I picked up the dress and it was taken in so much that the dress no longer fit me. I then asked them to take it out and they ruined the dress entirely. I was told that the area "wouldn't pill or rip anymore" and that it was "under the arms" so it didn't matter. They took a gorgeous new dress and completely destroyed it. After I asked, I was refunded the money for the alterations I paid for but am now out the money I paid for the dress. Do not go here.

I sew, but the dress was heavily beaded and I was afraid of ruining it. Fran snuck me into her schedule at the last minute and did an absolutely flawless job for half the price I was quoted by The Sewing Room; (a price so high I would have risked doing it myself before I paid it, btw). Back in 2013 I brought some ripped jeans and a detached bowtie for her to fix, and since then I have come back over 2-3 times just because I enjoy making it over to her shop. For starters, Fran is the nicest elderly lady who lives in a gorgeously cluttered little house with all the utensils needed to fix almost any sewing project. She charges at minimum wage to fix things ($5 for a smallish fix, for example), adds on and fixes things for free, and will make trips to stores to buy just what she needs to fulfill your request. She does not hesitate to do her best job on your project, and this may mean taking several weeks. Just be sure to bring cash as she doesn't take credit. She also dug me out of the snow when I got stuck in her driveway! She came out and poured kitty litter for tire grip and drove my car out of the snow for me. I wish there was a Fran in every city that I move to after graduating.

I had about 4-5 fittings to make sure everything was perfect, and within those times I saw approximately 20 different people - all English-speaking - come in, explain what they wanted, or pick up their altered clothing and leave absolutely ecstatic! The ladies know what they are doing, and they really are such a pleasure to work with! They ended up charging me $300 for: sleeves (made from my dress), 10 bustles, adding lift to the top of the dress, adding white to the top as it was previously semi see through, and sewing in a small piece to the back of my dress. My dress is big, very heavy, and made of thick lace so it was easy to really mess up, but they made it into my dream dress. Bring all your altering needs here! Have patience if you don't speak Spanish, and explain. They will do exactly what you want!

I took my wedding dress in…read morefor alterations, the dress was hemmed too short (she said it just wasn't pressed), it was too short after pressing. Bra pads were sewn in but edges were visible. Embellishments were sewn in the wrong spot (I had explained and showed her a photo of what I wanted and they would have fit if sewn on like I requested), they were also loose and not secure. The bustle buttons were sewn on crooked and did not match the dress, but she said "that's all I have". When I addressed these concerns at my appointment, she dismissed them, I did not feel good leaving my final appointment. She has refused to work with me on making this right. I requested a partial refund on an $800 alterations bill, thinking that was fair, she refused. The dress was unwearable and I had to purchase a new dress at the last minute! I wish I wouldn't have paid her in full. She told me on May 27th that she'd be back in town "in a couple weeks" to look at the dress, my wedding was on June 20th so that was impossible, not to mention the dress was unfixable as it was hemmed way too short. She then tried to blame it on us making my appointment too late. Buyer beware she does NOT stand behind her work.
