First visit. Walked over from a hotel (skipping the local diner) for Sunday brunch at the Sassy Biscuit. The guy taking orders at the register let me know that a large group just swamped the short staffed kitchen with a massive order. Wait time for food was about 45 minutes. Got my decent cup of coffee and did some people watching in the spacious, energetic dining area. Took a bit, but eventually a female server with dark hair caught up from the rush. Coffee cup was refilled regularly. My Kitchen Sink entree and side of grits arrived about 40 minutes later. Food was hot and looked yummy. Kitchen forgot to put the bacon gravy on the main dish. Pointed this out to the server. She followed the recently instituted chain of command and made things right. Food was delicious but on the salty side. Shout out to the server for being friendly, keeping the coffee cup filled and going the extra mile to overcome the kitchen error. One thing that was perplexing. My entree was a riff on biscuits and gravy. But the biscuit was TINY. If Biscuit is in your name...it should be the focus of the plate. Need more of that tasty biscuit! You know it's a good sign when you walk in and there is a line of people waiting to order and all the seating was taken. My partner was like should we go somewhere else? Had an amazing experience at the sassy biscuit. Restaurant had a very open layout. It's the kinda place where you order at the counter, take your number and your food is brought to you. My friend and I were being indecisive so we decided to split 3 different entrees. We had the sassy, which was the simplest but by far my favorite. I'm a sweet over savory type of girl. I'm getting the sweets every time. We also had the semper fi. The egg was cooked to perfection and that bacon! Omg soooo goooood. I would've ordered an extra side of bacon had I known it was that good. Last we shared the Carolina cristo. My least favorite of the 3. Still very good but a bit too much jam for me. The space is really cool, cute seats and table set ups. The food was delicious. Definitely don't skip on getting something with their biscuits. (Duh!) Note: They are busy during the weekends, so expect a wait for food and, potentially, a place to sit. (You order at the counter, they give you a number, then you find your table.) We tried this place for the 1st time today and were not disappointed! Hubby got the Jule-ya and I got The Cluck, both with a side of bacon. They were extremely busy, so we couldn't get lattes, but their drip coffee was very good. The bacon was thick cut and delicious, especially dipped in their apple cider syrup! The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside, and the waffles and pancakes were soft, pillowy, and full of flavor! The decor is cool and eclectic-there's a lot to look at! What a gem. Walked in and paused for a minute. A lovely woman walked ip and began telling us about the food. Homemade biscuits, their chicken, which they brine which makes it moist and juicy. They also smoke their own bacon and meats. I ordered a biscuit & chicken sandwich. It was incredible. The chicken was crispy and soooooo moist and juicy. There was no fat, gristle, or tough dried out piece. My biscuit eventually fell apart but I ate every piece. I finished the whole sandwich and have told many bout the chicken. This will seem weird that I'm leaving a four star review for a place I walked away from a bit disappointed in my experience. I was passing through town and wanted to grab a quick breakfast. Seeing the good reviews of this place I decided to give it a try. First impression is that it's very cute and nicely appointed. Second impression is confusion. There is nothing to tell you how to order, or if you just take a seat or you will be seated or anything. I stood awkwardly for a few minutes before someone helped me. Eventually I placed my order and sat down. I'd ordered just a standard breakfast of bacon, scrambled eggs, and potatoes. The meal: the plate arrived with scrambled eggs, grilled sourdough bread, a load of potatoes, and thick cut pork belly bacon. The bacon was kind of odd, very thick and seemed a bit burnt. Not a lot of flavor either. I would have preferred just regular bacon. Or they should sprinkle it with a bit of brown sugar before grilling. Something. I ate one slice and it was...okay. The potatoes were the big disappointment. Undercooked and very salty. Essentially inedible. Another odd thing was that I asked for some hot sauce and they brought me a bottle of siriacha. Now I really like siriacha, but not with eggs for breakfast. The coffee, eggs, and toast were excellent. The server saw that I wasn't eating all my meal and asked about it. I told her the problems with the bacon and potatoes. Now here is why I'm giving the place 4 stars. She was upset that they hadn't provided good food and offered to have them redone or substituted. I told her it was fine as I'd already had the rest and REALLY shouldn't be eating potatoes anyway. Then the manager (or possibly owner) came over and asked me how they could make it right. But I was satisfied with the eggs and toast. When I offered a suggestion she was eager to know how to make things better. On my way out, a server stopped me and gave a card for a free meal to give them another try. Unfortunately I was just passing through otherwise I would have. Final notes: Make it easier to know how to order and get seated. Work a bit more on the bacon. Thick is fine, but it needs tweaked a little more. Stock up on a couple good hot sauces. Maybe pre-cook the potatoes then crisp up on orders. The eggs, bread, and coffee were excellent. The most important thing about this restaurant is THEY CARE! If you are unhappy they will go out of their way to make it right. The management and staff honestly want to give their diners the best possible experience. That means a lot in this era of rather jaded food service. I really wasn't that unhappy with the meal and advise everyone to give them a try. read more

Ventured here on a Sunday morning after taking a walk at Swords Park. This is my first time in Montana and this happen to be the first place I tried in Downtown Billings. The interior is cute and cozy with some vintage vibes to it. The place is spacious with plenty of tables, mostly meant for 2-4 people. Order at the counter, they will give you a number and bring the food to your table. Staff is welcoming and food comes quick. The menu, as the name, is mostly build on biscuit. They have it in waffle form, sandwich, with gravy, and more. However, they also have other dishes like porridge and pancake. I would highly recommend going for the biscuits though, cause I mean, it's the pride of the business. Aside from that, they also have various drinks and specialty latte. It's winter and I should have ordered something warm but I couldn't resist the toasted coconut cold brew (which was so good! It's not too sweet and you can really taste the coconut) Thank God their water is not ice cold. I ordered The Southerner because it's noted as one of their signature. It's simply biscuits and gravy, however instead of gravy over the biscuit, they place the biscuit in the gravy, which I think leave a slightly crispier texture on some parts. The biscuits are fluffy on the inside without being overly buttery. They soak up the gravy nicely. The gravy is made of sage sausage. It's spicy and savoury, with slight sweetness from the onion, and the sausage really gives a nice chunky texture. Probably one of the best gravy I've ever had. If I have the chance I would love to come back and try their other menu! Very reasonably priced too! read more

Not impressed at all. The place has cool looking decor and a nice feel about the place. You get in line to order and go find a place to sit. Food comes out in a timely manner. Drip coffee has a bad after taste. The Kitchen Sink- the home fries were hard and lacked flavor. They tasted like potatoes that had been baked and sat in the fridge for a few days and then warned up. During our short stay in Montana, I've been to the Sassy Biscuit twice. The interior of the restaurant is very cute with nonfunctional clocks covering one wall. I like that the interior is very spacious so that even without outdoor seating, customers are able to have their own space to eat. Order at the counter and seat yourself! The first time we went was in the afternoon on a Monday around 1PM. Unfortunately, at this visit, many items on the menu were already sold out including all porridge items and gravy which limited selection drastically. I ended up ordering the Carolina Cristo sandwich which was decent. I don't think I would order it again. For the size and price of the sandwich I feel like it would serve more as a snack than an entree. The sandwich came on its own without any sides etc. The second time we went was earlier in the day, a Wednesday morning around 11AM. Thus, we had the full menu to select from that time. I ended up ordering the kitchen sink biscuits and gravy which was delicious! and the reason I would go back to try more of their food. The single biscuit reminded me of the red lobster cheddar biscuits but plain, but very yummy (I wish there was a second one). Eggs could be ordered how you like and I chose medium which was cooked perfectly. The sausage was flavorful but overall the meal was on the more salty side. The gravy had bacon, peppers, mushrooms and rested on a bed of potato hash leaving me with a satisfied tummy but wanting more. Hoping to try more of the menu items (especially on the biscuit and gravy portion!) also! there are options to make many menu items vegetarian which is nice. Wow. We're headed through Montana to Washington and just wanted a non Hilton breakfast. This place just so happened to be around the corner from the doubletree! Probably one of the best breakfasts I've had in a very long time. The Benni (eggs Benedict) was incredible and my partner got The Kentucky from the lunch menu which was incredible as well. Found this place randomly. The inside is really nice and open. You walk up and order inside. Ordering was quick and simple. I have food allergies so usually it's a big hastle to find somthing I can eat but not here. They have a variety of foods to choose from. The wait for food wasn't long probably 15 minutes or so. I debated wether to write this, as I hate to be negative, but I think it's important for the owner and other patrons to be informed. For starters there's no indication that you need to order first before sitting down. I seated myself and after about 10 minutes I decided that you had to order first. Keep in mind I was one of only two people in the establishment. No came to me to let me know the process. The kitchen is open to the dining area, while I was waiting for my meal it was obvious that there was some type of drama in the kitchen between the owner and the cooks. Okay a lot of drama. I ordered biscuits and gravy and the Semper Fi biscuit. I requested my egg or easy but it came back well done. The good thing is that the gravy was delicious and the biscuits were also very good. If it wasn't for the drama and the lack of attention to the customers, I would've given this place a five read more

This restaurant shares a space and kitchen with a chicken restaurant called The Jook. It's a really cute and funky restaurant that feels very homey inside but also spacious. We went here because I thought there would be vegan options and I try to avoid dairy (the online menu stated vegan biscuit and vegan gravy) but the menu must have changed because there was nothing vegan or vegetarian indicated on the menu when we went in person. I tried to order the salad they have in the menu, but they had run out. I ended up ordering the chicken wings and waffles. The waffle was a 3, it was tasty and infused with cinnamon but I wish it had been a bit crispier on the edges. The wings were a 1, hence the 2 star rating. Instead of being rolled in breading and fried, they tasted as if they were rolled in pure seasoning and then fried. It was way too much seasoning and salt for my tastes. Also the wing pieces had very little meat on them. And is it normal to eat wings that still have the tiny bird talon/claws on them? I have never eaten that part of the chicken when ordering wings before. They came with a side of corn bread. The texture of the cornbread was really nice, it was fluffy yet crispy on the outside. Me and my brother went here for the first time as he was visiting from out of town and we wanted to try something new. The service here was extremely disappointing. The man taking our order couldn't explain a single dish to us and could not give us any insight on the menu. We had no idea what our food was going to come out with as sides or what to expect with our dishes. Food was very plain. The chicken on the biscuit was very chewy and did not have a lot of flavor.
