I attended a sound bath at the Sedona House, and left feeling peaceful and refreshed.

Transcendental Meditation came highly recommended to me recently as I was going through a very…read moretough time. I was able to attend a group zoom meeting to learn more about this type of meditation and decided to sign up for classes. The setup is this - the classes run for around 2 hours for 4 consecutive days. The first class is a one-on-one session with the meditation teacher, and the 3 subsequent classes are in a group. I showed up a few Saturdays ago for my one-on-one. The location of this particular TM center is right in Harbor East. I've driven by many times and never knew it was there. I had to be buzzed in. The lobby of this place was gorgeous and calming with lots of plants and comfortable places to sit. No one was around so I sat down and waited. Shortly thereafter, the TM teacher, Michael Mason came out into the lobby, followed by another student who was just finishing his one-on-one. Michael Mason is a very soothing person. His very presence put me at ease. From there, he gave me instruction on TM. I cannot go into detail about it, other than to say I feel I took to it quickly and effectively. The classes over the next 3 days were informative and answered a lot of questions I had about this type of mediation. What I'll say is this...my stress and anxiety levels have totally dropped. I am not saying that I no longer have issues, but TM has helped me to deal with them and release the bad feelings associated with them. I've not missed a meditation in 11 days now, and I intend to do them regularly going forward. I highly recommend this TM course (which is income based) for people going through a tough time, those with stress and anxiety, and also for people whose life is going just fine. TM is a benefit to all.

Very compelling teacher/guide, but the process itself was very dogmatic and ultimately the $900 I…read morepaid for a process that did nothing I could have instead used to (for example) vaccinate lots of poor kids in Haiti.

I've been…read morepracticing yoga since I was a teenager and it has become such an integral part of my life over the years. No matter where I've moved, I've always managed to find a studio and I'm so glad to have found BambooMoves in Locust Point! It's more than just a space where I practice yoga - it's a space that helps me reflect on things and take some much needed time for myself. I love the fact that it's walking distance from my home and that it has such a calming vibe. When I start at a new studio, there are always a few things I look for - clean, bright and open space, small class sizes, friendly teachers and the option to practice at my own pace. BambooMoves checks off all those boxes and so much more! Everyone at the studio is so friendly and welcoming and is always encouraging students to listen to their bodies and practice at the pace that feels most comfortable to them. There are classes for all levels as well as classes for people just starting out in their yoga practice. Signing up for a class is super easy as well. If you visit the BambooMoves website, you can access the schedule for the week and can sign up directly on the website. All in all, I highly recommend this studio!

Best friend and I were strolling down the street on our first day in Baltimore. Saw their sign and…read morethought we'd do it. My gut was telling me she was scamming us from the jump, but I stayed to see what else she'd say. She kept trying to add more and more onto the reading, and wasn't specific at all. Based on the reviews, looks like we had similar "readings." We should've yelped this person, but I guess spontaneity comes at a price sometimes. $50 scammed. Do not trust her. Wish I could give no stars.

She called me back at 5:45, and I called her back when I got off work at 6PM. She asked me if i could come any earlier, and I said no because I was already on my way. She said "okay I will wait for you". I would hope so. I arrive and the door is locked. I knock, and ring the door bell. I see children running around inside. After a minute I was greeted at the door. I was wearing a mask. She asks me how I'm doing and I say "good". She asks me how I'm doing with the whole pandemic, and I reply "much better now". I was hoping since she is a psychic she would pick up on my vibes of me going through my second awakening. She asks me if I'm sick. I say no. She asks me if I'm sure. I reply yes. She said she was questioning me because of my statement about "doing better". Fair enough. I tell her that I'm fine, and that my soul is doing better now. It becomes awkward. I didn't feel welcome at all. No warmth. She keeps asking me if I'm sick. I ask her if she would like me to leave. She said she just wants to be safe because her grandchildren are there. Again I say that I am not sick. She asks me again, and that is when I leave. She apologizes. I understand having to be cautious, but my intuition told me from her phone call that she had no interest in having a client. So why even make the appointment? I also got the vibe that this was more about money than helping.

Unsurprisingly, most of the negative reviews are from people trying to deal with their gift certificates or gift cards since they are not able to provide reasonable service to people unfamiliar with their procedures. Throughout the process, I had to chase the owner, Gary, repeatedly over text and phone in order to get any information. A list of things I wish I knew before attempting to use a gift certificate here: I was alone in the building, not just the room, with an unknown man. Zen and the City is a therapist-owned establishment that has appointment-only booking for services. In light of this description, I probably should have known that I would be alone with my massage therapist. Except the website contains none of that information, which I only learned about after the appointment, so I was blindsided. My massage therapist was a very nice man who did his best to make me feel welcome and taken care of (Thank you, Anthony. You were the only good part of this whole experience!), but it was hard to set aside how uncomfortable it was to be alone with a strange man without knowing before that no one else would be there. The gift certificates (physical) and gift cards (e-cards) are redeemed in different ways. The website doesn't make it clear (either in the description or during the purchase) that physical gift certificates are only redeemable for a specific service, and that the gift certificates and gift cards are considered two different products. When I got the certificate for Zen and the City, neither my father (who bought this as a gift) nor I knew there was a difference between the two until after I had my appointment and was told otherwise. If you redeem the service-specific gift certificate for the wrong service by mistake, Zen and the City will not inform you of the mistake when you book your appointment and will instead pocket the remaining money without further services or refund, even after their error is pointed out to them. I suspect they would have prevented me from redeeming the gift certificate for something that was MORE money than the one I used, but when I accidentally used it from something that cost LESS, I was only told afterwards when I couldn't fix my mistake, or receive a refund for the balance. The initial confirmation text message is meaningless. It doesn't accurately reflect that an appointment's successfully been made (because you get a text regardless), and it does not result in you being correctly signed up to receive text messages. Instead, they will contact you by email, no matter your indicated preference (which they don't know anyway because they never ask for your preference). If there is a problem with your email address, they will not use your phone number to follow up. There will be no further attempt to contact you. I'll be honest and admit that I made quite a few mistakes in attempting to deal with Zen and the City, and I accept the responsibility of those mistakes. However, I think it's important for future potential customers to know beforehand that this is the kind of business that is happy to take advantage of your confusion, your mistakes, or your unexpected illness (check out their sick policy). It's up to you whether you want to risk giving this place your money and time.

It's a little difficult to maneuver to get out but it's manageable. We were immediately greeted by the owners who were super nice and knowledgeable of all the crystal properties. They had a nice selection of crystals, jewelry, lotions, etc... You are allowed to touch and hold the crystals even the ones in the glass cases. There were two card readers who were available at only $1 a minute. So I chose the $10 reading which I thought was accurate. I believe the card readers name was Lisa. She was very personable and down to earth lady. I enjoyed my time there and the prices for the crystals were comparable to what I have come across. A nice place to visit.
