Chorizo and Shredded Chicken Tacos
Ben M.

We stopped by The Sangria Bowl on the way back home from the Blue Ridge Area. The restaurant itself is accessed trough an old movie theater and has a small indoor and outdoor eating area. We are outside on a pretty warm day for October and enjoyed the space. We ordered The Chile con Queso dip to start with a Sangria Flight followed by some Street Tacos. The Chile con Queso had good flavor with some kick and the Plantain chips were different than what we were used to but good. Out of the Sangria flight all had good flavor as well and were refreshing but our favorites were Just Peachy and Lavender Lemonade. Both of the Tacos were delicious and there were actually two tortilla per taco which held them together well. We had an overall good experience and would recommend it to anyone looking for some Latin food in Culpeper.

I was excited when I walked up the steps to the sangria bowl, which is on the second floor of the old state theater, to see the swanky 20s wallpaper and gorgeous teal sofa in the waiting area at the top of the stairs. But then I realized this wasn't the restaurant and then had to walk into this room painted black with generic tables and chairs and absolutely no charm that I was so disappointed. The appetizers were good. I recommend the elote bites. However, they were out of two of their sangrias for the flights which was also very disappointing and for a business highlighting sangria I feel like they shouldn't be out of any. It was an ok visit. Worth one visit but I'm not sure I'd return. Sad because the location and premise offer a lot of possibilities

This is a roof top bar that has great views of the mountains and we watched the sunset on a beautiful spring day. We got 2 sangria flights with 8 different types of sangrias. All of them were really good. Definitely try the bruschetta it was amazing and the beef empanadas were really good too with the dipping sauce. This is a hidden gem.

We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon when it was not very busy. We tried a flight of Sangria and they were all good. Our favorite was Lavender Lemonade followed by Just Peachy. For the appetizer, we tried the plantain nachos. The plantains seemed like they were from a bag but nevertheless tasted good. The food came out so fast that made it feel like it was just warm and serve. They only have a few tables in their rooftop deck area, so it's best to make a reservation ahead of time. Their historic location makes for an interesting setting. Parking is across the street in a small parking lot. Double check parking signs for pay-to-park days/times.

I absolutely love this restaurant! It is one of my all time favorites. The food is fresh and delicious. The sangria is awesome. I order take out here often and it's just as good as in person! The queso dip is one of my favorites! I've loved EVERYTHING I've eaten from here. And the rooftop dining option is great!

But the unassuming place hits the spot for island food. My days in Miami were flashing before me. As I sit full and happy the young lady who took my order did me right. The place even has the broke island look of a tropical shack. The kitchen is an assembly line of talented people whipping up food. 4.5 one of the better restaurants around IMO.

The chicken was tender and flavorful, and the mac and cheese was decent--especially since I wasn't sure what to expect. The most disappointing part was the rice and peas; I was hoping for a bit more flavor. Overall, given the lack of Jamaican restaurants in NoVA, this spot was decent, and I'd return to try some of the other sides. Customer service was great. Initially I chose mixed veggies as a side but changed it to mac and cheese with no issues at all; the staff was more than willing. The restaurant itself is spacious compared to most Jamaican spots and is located right next to BJ's. Lunch prices are reasonable, though the regular entrées are on the pricier side in my opinion. That said, the lunch portion was more than enough.

Next, this place have quality chicken, but you never know what they have left for the day. As far as I know, this is the only real authentic Caribbean restaurant in Woodbridge VA. However, they are not consistent with their menu items. For example, I ordered a chicken roti. It usually has chicken, chickpeas, potatoes, and loads of spices. On 01/10/25 the waiter ask if I wanted chickpeas, I said yes, this was unusual. Normally, it's a given. When I got home, all I had was a plain roti with chicken. When I call to complain, the same person said they perhaps ran out of chickpeas and potatoes as if it was not a issue. Why wouldn't the chef disclose this upfront? This is not the first time they were out of menu items, but normally they let you know. The fact that I experienced this more than once, I cannot continue to support this establishment.

After a very long hike in the morning, the wife and I decided to pick up something for lunch. And while looking for something new in the area, the wife decided to give this place a shot. We stopped by the place which is tucked in between some other warehouse stores, in the corner, not on the main road. We decided to order our food and Chef Pat was so kind and professional, he stopped by our car in the parking lot as we were struggling to find the place. The food we ordered is in the pictures, jerk chicken, Ackee & Saltfish, Mango Rum Cake, conch fritters, plantains and some beans and rice. We were running late, so the chef said they will deliver the food to our place. When the food was delivered to us, there was some miscommunication between what was ordered vs. delivered. However, when we called them, they apologized for the mistake and took care of it right away. After all this, I was, tbh, a little upset. And we sat down to open our delivery boxes since we were super hungry. As the lids opened, the aroma of the food filled the area. My frown turned into a smile right away. Now, I was getting excited to try the food, everything was packed very nicely for delivery, & was still nice and warm. Once we started tasting the dishes, I was floored. I have to say, by far, very very far, this is the best Caribbean food I have had in the US, thus far. The jerk chicken is cooked to perfection, I believe the chef mentioned they make it fresh everyday. The plantains were just so amazing, caramelized to perfection. The conch fritters were a perfect accompaniment with a sweet and spicy sauce. What truly left me speechless was the ackee and Saltfish, I cannot even begin to describe how good that dish was. I am a fan of Caribbean food now, if it's this good! To finish off, we split the Mango Rum Cake, where all we kept saying, after every bite was "yummm", as we kept closing our eyes to experience that perfect finishing touch to our meal. The food was cooked with a lot of skill, care and tons of love. The staff is coming up to speed and being trained, but the attitude of the chef is super professional and customer care oriented. A Hell Yeah 5 Star Review! Will keep going here, for sure. Wish you much success...!!!

Island Food To Go is an operation ran by Chef Pat, and you can really taste the authenticity in his food. You pre-order via calling the number or directly texting the number that is provided and then you can pick up the food curb-side, or you can have it delivered to your home. The jerk chicken was mind-blowingly good; the jerk marinade was so well-balanced and it had just the right amount of heat for my taste. The salt-fish and ackee dish was so delicious! Combine that with the red beans and rice and you have a comforting and delicious meal that is soul-satisfying. With each entree you have a choice of either white rice, yellow rice or red beans and rice. The mango rum cake we ordered was moist, buttery and perfectly baked. I can't wait to order their caribbean spice cake next time. There was a massive mix-up in terms of what was charged and what was actually delivered when the delivery driver delivered our food, but the business owner was quick to rectify the driver's mistake. They are still fairly new and fine-tuning their logistics, but with their level of professionalism and superior quality of food, I see this place becoming a big success. Can't wait to order my next meal from them!
