This Pilates House in Fells Point was my very first introduction to Pilates, and now that I've been…read moreto three different studios across a couple companies, I can confidently say this one stands out. From the start, they did a great job making me feel prepared and welcomed. They provided clear, helpful information about what to expect as a first-timer and even what to bring--details that can make a big difference when you're new and unsure. This information is on their website but I also called ahead of time to verify. The studio itself is clean, fresh, and modern--an inviting space that feels great to work out in. The staff are quite kind, friendly, and well-organized. I appreciate how attentive and helpful they were during class. They gently stepped in with guidance when needed in a way that felt supportive --something I really appreciated. I've now taken two classes here: a reformer class and a hot Pilates class. Both were enjoyable in totally different ways, and I'd highly recommend trying both to see what works for you. Personally, I found a new joy with the reformer--it's such a unique and effective workout. But I also enjoyed the hot room, which offered an amazing sweat session and left me feeling less tense and well stretched from all the good blood flow. I'm so glad I started my Pilates journey here, and I definitely hope to return for more classes in the future!

It features tons of natural light overlooking the Fells Point area with waterfront views. Staff was friendly and check-in was quick and easy. They do provide mat or towel rentals for a fee so I recommend bringing your own. Loved that all the equipment, including a 10 pound ring weight, 3 pound pill shaped weights, and a band, was all set up at each spot prior to class. Mat spots were assigned at check-in but I think if you're a member through Pilates House, you get to choose your spot. The class itself was 45 min of full body heated pilates sculpt starting with some very intentional core work. I don't have a ton of experience with mat pilates (yoga sculpt at CorePower is the closest thing I could compare it to) but the queuing and breathwork at this class was definitely very new for me. The instructor did a good job providing visual demos however, I wasn't a huge fan of her teaching style overall. I think this is just a matter of preference though and I still loved the structure of class. Are my abs sore? Absolutely. It was a great workout! I'll definitely be back to try some more classes at Pilates House. The biggest downside is the parking though.

Kristy and Jodie are amazing Pilates instructors and extremely welcoming to all skill levels. While I had taken several Pilates classes before, I had not used a Pilates reformer until first visiting Embody Pilates & Wellness in 2018 - I might have been the only one in my first class who had zero reformer experience. Instructing a class with a wide variety of experience can be challenging, but Kristy and Jodie do it with ease and seamlessly offer modifications to make each portion of the class accessible to anyone. I try to go to all the classes she teaches because not only is she kicking my butt and making me the strongest I've ever been, there's just something about her that is so soothing to my brain. She's always excited to see you and she is so encouraging during the workout. It will be the toughest workout but somehow she makes it not seem so bad. It helps that she is either doing the entire workout with you or demonstrating so you know exactly what to do. I can't sing her praises enough! Definitely go to her if you're new to barre (or a pro at barre!). I use the "mind body" app to schedule all my classes (or just go to their website).

What do I love about it? Well first, Skylar was so sweet. I have never used these machines before and I typically do yoga and not reformer workouts, the concept here is small micro movements that tire out the muscles and tone down to the bone. My arms were shaking and I appreciate how Skyler would correct my form when I was out of alignment. The studio is clean, spacious, fun, and it's a great workout with lovely people. What to expect. Be prepared to sweat, be prepared to not be good at it your first time. Consider trying out several classes to become proficient at using the machine as well as transitioning from exercise to exercise. Bring a towel, bring water, bring high energy and get ready to enjoy yourself. I can already tell I am going to be sore tomorrow (in a good way). I am very excited to add Solid Core to my workout routine, give it a try, I know you will love it too.

And when I attended classes recently I appreciated the welcoming energy of staff and pretty clean environment. But now, in 2026, I see there is room for improvement to maintain a high quality work experience and environment. First, a proper balance between music and instructor voice must be struck so that the participants can hear the instructor clearly (and not muffled) while engaging in an immersive sound experience. I find it concerning that my watch informs me that being in the room for more than 30 minutes can greatly increase risk of hearing loss. I think the soundscape can be restructured to be surrounding without overwhelming. Furthermore, I noticed a significant change in post-class atmosphere. Staff are friendly, but the bathrooms have significantly less hygiene products and this Solidcore doesn't have any showers. Given that this one of the most expensive $ to class ratio in the Baltimore area, I think participants would appreciate their class price or membership price utilized for amenities like a shower or more hygiene products in the bathrooms. I hope to attend a solidcore class soon again with hope of an improved immersive experience and high quality class.

I normally go to slt in NYC (which is phenomenal) but have been very curious about sculpt. I went this am and while one class is hardly the means for a rating, I found the studio meh as far as megaformer workouts. Don't get me wrong. This workout is difficult and not geared towards beginnings. The straps, balancing and movements cause one to need a few times to get the gist of it. Add on to the general difficulty! So why 3 stars for sculpt. Playlist and drill sergeant like instruction made the class not fun. She counted 20-19-18.... more repeatedly. Grrrr. I found myself repeated looking at the clock which is something I rarely do. In addition, music was circa 1980s and definitely a feed issue to the stereo because there was a scratchy sound for parts of the class. Moves and corrections were generally very good, however. As I've mentioned with other specialty classes it's the instructor that makes all the difference. I'm super spoiled I live in NYC and fortunately a couple of my favorite folks are not only at the tops in their field, some have even developed cult status (so says allure magazine). Best practices equal always a fresh playlist (I've never heard the same list twice for my favorites), good choreography, energy and corrections. So for $35 a class, I'd hope that I get just that. Otherwise I could go to the free classes at my gym. I think solid core which I rate 4.5 stars is better on instruction and energy, music also could be improved. 3 stars bc any megaformer class is a minimum of ok, but the extra factor is instruction and music.

So when the Club Pilates opened in the Rotunda, I decided to give them a try. My instructor Jalen was very informative and helpful during our session, if she noticed you were not doing a move correctly she would adjust you, or if you have slight injuries, she would show you modifications. They do offer various package deals for their classes, or if you want to drop in from time to time, the classes are currently $25 per class. Per the instructions on groupon, I emailed Fran so that I could create a log in online but I didn't hear back from her so I called the office. Once my account was created, I was able to sign up for classes. I was informed before I took any classes I would need to take the Intro to Equipment class. Fran was the instructor. She was patient and helpful as it was my first time and I needed specialized attention. For my second session, I took Reformer I & II with Doreen. Foe my last session I took Tower with a substitute for Doreen. All the instructors were patient, helpful, and friendly. They ask if anyone had injuries and they walk around and if your technique is wrong they adjust and correct you which I greatly appreciated. The classes were challenging to me since I am not good at following directions. Also, if you don't remember instructions well, I recommend taking Intro to Equipment multiple times. I had to look around to see how to do things as I am a visual learner, not an audio learner. The facility is tucked away in the corner and is not visible if you are in the parking lot. Fortunately I saw someone wearing athletic clothes and followed them. The facility is clean and bright. There are two individual restrooms. There is a main room with cubbies. The reformer room also had cubbies. The reformer room was slightly warm even with ceiling fans so I dressed lighter the second and third session. I enjoyed my experience, but could have benefitted from more intro classes. The classes were much different than my normal cardio and strength training classes at my gym. The pace was slower and it was a great way to relieve stress. I highly recommend Core Fitness for Pilates.
