I absolutely loved my time here at Under Canvas. This is my second location that I've been to. The…read moreservice was phenomenal, they were so friendly and personable. I truly felt like I was camping with friends. The property is gorgeous, with lots of area to walk and explore. They give s'mores out every night, which is a great way to meet other campers at the fire pits. They have different game nights or activities every night, so you can really connect with others and the experience here. I love the tent, and the representative who showed us around the property and our tent was super informative and knowledgeable. I can't wait to stay here again next year.

So this is my second time glamping and there are aspects of this location that I love, and there…read moreare aspects that could be improved. First off, the location is awesome. Waking up in tent one and being able to look out on the water was a great way to start the day. The whole area is nice to walk around, playing board games in the main lodge during a rainy evening is relaxing, and there's several planned activities everyday to participate in if you don't head out to some of the nearby attractions. The staff is extremely welcoming and attentive. The food is pricey but good... I definitely recommend the lavender vanilla chai to start your morning off! One of the biggest positives is the bathroom is inside the glamping tent, so you don't have to sneak outside in the middle of the night and freeze yourself in the unheated "attached" bathroom like I have at a different glamping site. However, I really don't like the pull handle for the shower. Have you ever tried to clean long thick hair with one hand? Yeah, it's a bit challenging. Now I have seen several critiques about the cost of this location. I went in June, so technically at the beginning of the season. Flat out, everything in this region is seasonal and prices rapidly rise in July and even worse in August. I don't know that I would pay for a stargazer tent again (it's a nice idea but I'd rather sit on the tent's porch and look out at the stars.) However, I would definitely stay here again. The vibe is very chill, and watching all the families and their dogs relaxing throughout the campgrounds just felt right.

Clean, interesting bathroom decor; close to everything.... decent amenities, snacks, fridge,…read moremicrowave and coffee maker. They left two sodas and two waters, plus snacks. I'm still trying figure out the who why and what they were thinking for the bathroom. The toilet paper holder broke right off the vanity; looked like half was (oddly glued tiles to vanity) bathroom shower head (old and gross) wall tile installed on the floor.... Odd bathroom. Needs a professional to redo it- I'm convinced who ever decorated here, design nail salons Mattresses matters. Pillows matter. If I could offer any recommendations that would be a game changer as to whether I'd come back or not.... . These were... terrible. Perhaps the worst I've ever slept on, not worst but terrible. Very olds nasty pillows (2 of them have no covers on them (gross) ... tj max is across the street, if you stay here, go get yourself a new (clean) pillow - you'll thank me when you check in and see what they have on those beds. Soft sheets and blankets but unfortunately; nothing makes up for a terrible mattress. It's very thin, no support- feels like it's seen one too many nights. also, Coffee cups are so flimsy and too small to hold anything more then 6oz. They have some improvements to make for sure, but it was clean, and they do have some nice amenities. Not terrible, not amazing either - meh

They added a very strong toilet solution to mask the smell but unfortunately for them the leaks showed easily from the "blue" water At the base of the toilet. I asked to move to the room next door also in the back of the house and was told it was taken but was obviously not because my car was the only one parked in the unlit parking lot that made me feel unsafe. I told the owner about the leaky toilet, and the room was not what was advertised. She said she ran out of rooms and it was cheaper, then said, after I had already checked in for two hours and late at night, "you can check out!" About the leaky toilet, she said,"it happens". This is fraudulent advertising luring guests with a cheap price then shoving them in a hole next to a deserted backlot. This needs to be reported to the proper authorities.

Its 11pm, we are on route 1 driving from Boston to Acadia with no place to spend the night. Being…read moretoo cheap/poor for a place in Bar Harbor we quickly googled (from stolen wireless of some other hotel) alternative options. This place came up and we called hesitatingly to see if they have vacancy on a saturday night and they did. The motel is ran by a sweet couple from their porch. They man (whose name i forgot) waited for us to check in around 11:30. Yes, the furniture was outdated and there was a weird stuffy smell in the room, but the service was pleasant, free basic bagel & coffee breakfast and cheap and easy last minute booking 15 miles from Acadia. Only down side the wireless is limited and only works from the porch of the office.

I noticed some other reviewers pointed out how terrible the hotel condition was -- the room itself didn't have a problem, it was clean and very cozy. Their main office looked like an antique shop, chaotic but in an organized fashion! If some reviewers wanted to have a crazy clean hotel room with modern decors in this area, they would have to pay at least double the rate this hotel offered. Nothing is perfect, and so this hotel has just the right balance between comfort and affordability. The owners are also trying their best to make improvements on the room every season. Thanks for hosting and keep it up!
