Starting with the best part, when people are just starting off, resettling into a home, or just in need, the SA offers a voucher program where these people can receive a voucher. The vouchers are for basic needs like silverware, plates, pots & pans, glassware, small appliances, storage containers, basic furniture and other household items. This is an awesome community caretaking role so that people don't have to struggle just to get settled. There is a simple qualification process and then start shopping. 5/5 The shop ability of the two locations known as Valley Road and the one on Sutro. The store is mostly chaos-organized, but at least there is lots of room for everyone to shop. Donation drop-off is variable and seems to sometimes work super easy and at other times it seems they would rather you go to St. Vincents. Some of the items are reasonable and some are nearly retail. 3.5/5 I understand the processing volume of things that come in is a huge task because there are things that cannot be resold, pure junk, all mixed in with great second chance items and valuables. Everything is clean and super organized. Nothing feels junky. I mean, CLEAN. They have a huge inventory of women's clothing. Again, very well organized, and clean. Price is mostly reasonable, with a lot of great bargains. It was my first visit, and I only had limited time, but I will definitely spend more time on my next visit.

I wasn't looking forward to the drive out to the Goodwill on US 50 (towards Dayton) and decided to give this Goodwill Donation X-Press Center a go. As Gayle was out-of-town, that's usually a good time to go through my "treasures" in privacy, including spreading everything out for sorting. From there, I box things up and head to either Goodwill or St. Gals. My "collection" remains manageable, but I still own too much "stuff". It was a quick, friendly, and easy drop off (with receipt), that made me wonder why I had been driving out towards Mound House for so long. This is a compact donation only store front that requires one to open the door and walk in with the donations. That was no big deal and there was help there if I needed it. Leaving it outside the front door (inside or out of open hours) is what I call "dumping" and a big no no.

So I go back to ask for a receipt and they tell me I need to go to some website to download it and print it. my printer isn't working so I demanded a receipt and was told no, I asked for my item back and an hour later they couldn't find it. It was a $400.00 retail item. i guess someone walked off with it. Am S O L as they say. Take your stuff to a smaller thrift type place that appreciates your donations.

The manager, Linda, calls me--the owner of Affordable Home Furnishings--and, I'm sure, a few…read moreothers, to purchase merchandise directly off the truck before it ever reaches the sales floor. Since early 2020, Linda has been inviting me into the back of the store to buy items before they are made available to the public. I have an eBay store, and she would have me "volunteer" some weeks--up to four days a week for several hours at a time. She asked me to wear a badge and not speak to anyone. During this time, I would separate the shoes I wanted to purchase in the back and then take the remaining pairs out to the sales floor. Over time, this evolved into me doing hours of work in exchange for being allowed to select inventory first. The owner of Affordable Home Furnishings, Guyla, and Linda have been doing this for many years. When Jeanette was the manager, this would occur on days when Jeanette was not present, particularly with furniture. Linda has also accepted gifts exceeding the allowed $100 monetary limit. She has given me pink-tag items as gifts, including one jacket priced at over $100. Recently, after previously giving me discounted prices, Linda questioned why I was bringing up price differences. When I mentioned the times she had gifted or discounted items for me, she claimed she did not recall those instances. She has now told me that I am no longer allowed to return to the store. When I asked why, Linda stated, "That's what the courts said," but refused to elaborate. For example, I recently purchased a pair of shoes that were missing shoelaces. I mentioned that shoelaces cost about $4, and she gave me a discount. She even said she enjoys negotiating with me. However, about a week later, when I questioned a price difference on T-shirts while checking out with another associate, she became enraged. She told me that I am no longer allowed to purchase items like shirts for $1.99, even though I had done so in the past, and that she personally considers those shirts to be worth $5. I asked her what I should do as a customer if one associate rings up an item at one price, but another believes it should be higher. I also asked whether, if I were purchasing a dry-fit polyester Nike T-shirt with a standard logo, I should request to be charged $5 instead. She did not have an answer. I asked the associate at the register, after she left, what I was supposed to do in that situation, and he responded that he did not know. I have concrete photo and video evidence of these events.

It was filled with dishware, old school suitcases, sewing machines, scales, etc. I spotted a 4' Darth Vader that was still in the box for $299. It was 20% off, and the lady said they'd have an extra 25% off on Labor Day. After the discounts, more reasonably priced. If it was a storm trooper, I'd snatch it up.
