Vanilla soft serve with squirts of Monin lavender syrup. My creation! Try it!
    Nena C.

Went to The Scoop for the first time tonight and it was great! We saw that lavender was their predominant secret menu flavor for their cafe drinks, so I knew I had to go because I LOVE lavender. When we got there, we were greeted right away by a staff member. She offered to have us test some of their ice creams. I tried the strawberry cheesecake and the chocolate fudge. Both had good flavor, but the texture seemed a bit grainy. There was someone fixing what looked like a cooling system, so I figured perhaps the temp of the freezer got a bit high and the ice cream froze a little. It had that kind of texture to it. I will come back and try them a different day, because I genuinely think this is a one off. Regardless, I noticed they had soft serve on the menu; I'm a sucker for good soft serve. I'm also a sucker for lavender. So, I asked one of the staff members if I could get soft serve but with the Monin lavender syrup on top. She was happy to oblige me, and when I tasted it, I was in heaven! I can't believe I never though to do this before! It's like eating lavender ice cream! I'm obsessed. In addition to the soft serve with lavender syrup, I ordered a large lavender matcha. It came out nice and hot, so I only took a few sips before we left and it tasted good. When we both finished our ice creams (he had the Oreo in a waffle cone- which he loved), we took our drinks and left. On the way home, mine cooled enough that I could get a big gulp. The matcha flavor was indeed good, but the drink was just a tad too sweet. I'm used to my matcha without any sweetener, but I knew the lavender syrup would add some sweetness. Unfortunately, I tasted less lavender than I expected. Now, this was all realized after I left, so I only blame myself. I also didn't tell her that I don't like my drinks very sweet- especially since they have a sign that says you can choose your sweetness level. In any case, when I go in next, I will ask her not to put in the vanilla syrup, only to use the lavender for me, but also, just use less syrup than normal. My boyfriend absolutely loved, not only his ice cream, but his cappuccino. Thank you to the lovely women working there. They were all super sweet. I feel badly that they got busy when something broke that needed fixing. I worked in the service industry for 15 years, and I know how much that sucks! You ladies did a great job!

This place is absolutely wonderful. From the decor to the staff it is a great little spot to grab coffee, ice cream, and even Red Bull refreshers. I ordered a Valentine's Day box for my son to give his girlfriend for a Valentine's Day Present . And of course I had to get one for him as well. I love the decor that they have inside of the shop. The staff was very attentive and just wonderful to be around. I would recommend this spot to anybody that's looking to get a local coffee. While I was there, picking up the Valentine's Day boxes I also had a caramel latte and my son got a watermelon Red Bull refresher. I did like my latte unfortunately it was not as sweet as I would like it to be but that has a lot to do with preference of course. My son said that he liked his Red Bull refresher, but said that it honestly just takes it just like a Red Bull with a little flavor into it. but I love supporting small businesses and this is one that I will continue to support.

Husband and I went to The Scoop a couple of times now! Such a cute little spot with lots of different flavors of ice cream. I typically just get a scoop in a cup and my husband gets a waffle cone. They also have lots of different kinds of popsicles as well as milkshakes. We typically grab our ice cream and eat it by the train station across the street.

Great ice cream shop. Excellent, very friendly service. We all really enjoyed what we ordered. The Mint Chip, Caramel, strawberry and soft serve were all good. The lemonade and green drink were excellent.

Terrible service. Old tasting ice cream. Way overpriced. You are better off going to th grocery store and buy ice cream there.

They had a large main dining room with coffee bar to sit at as well as some back spaces to host events. They recently got new owners who are going to revamp the menu and offer more events to the community. Their menu was smaller but intriguing. They had great signature drink flavors that could be applied to different coffee style drinks. I got the Lavender Shortbread flavor as an iced latte and loved it! My husband got the Chai Latte which he wasn't quite fond of but they asked if he wanted cinnamon on top which was nice. Overall, coffee is their specialty and there's a reason why. I'm sure they have other tea drinks that may have been more favorable as well. I wouldn't mind coming back to enjoy a cup inside rather than to-go.

Cello was the same, but different. Similar to the Starbucks ethos, they specialize in a number of fancy coffees, yet still offer plain old brewed coffee. We tried the brewed coffee (5-star fresh and hot), some Green Tea called mint (5-star delish), and a fruit crêpe. Now the fruit crêpe was also a 5-star offering, but you better come hungry ... it was a huge helping, and we ended up splitting it but still could not finish. It was a freshly made crêpe with Nutella and a light cream sauce inside, piled with fresh fruit and then a drizzle of Nutella and the cream sauce on top. This was a meal-sized delight. Many of the other offerings seem to be simply a different riff on the fruit crêpe, which can also come on a fresh waffle. Now this is not the kind of place where you pop in for a quick coffee to go ... but, rather, it takes time to get food (service) here because most of it is freshly made. But that said, if you have the time the food (crepes, coffee, and tea) were worth the wait. Ambiance wise, the decor was very nice ... just enough fru-fru to make you forget you're in a strip mall. There are a number of chairs, tables, and and sofas around to make many seating arrangements, which was nice; you can come with a group or as a single and feel welcome. The only negatives on our visit: the music list was fine, but way too loud; they must turn the music down so patrons can have a conversation. When we arrived we noticed an employee parking their car right in front of the establishment (5 feet from the entrance) and we thought that maybe they could have parked in the spaces just across the lot (35 feet from the door); it just makes sense to cater to your customers, rather than yourself. But all that said, this was a nice new offering in Orland Park.
