a changing room to put them and take measurements. It seems that it costs $15 for each alteration made and they asked for payment up front. They initially asked for two weeks to do the work, but accommodated an earlier date and then called even before then to let me know the pants were ready. The work was done sew well (I'm clever) on two of the pants. The third pair had some stitching that didn't look as neat as I would expect for a professional service. It wasn't bad, but I might try another place next time before coming back. read more

I came in to get my favorite work jeans patched up. They said it was no problem, even though the holes were rather big and said it would cost $20 (pricey but worth it if they do a good job). I paid for it when I dropped the jeans off and they told me it would be about 2+ weeks because it's prom season (totally forgot). Four days later they called to say my jeans were ready, which really surprised me. When I dropped it off, the lady said they would choose thread that matched the color of the jeans as best as possible, but it's much darker than my jeans. It's in an area that doesn't really get seen (between the thighs), so it's not a huge deal. I feel like they did a really great job though! Let me tell you about the magic that takes place in this little house. First, I have been coming here on occasion for years however my most recent experience prompted me to put pen to paper (so to speak). My son was getting married on a Saturday and on Wednesday I realized that my dress was going to be uncomfortable around the arms. I called and they told me to come in at noon. I thought that perhaps a seam could be let out enough to help a little but Ruby took one look and explained what she needed to do and it was not as simple as I thought. Much to my disbelief she promised it by Friday. My dress was actually ready the next day and it was perfect! Thank you Ruby!!! When you go in you will see very a very small space with a lot going on (it's magic). Understand that with so much happening everyone is very focused on the job in front of them (they have to be). I found my new tailor! I found this business on Yelp and went in on a Wednesday. The staff was sooooo nice. They were empty when I walked in, but it was a revolving door after that, and the main tailor was patient the entire time. There is an area to try dresses on(it was a little odd when a man was changing in the one next to me, and I needed help zipping the dress so I walked out to see the staff and he walked out and literally stood there next to me instead of going back to the front the entire time she pinned it, but that is not a reflection of the shop AT ALL just know there are shared spaces so next time I will probably wear shorts underneath and a tank top to avoid creeps). They were able to do an excellent job, in a little over a week, and it was much cheaper than shops in Denver! I paid 50 dollars, for a wonderful job, where they cut/hemmed the dress and fixed the top. There is no other place I will go now!
