This Hampton was our initial base for two nights of exploring Maine lighthouses. The property had plenty of parking and is located near shopping, a supermarket and restaurants*. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. It faced the back of the property, so there was very little noise from the roadway or from any of the other guests. One or two slammed doors is all. Wifi worked well, there was enough on the television to keep my brother entertained while I did my laptop and the two queen beds were comfortable. His only complaint was the faint blinking light from the smoke detector which you'll only notice after your eyes have completely adapted to the darkness. Breakfast in the morning was the standard Hampton setup with the main difference being the COVID handling where you let the ladies behind the counter know what you want and they get it for you. Omelet, turkey sausages, hard boiled eggs, cereals, fruits, yogurts, all of that. The young lady who initially checked us in was not wearing her mask. Everyone else we encountered was wearing one. And while it is a Maine requirement that hotels check for your negative COVID test in the last 72 hours, no one asked us for ours. Though we were prepared! https://www.yelp.com/biz/starmed-family-and-urgent-care-charlotte?hrid=r8FZC-qTjMoB-dQjp2FW6w * Not much open late during offseason! Cleanliness and facilities were in very good condition. The location was ideal for heading down to Acadia for the day.

What a nice place. Folks friendly, room clean and well maintained. Plenty of parking. About 18 miles from Bar Harbor.

Location was perfect, 10/10. Close enough to Bar Harbor & Acadia without the traffic snarls, plus…read moreplenty of Lobster Pounds along the way in both nearby Trenton & the Park itself. There is a paved trail behind the property for walkers and joggers alike. The only issue you'll encounter is trying to make that left turn to head South into Acadia, because with the two way traffic it's almost impossible without heading into the bank parking lot across the street, and THEN turning right to head South. Quiet factor: 9.5/10 - Ok, so you might hear an occasional door closing too hard here or there but the rooms themselves are well insulated. Plus, pay no mind to the railroad tracks outside the window behind the property. There is a local tourist railroad that is nearby but does not traverse through here. I believe they were once part of the Maine Central Railroad that was part of a bustling lumber industry in the late 1800's and were also famously used to occasionally transport President FDR to a private residence in Bangor in the 1930s, but (this) is a spur of that line that isn't otherwise used. That said, there are plenty of No Trespassing signs on it. Staff: 10/10. Kudos to the breakfast team who kept the Inn's guests well fed. Offerings were delicious, and varied each day, and they are to be commended. The dining room seats about twenty guests comfortably, so time your AM meal accordingly. The biscuits and gravy were particularly good. Free Otis Spunkmeyer cookies at check in, too. Plus there is complimentary lemon water, ice cream, and soup from 5p-8p daily. Value: 9.5/10. The free breakfast is a plus to any traveler's budget and was a big factor in me booking here. Closer properties to MDI and in Bar Harbor proper are at least 50% more per night and will offer you larger crowds, and no complimentary anything. Believe me...I already looked. If you have kids, the breakfast is a huge savings. Plus the property is pet friendly. Shower pressure is average. While there is a grab bar, there are no anti slip coatings or mats in any of the tubs, so be careful getting in and out. Plus the vanity sink sits VERY low for some reason, so expect to be hunched over when doing your morning hygiene routine. In room safes and ironing boards are a nice convenience that worked just fine, too. The place has just enough parking, is close to a SuperCenter Walmart in case you forgot to pack anything, and there are nearby grocery stores (Shaws; Hannaford's) too. . Housekeeping is done every 3rd day unless requested otherwise. Bottom line: It's noticeably a little more $ per night than most other Comfort Inn's you may have stayed at, but you get what you pay for, esp. in such a picturesque & renown part of Maine. Would recommend and will return in the future. Cheers!

Amazing rooms, incredible breakfast, and ambience that can't be beat. Blue Hill is a wonderful location to stage from for trips to Acadia, Bar Harbor, and coastal Maine in general... Not the Way Maine Innkeepers Should Be! BEWARE of Blue Hill Inn's policy before reserving! We lost…read more$600! Read other terrible reviews from TripAdvisor, as well. My husband and I are born/bred Mainers, looking forward to celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary at the Inn. We read the policy and booked two evenings. However, on our way up, our car broke down and we had to head home, trauma in itself. I called right away to cancel and explain the circumstances to the owners and hoped to receive some other future booking there, rather than loose our cash. The unfortunate answer was no. They refused to make any refund or bend their policy in any way. My husband wrote a kindly email explaining our situation, once again, but never received a reply. We understand the need for policies and support that, but flexibility for certain unavoidable circumstances should, we believe, also be considered. Their lack of any empathy to our situation and uncouth, unpolished manners reflects very poor customer service and cancels any future wish to ever stay at the Blue Hill Inn. These innkeepers are clearly from away and do not, in any way, mirror REAL Maine hospitality! So, if you book there, you'll loose your money, if you have to suddenly cancel, even for an unexpected accident or God forbid a death!!
