On the national historical registry since 2010. the wife and I were there one evening recently for an ArMack Orchestra performance, the sound within the auditorium is very good and I'm sure in her prime she was a grand venue, but this building has definitely seen better days. The first thing I noticed was the "mushy" smell when you walk into this large space - mold, dust and disrepair are apparent. The art deco interior is still very much there and intact - mostly just needs an update after all the years of neglect. Great stylized cut glass wall sconces, and stylized cut glass overhead light fixtures along with the lobby entrance and foyer details reveal just how great this grand structure was back in its day. High ceiling soar overhead and two huge murals - left and right of the stage reminded me that this used to be a place where people in the town gathered regularly in a different era. This space is now a multicultural facility for the performing arts and monthly movies. Also available for rent for special events, weddings, parties, concerts, etc. This is a special place within old Town downtown Eureka that needs to be used to keep her alive, and is in need of some loving restoration to keep around for future generations. Still a 4 Star venue for all of its awesome architectural details that still exist after seven plus decades. And, a venue that has the potential to be a true 5 star gem - with a little help. 00127

They feature awesome programming like "Science on Screen," when science lectures accompany sci-fi films, and live scores by musicians such as the Invisible Czars. Visiting the theater for their monthly noir night has become one of my favorite activities since moving to the area. Definitely grab a local beer, cider, glass of wine or speciality cocktail while viewing a flick--all proceeds go toward the theater's restoration. Rumors has it that the theater will soon have it's own deco Air BnB for rent upstairs--can't wait to recommend it to out of town visitors :)

This intimate venue, at the top of the stairs and to the left, seats about 900 where some of the greatest musical talents in the world have played and graced this amazing stage and venue for decades now. Beer and wine is usually available for purchase, as are light refreshments. A non-smoking venue. Our most recent concert brought us back to this awesome venue for a show with Ozomatli this past Tuesday evening - This show did not disappoint! The Los Angeles based band has been together for almost two decades now, and it showed in their performance as they smoothly moved from urban latino - to hip hop, to cumbia, salsa and funk. This was an awe inspiring show, for both performers and the audience, as many have been, that I have seen at this venue in recent years. Playing at the Van Duzer theater, artists, musicians and performers all seem to thrive in this special and magical venue. It truly does bring out the best in those who play this stage. The audiences are some of the best in the world, and if you go to a show at this venue, you will find and see that those who do attend are there because they love the music and the artist performing. This in turn translates to the musicians and performers and as such the shows here are always spectacular and amazing in their own right. It does not get any better than this for live music. You can reach the Center Arts ticket office at 707-826-3928 to find out more about this venue and upcoming shows. The 2014-15 season looks to be a great one again, so if you ever find yourself on the north coast, 300 miles in the middle of nowhere and looking for world class music, this is it! A Pure 5 STAR venue. 00086

What a wonderful, welcoming, communal space!…read more I was invited to perform here by the Zero to Fierce Festival, and the team here has it going on! I worked with Jackie, Joyful, TL, Mobius, and so many other team members; I'm so grateful to have performed my show THE ANTI "YOGI": Liberation, Not Lululemon, at such a supportive space! I was impressed by the community engagement, hunger, and interest to listen/participate/share. The artwork presented inside is beautiful, the space hosts so many types of shows- and it can accommodate a lot of people! It is truly a communal space; hosting lunchbox sessions to discuss the topics with the artists coming in and the radio station is right next door. Everyone is very supportive toward artists and helping artists; they are engaged in supporting the artist however they may need. They display art work/exhibits in the common area and try to bring in diverse stories that need to be heard. I definitely will recommend this place and festival with others! Thank you all to the team, the viewers, and the community! My percussionist, Neel and I had a tremendous experience and very much wish to return again soon. Please check out what this space does!

Live music, community theater, art performances, circus shows big and small, kid's programs and summer classes and a few things I'm sure I'm leaving out. Our most recent visit was for the theater costume clearance sale, it opened at 10 this past Saturday morning - we arrived at around 11:30 and it was over! It is what it is! This also shows how popular this local venue is. This is a great playhouse that supports and helps a multitude of organizations within the local community. Because of the unique nature of this facility it runs hours accord to the event(s) it is hosting at that time. You may want to verify with the event your going for what times, dates, etc. in advance if you're driving in from out of the area. That being said, a great community asset and another cool place to see awesome live music in town. A solid 5 star venue. 00307

Ornate detailings throughout the building with impressive fixtures and appointments and true to its heritage. There is really not a bad seat in this house, as it is designed and setup for live performances. My visit was no exception, six rows back and stage left. A near perfect location for a view on to the stage without looking up. The sound system is top notch as well, and the acoustics exceptional throughout the building. Be sure to check out the Artist level downstairs very cool. 4.5 Stars - rounded up for the great restoration of a great old building 00651

The production itself was good. There were a few aspects of the production that were surprising... Borderline startling... But in total the talent as well as the student aspects were very pleasant. There were even some cameos by some local icons! (No spoilers!) The venue itself has sufficiently comfortable seats and an open, spacious lobby. The mezzanine is large and affords good vantage. I sat center in row m, which was a bit away from the stage. This didn't bother me as the space is intimate enough to afford fine views from everywhere. The decor of this site is downplayed. I am not sure how to define it... Neither Grecian nor Elizabethan but borrowing from both, the walls made of a sculptors wide brush-strokes. I didn't entirely like it... But it certainly didn't detract from the production quality. I will possibly revise to 5 star after my next visit... As the missing star has more to do with the specific production than the venue itself!
